Olga V. Mack

I design and measure legal and decision systems that govern how people allocate power, manage risk, and resolve conflict under uncertainty.

I am a legal technologist, CEO, and former General Counsel working at the intersection of law, technology, and organizational decision-making. I have founded and scaled multiple legal technology companies, including a legal tech startup acquired by LexisNexis, and I advise enterprises on risk, governance, and legal system design.

My work focuses on translating legal complexity into measurable, operational systems. This includes developing benchmarks for contract friction and trust, designing scalable legal workflows, and building tools that support durable decision-making across enterprise contracting, product law, litigation operations, and dispute resolution. Much of this work involves modeling how decisions are made under uncertainty and aligning responsibility, incentives, and control.

I have authored and edited multiple books and publications on legal innovation, technology, and governance, and I have delivered six TEDx talks on the future of law, AI, and human-centered legal systems. My work is frequently cited in discussions of legal innovation, AI governance, and the modernization of legal systems.

Previously, I served as a General Counsel, guided companies through IPOs and acquisitions, prosecuted cases as a San Francisco Deputy District Attorney, taught at Berkeley Law, conducted research at Stanford Law, and received multiple industry and professional honors.

I was born in Ukraine and immigrated to the United States as a teenager. I believe law should function as essential infrastructure: reliable, transparent, and accessible, particularly in moments of uncertainty and conflict.

Supervised support staff to zealously serve GTE in a patent infringement suit filed against Nokia and AT&T wireless related to the over-the-air programming of CDMA and TDMA cellular phones in the Western District of Washington.  Our timely delivery of document productions, preparation of motions impressed the attorneys and Special Master, played a critical role in assisting the attorneys and the clients in obtaining favorable settlement.   

* Negotiated competitive pricing with vendors, handled invoice queries, developed cost-saving mechanisms, and created internal QA procedures for case discovery, with particular expertise in electronic retrieval systems.

Tomorrow, March 8, is International Women's Day. I am using this occasion as a Women's History Month reflection and a recap of my recent book launch for this week's Author's Note.

I am filled with gratitude for our fellow panelists Melissa Cohen, Eva Kalivas, Alyssa G., and Dina Blikshteyn. Jess Marks and Lissi Mojica also came to support this event from the DMV area, and for that, I am immensely grateful. It was a privilege to have my book launch at Tempo by Hilton Times Square in NYC, surrounded by four incredible women who challenged, celebrated, and supported me. 

I want to honor that moment as Women's History Month unfolds. Special thanks to Benji Schwartz of Tavern Community Coworking for making this event possible. We are excited to continue the momentum with another expert panel on May 6, 2026—more details to come.

Change can be challenging, affecting our emotions, identity, and sense of safety. How we communicate change—to ourselves and others—matters deeply. This is precisely why I renamed my book: The Leadership Catalyst: Igniting Inspired Change.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of recording a special collaborative episode of Virtual Patent Gateway, LLC's Virtual Water Cooler Chat. Mary, who is well-versed in the IP space, shared insights from her non-linear career journey that led her to her current role as the Dean of Lincoln Law School of San Jose. Our conversation was truly inspiring, especially as we recorded this during Women's History Month.

Sarah and I prepared during my flight delay last week and again via email. She interviewed exceptionally well, particularly since this was her first podcast interview. Mary shared her stories with great depth, each filled with incredible insights. At the end of our chat, Mary presented the letter confirming her reinstated status as a patent attorney, which added an exciting element to our discussion.
