As a Codex Fellow at Stanford, I research AI-driven digital professionals—autonomous agents that enhance legal, compliance, and dispute resolution workflows. My work focuses on making legal decision-making more accessible, efficient, and trustworthy. Examples include Virtual Gabby, an AI mediator for co-parents; Product Law Coach, an AI legal coach for in-house counsel and law students; and ESI Flow, an AI-powered eDiscovery copilot. Hey there! I’m Olga, and my path here wasn’t exactly linear. If you’re looking for the kind of CEO bio that starts with “I’ve always known I’d…” well, this isn’t it.

Where It All Began

My journey began in Ukraine, where I dreamed of creating beautiful things. As a kid, I thought art school would be my next big step. But life had other plans—I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area at 13, a place I call “Candy Land” for its endless opportunities. Here, I discovered that tech can be beautiful, functional, and a powerful tool for change. That discovery shaped everything I do today.

The Spark

Today, I live and breathe at the intersection of law, technology, and impact. As a CEO, I’ve led a legal tech startup (which I sold to LexisNexis) and advised Fortune 100 companies and leading tech companies on how to innovate safely and law better. I’ve been privileged to work as a General Counsel, guiding companies through IPOs, acquisitions, and complex investigations. And along the way, I’ve taught at Berkeley Law, researched at Stanford Law, prosecuted cases as a San Francisco DA, written books, spoken at top conferences, and advocated for a future where law serves people—not just systems.

Why I’m Here

In a world that sometimes feels complicated and opaque, I believe we can make law simpler, fairer, and more accessible. The rule of law should be like electricity—there to support all of us without being cumbersome or costly.

At Gunderson Dettmer, I was the first hire on our employment innovation team and helped build the practice from the ground up. Today, I head Employment Law Practice Innovation, where we’ve reimagined how our group works - redesigning workflows, streamlining delivery, and deploying AI-driven tools that make complex legal work faster, smarter, and more practical for startups, VCs, and their founders.

My approach is simple: reimagine how things could work better, then build the systems to make it happen. I was among the first lawyers to publish thought leadership on generative AI. My 2024 Berkeley Business Law Journal article, "Why Lawyers Must Responsibly Embrace Generative AI," has been cited by federal judges, the New York State Bar Association's 2024 AI Task Force Report, the Washington State Bar Association's Board of Governors Report, the Sedona Conference Journal, Bloomberg Law, dozens of legal scholars and law reviews, and incorporated into law school curricula and ethics guidance nationwide. I'm a frequent speaker and published author on responsible AI, legal tech strategy, and the future of work.

I'm also the founder of Stephanie's Weekly AI Bites, which I started writing because I saw the same recycled AI headlines, but no actual practical guidance from those in the trenches. 

Over 3,000 (!!) subscribers -  founders, lawyers, GCs, leaders, and technologists follow along for 
useful guidance, not more headlines about how AI will either save or destroy everything. Plus, sometimes I'm funny. 😉

POV: You sit down to “organize a few AI prompts" ... and suddenly you’ve built a 300+ prompt library that you didn’t realize you needed until it existed. 

Hour 4: You’re sketching out a full search system.
Hour 8: You’ve built filtering across 15 categories because… obviously.
Hour 16: You’re debugging at 2am telling yourself, “it’s almost working.”
Hour 24: Your “quick project” has quietly evolved into a 300-prompt, fully searchable library of battle-tested prompts. 

And no, it’s not perfect.

I vibe-coded the entire thing myself. The pages, the functionality, the design, etc.  

But it WORKS!! And it actually makes my life easier. 

Building in public also means showing the mess:

• 47 attempts to get the CTA buttons to behave
 • Figuring out how to make the layout look normal on both desktop and mobile
 • Learning what a favicon is (“why does my site have no tiny icon??” → #TIL)

But it’s live. It’s useful. And it’s built for people who actually use AI to get real work done. Check it out and let me know what you think.

🚨 ICYMI: The Manhattan Project for the AI Era has officially launched.

While most of us were focused on pumpkin pie and football (#guilty), the White House quietly announced a Manhattan Project–style initiative to connect federal datasets, national lab supercomputers, and advanced AI systems with the goal of doubling the impact of American science within a decade.

And this isn’t just dramatic framing. 

The Executive Order's exact words: "A historic national effort, comparable in urgency and ambition to the Manhattan Project... foundational to the DOE and our national laboratories." (Source in comments.)

The initiative is called Genesis Mission.  🇺🇸🤖

TL;DR - A bold, coordinated push to rebuild the nation’s scientific engine that will reshape research, innovation, and national competitiveness for years to come.
