The Center conducts energy, waste and productivity assessments through one-day site visits at no cost to the facility.

Additionally, we led a 3-year, $30 million project as the Heavy Industrial/Commercial Energy Efficiency Auditing Team Lead for the California Public Utilities Commission. Our expertise is demonstrated by successfully reviewing and auditing over $1 billion worth of energy efficiency projects, contributing to a more sustainable energy landscape.

We have deep expertise in measurement and verification, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of energy and carbon consumption. Our track record includes working on projects totaling over $500 million for multiple electric utilities allowing clients to make informed decisions and optimize energy usage.

With over two decades of experience in the energy, water and infrastructure sectors, I have embarked on an exciting journey as a Senior Engineer in the Electric Vehicle (EV) group at Salt River Project (SRP). In this pivotal role, I lead the utility's managed charging initiatives, leveraging my deep expertise to pioneer innovative strategies within the burgeoning electric vehicle domain.

My career is distinguished by significant recognition and contributions to the industry. I was honored to be named in the Phoenix Business Journal's 2018 40 under 40, a testament to my leadership and impact. Furthering my commitment to civic engagement, I am also a proud member of the 2023 class of the Flinn-Brown Fellowship through the Arizona Center for Civic Leadership.

As a registered Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, and Certified Demand Side Manager, I excel in orchestrating complex projects that enhance energy efficiency and infrastructure development. I aim to forge a more efficient and sustainable future, applying advanced business analytics and systems engineering principles to overcome challenges in energy and water resources management.

Beyond my responsibilities at SRP, I serve as the Chairman of the Planning Commission for Gilbert, Arizona, offering my knowledge to steer urban planning and sustainable community development. This commitment underscores my dedication to fostering resilient and vibrant communities.

I am the Founder and former President of Nexus Integrated Solutions, a pioneering firm in Arizona recognized for its cutting-edge approaches to sustainability. Under my leadership, Nexus secured contracts with leading corporations and utilities, driving substantial energy conservation and resource optimization. Though my involvement has shifted to a private investor and shareholder, this change enables me to concentrate on strategic projects at SRP and fulfill my civic duties.

Mario has been helping property owners, community developers and home builders, the health & senior care industry, education institutions, Homeowners Associations, land use attorneys, engineering and architectural firms, small business owners, land investors and brokers achieve land use solutions and property entitlements.  Proactive approach and commitment to client’s goals, budgets and time constraints has resulted in timely approvals of construction documents and value added land use entitlements for well over 8,000 acres in the Phoenix metro area and over 13,000 acres statewide.
Mario has served in multiple leadership and staff positions over the past 25 years.  As a former municipal planner in the metropolitan Phoenix area for 13 years, including as Senior Planner and Zoning Administrator for one of the fastest growing municipalities in Arizona, Mario was instrumental in facilitating a comprehensive rewrite of the Town of Gilbert Land Development Code to adoption, which included substantial public outreach. During that tenure, he also served as project planner/manager for a large majority of Gilbert’s high profile residential and nonresidential developments (Seville, Power Ranch, San Tan Village, Spectrum at Val Vista, Santan Freeway aesthetics program, Heritage Village Center Sign Code re-write).
