The 2026 LinkedIn Influencer Summit Is Over...

Now the LinkedIn work begins.

Joe Apfelbaum and Estie Starr did it again on Thursday the 18th with the 8th annual event.

I went as a guest last year and was invited to present this year, where I shared several quick LinkedIn hacks and "Social Selling Success On Linked In In the 360 Brew Era."  I ended up taking over 4 pages of notes from the other 7 presenters, and I thought I knew a lot about LinkedIn.

Goes to show that even the Old Dog can learn new tricks. And I did.

Are You Using LinkedIn Comments In The Right Way?

Everything's changed with the new AI powered LinkedIn.

Until the LinkedIn change in November, I considered my thoughtful comments to be engagement.

Not so today.

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 "𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘂𝗺𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲," 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼 𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿. 

Your comments along with your profile and posts are the three pieces of content the LinkedIn AI uses to judge how you think, what you really know and understand, and to whom your posts should be exposed.

𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀?

The old days of "weanie comments" like "nice post" are over and done with.

Comments today are a strategy you can and should use to show your authority, not in a braggadocio way, but with confidence. 

One last point - my goal is to generate five insightful comments a day to maintain consistency in my LinkedIn strategy.

What's LinkedIn Really Looking For?

The advent of 360 Brew has changed everything.

The old pre LInkedIn AI days of striving for likes and comments and posting at just the right time are over.

Today LinkedIn reads 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲, 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 and says, “𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀.”   All your content needs to be semantically aligned with clarity and consistency.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲? The one thing you’re known for (or want to be known for (your niche)?

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝟮-𝟰 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗵e (your pillars)?

Here's an easy test for you to evaluate yourself:  If someone reads your last 10 posts, would they clearly understand your niche and pillars? 

If not, you’re too scattered - you're not clear and consistent - you'll confuse the AI (at your peril).

To me this takes more and deeper thought on your part.

The AI recognizes the semantic alignment of your profile, posts, and comments to develop your authority.  Think of it as a bucket into which your profile, posts, and comments get dumped and then are analyzed.

On the "low" side, is your content generic or unclear as to your professional identity, little to no semantic alignment, and overall low trust signals? 𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻; 𝗶𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝘂𝘂𝗺.

What's All This About Semantics on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn's three new AI systems are closely tied to semantics.

I've recently discovered 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀.

From Google, "Semantics is simply 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀, 𝗽𝗵𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. It explains how we understand "run" as a verb (to move quickly) versus a noun (a tear in stockings) or why "destination" and "last stop" have slightly different feelings, even if they mean similar things."

Bottom line is 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲, 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 (𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 "𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁") 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱.  

The LLaMA-3 AI reads 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲, 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 and says, “This person is about these topics, these problems, and serves these audiences”, i.e., "Whose feed should this post even be considered for?”   

𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 in your content confidently matches you with the right people.

I'm finding this is not necessarily easy; it takes deeper thinking on my part (and definitely more time than a year ago).

My (and your) choice is to disregard this or play by the new rules.

Why Is A Post Save So Important?

Don't just take my word for it.

I've read where LinkedIn says 𝗮 "𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲" 𝗶𝘀 𝟱 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 (𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲) 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮 "𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲."

Why is that?

When someone saves your post, it shows the LinkedIn AI your content has value, it's worth coming back to, and that value is more than immediate; plus, it's relevant.

This ties into "logical coherence," such that this type of high-quality content will be pushed to the right audience over time, emphasizing "relevance over recency".

This shows value over the immediate effect we were used to before LinkedIn's AI kicked in.

Ask yourself this question: 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝗹𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿?

Easy to do?

I don't believe so. It takes deeper thinking, which takes, at least for me, longer.  As a suggestion, you might reach out to colleagues you trust and ask them what value you could provide that would induce them to save your post.

It's forcing me to slow down, to post less frequently, but to ensure every post I write is well-written, structured, and provides genuine insight and value.
