My job was listed as "in office" in the posting.

But when I read the job description, it said "hybrid."

I was open to hybrid depending on the arrangement, so I applied. Plus it was a company I genuinely wanted to work for.

When I interviewed, I found out that "hybrid" to them meant coming into the office 1-2x a MONTH.

I was totally ok with that! 

Pretty ideal to me actually.

(Plus going into the office meant working out of the roastery. Sign me up!)

Basically, mostly remote but have to be local.

So I guess the lesson here is don't write-off an opportunity just because it says in-office or hybrid. If it looks like a good role, apply and understand what those terms mean to them. Every company is different.

Data analytics in a nutshell.

Junior analyst: "Why isn't this code working?"

Senior analyst: "Why is this code working?"

You'll always be confused, but for different reasons.

One thing in life is certain. 

If someone says “quick data pull,” you’re about to rebuild the entire data model.

If there's one thing I've learned about LinkedIn after 3+ years of writing here, it's this.

Do not over think your posts.

Seriously. That post that's taking you 2 hours to write will not perform as well as the post that will take you 15 minutes to write.

There are trends, but there are no real rules. As soon as you learn all of the "best practices," there will be someone who is defying all of them and still crushing it.

This is more true now than ever.

No one actually knows what "works" anymore.

Your personality, and the quality of what you say is more important than how you say it. 

Focus on action, getting more information, and making a connection with your audience. This will be more valuable than the wording of your next post.

PS - I still struggle with overthinking all the time. But just try to let go. It'll serve you well.

I'll be honest, most "bootcamps" are practically scams.

Oftentimes, it's WAY too much money for WAYYY too little value.

It's always one or more of the following:

- Insane $$$ for a self-paced course.
- Live sessions that provide 0 value.
- You actually learn very little.

I've seen them all...

I've tried many SQL courses over the years. There's a lot of them.

But from what I've seen, the best ones have this:

1. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 - learning SQL requires getting your reps in. A good course will give you lots of practice
   
2. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 - there are SO many courses that pad learning time to increase the length of the course. You want to learn the good stuff without unnecessary fluff.
   
3. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 - I've seen courses ruined by the simple fact that I can't stand the instructor. Sounds silly but it makes a difference.

Some of my favorite courses are ones I came across years ago. I still recommend these. But there are newer resources that I 100% recommend as well.
