I learned this the hard way.

Most bad decisions I made were not because I lacked skill. 

They happened because emotions took control.

Anger made me reply too fast, fear made me delay action and excitement made me say yes to the wrong things.

In those moments, logic basically disappears.

What saved me was not motivation. It was values.

My mentor told me, you need to have values in your life.

So I ask him, what do you mean by having values?

So he told me,

They slow you down.

And I noticed something intresting.

I did it myself.

I wrote down three values I refuse to break.
No matter the pressure. No matter the mood.

Before any big decision, I read them first.
They slow me down and they stop me from reacting.

And when my emotions start pushing, 
I let these values take the wheel.
They keep me steady.

This changed how I lead and how I make decision.

Understanding asks, “What is really happening?”

Good leaders do not hurry to sound smart.
They slow down so they can understand first.

They pause.
They listen.
They choose their words with care.
