Hey, I'm Oliver! Born and raised in the Lake District.

I’m a passionate media commentator talking about Gen Z, mental health, politics and young people in business.

Back in 2020, at the age of 16, I decided the PR industry needed a shake-up. 

That's when I started Platinum Live.

BEC (Building Extraordinary Communities)

To lead BEC, a public/private sector property and socio impact organisation, in supporting local communities. Refocusing the energy and purpose of the company and team into a socio-economic engine. 

Main areas of focus being renovating neglected buildings, delivering projects in the community which aim to regenerate entire towns, whilst keeping sustainable building and a low carbon agenda front of mind.  The business now combines the knowledge of sustainable development with a responsible business approach and a drive to build extraordinary communities which deliver valuable local regeneration that supports young and old alike. 

By working in partnership with local, national, and international stakeholders we have led and supported projects that bring sustained transformation, we are often able to take on derelict sites that require strategic and creative thinking to turn them into viable and exciting developments. 

We own and operate business parks and commercial premises across Cumbria, creating spaces that inspire people in their working day and drive personal and professional growth from start-ups to major international companies. Combined, these activities help to create an environment where people can innovate and grow; resulting in health, wealth and jobs that directly benefit the West Cumbrian community and economy.

DERWENT FOREST DEVELOPMENT CONSORTIUM LIMITED

Part of small team focused upon the delivery of this incredibly exciting landmark development located at Derwent Forest, West Cumbria. The site is over 1000 acres and in former MOD ownership. The development sets out to put people first and cars second. Phase I and 2 are underway and aims to build communities around village greens and self-sufficiency. We aim to provide sustainable solutions and enrichment of life - in todays world why would we even think of doing anything else!

I was so proud to be the Chair of Trustees at AgeUK West Cumbria. The truly dedicated team within the Charity were an example of 'can do attitude' kindness and good humour - in truth they represent the richness of our society.

In todays world it is incredibly sad that too many older people feel they have no one to turn to for support. In a world with COVID-19 these pillars of our society feel even more isolated and find it hard to adjust to the changing demands upon humanity. Every single person has a role to play in making the lives of those that have gone before a life still worth living - how are you going to make the world of difference to someone today?

At AgeUK West Cumbria we exist to help older people when they need us the most, not just today but tomorrow and the week after that, and the month after that, and the year after that....you get the picture.

1) Rheged Visitor Centre -  Re-positioning this Family owned Commercial Centre and Visitor Attraction Business. Operating restaurants, cafes, bars, multi retail, cinema, gallery, theatre, lecture studio, 4 conference rooms, 2 exhibition halls, fuel station and adventure play.

2) High Speed 1 - Initiated a full review of the current car parking offer across the business along with a full contract review of the operator.  Designed, built and delivered new parking strategies that maximised return on space and customer satisfaction.

National Trust

Re-positioning the commercial offer and operation for this very popular national conservation, heritage and visitor attraction business/trust. Responsible for the construction and implementation of the new commercial strategy. A key part of the role was to align activity to the mainstream business in preparation for the transition of the programme to business as usual and ensure that business continuity was maintained. This role was carried out whilst owning my own company.

Reporting directly to the group CEO, I had total accountability for this Branded Support Service business. Whilst in post developed and implemented a full change programme that delivered a more customer focused business which subsequently went on to win ‘Best Parking Operator’ as voted by the industry. Whilst in role I was also appointed as a Non Executive Director for Piccadilly Partnerships, a charity based in Manchester.
