(And yes, this will annoy a lot of designers.)

But hear me out.

Most designers spend 95% of their time polishing case studies…
…and only 5% preparing for the actual interview.

That’s why they freeze.

That’s why they can’t explain their decisions under pressure.

So let me clear the air:

Here’s the simple cycle I use (and teach) to turn interviews into predictable wins:

1. Identify gaps
Weak storytelling? 
No metrics? 
Unclear impact? 

Pick one and fix it first.

2. Analyze requirements
Study the job description. 
Ask: what does this company actually care about?

3. Create your stories
Structured, repeatable, clear. 
Role → Process → Challenge → Outcome.

4. Practice delivery
Out loud. Not in your head.
Whiteboard challenges. 
Behavioral questions. 
Portfolio walkthroughs.

5. Measure the results
After every interview, write what worked and what didn’t.
Make it measurable.

6. Standardize the system
If something works, turn it into a template.
Your intro, your case studies, your answers. 
Systemize everything.

People think interviews are about “performing.”
They’re not.
They’re about reducing unpredictability.

And a system removes 90% of the uncertainty.
