I’m a big fan of intros. A ‘sucker’ for it even. It’s where I base 60% of my time while writing. I see it as people window shopping and it determines if they’ll walk in. 

And some of the best intro writers I know are on Medium  — and specifically in the health niche. They still retain that feel of communicating with the reader. 

They write their intros with a technique I call “layering.” 

Best way I can explain it is: warming your readers into your content by giving them something they’re familiar with, then connecting that to something you want to educate them in. 

I’ve attached a screenshot of a perfect example from Dr. Jason Fung. Lovely intro. 🙂‍↕️
