Since medical school at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, I’ve remained deeply committed to medical missions in Nigeria.

One experience, in particular, changed me.

During a mission to a rural village in collaboration with The Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA)  we learned of a 15-year-old boy who had fallen from a mango tree 24 hours earlier.

An ultrasound at a local teaching hospital revealed internal bleeding. 

His blood count was critically low. 

He needed surgery to survive.

His parents couldn’t afford it.

As a last hope, he was sent to our team.

He arrived at our temporary clinic around 9 PM, just as we were closing. 

He was in critical condition. 

We prepared an operating room immediately.

His spleen had ruptured.

We performed an emergency splenectomy and multiple blood transfusions.

He survived!

That night was humbling. 

Those lessons shaped more than my medical calling. 

They shaped Pheenyx Capital Investment.

The same values; resilience, community, and giving back, are embedded in our mission today.

During the holidays in Nigeria, surrounded by family, I felt the impact of my decision to venture into real estate investing in a way numbers never could.

Not in spreadsheets.

Not in returns.

But in moments I didn’t have to rush through.

Time with family.

Unhurried conversations.

Laughter that didn’t need to be cut short.

I even had the chance to sit with some investors and potential investors back home and talk about everything,and anything. 

My mum, of course, had to know the people I roll with 😂

That season left me deeply grateful, not just for what I’ve built, but for why I built it.

A few years ago, I chose a path that gave me something medicine alone couldn’t guarantee: choice.

Real estate hasn’t just changed my finances.

It’s changed how I experience life.

I didn’t choose this path to escape work.

I chose it to reclaim time, presence, and intentional living.

As I step into this year, a few reflections stay with me:

• Wealth isn’t only what you accumulate, it’s what you get to experience along the way.

• Waiting for the “perfect time” often costs more than starting imperfectly.

• Options create peace. And peace changes how you show up everywhere else.

I just got back from #WPW conference 2026, and I’m still sitting with the weight of the moment!

Being in a room filled with brilliant, driven women, sharing stories, wisdom, laughter, and truth, was nothing short of electrifying.

I had the honor of speaking on Legacy Planning:

Building Something That Outlives You
And what struck me most wasn’t just the engagement from the audience, it was the collective hunger in the room.

A hunger to build intentionally.

To live beyond survival mode.

To create impact that doesn’t end with us.

Legacy isn’t just about money or titles.
It’s about what remains because you were here.

• The lives you touched
• The doors you opened
• The systems you built
• The courage you modeled
• The example you set for those coming after you

Standing on that stage reminded me why I do this work, both in medicine and beyond it.

Because women, especially high-achieving women, don’t need permission to dream bigger.

We need space, language, and tools to build lives that reflect the fullness of who we are.

Women Professionals wellness conferences was a powerful reminder that these conversations matter.

And that I want more of them.

More rooms.
More stages.
More opportunities to speak on leadership, wealth, purpose, and legacy.

I grew up in a very traditional, conservative environment, where following the rules and staying within the lines were seen as the path to success.

But within that structure, my parents taught me something deeper:

• Persistence matters more than comfort.

There’s a memory that stands out from my childhood.

I must have been around 10 or 11 years old, struggling with a school project that felt impossible at the time.

I remember sitting at the kitchen table,
completely frustrated, ready to give up.

My father sat beside me and said something I’ve carried ever since:

📌 "Just because something is hard doesn’t mean it’s out of your reach.
It means you have to stretch further to get it.”

That single lesson shaped how I approached:

• Medicine
• Entrepreneurship
• Leadership

The belief that I, as a woman, could not only pursue, but excel, in challenging spaces was instilled in me early.

And yes, there were moments when my ambition was questioned.

When it was labeled “too much.”

But my family taught me something else just as important:

• There is nothing wrong with ambition
• Nothing wrong with aiming higher than expected
• Nothing wrong with wanting more

That lesson still guides me today, whether I’m navigating business challenges or balancing life as a doctor and entrepreneur.

It’s about:

• Continuing to stretch further
• Believing you can reach what feels just out of grasp
• Doing so unapologetically

Because growth doesn’t come from staying within the lines.

It comes from honoring the courage to stretch beyond them.

Conversations like this remind me of women who’ve modeled that courage so visibly leaders like Bozoma Saint John.

Keep stretching. Keep showing up for yourself, unapologetically.

A few years ago, I hit a milestone I had been chasing for a long time. Revenue was up. Opportunities were flowing in faster than I could respond.

From the outside, it looked like everything was finally working.

But something felt off.

I wasn’t unhappy.
I wasn’t failing.
I was just… heavy.

My phone never stopped buzzing.

I’ll be honest, some days, picking up a shift in the ER feels easier than being an entrepreneur. 🤭

You show up, do your work, and at the end of the day, you get a paycheck. 

Simple.

When I embarked on this entrepreneurship journey, building Pheenyx Capital Investment it was a completely different story.

I didn’t fully understand the challenges ahead. 

I faced far more no’s than yes’s in the beginning. 

Honestly? I took many of them personally. 😂

But over time, I learned something crucial: 

success isn’t about everyone saying “yes” to you. 

Everyone has their own path, their own risk tolerance, their own timing.

What I initially saw as rejection, I now see as part of the process, lessons shaping my approach, resilience, and strategy.

The truth is: 

building something meaningful, whether it’s a business, an investment, or your personal brand, is rarely easy.

But here’s the thing:

✅ Every “no” brings clarity

✅ Every setback teaches patience

✅ Every challenge helps you define the path that’s truly yours

When I was about 8 years old, living in Nigeria, my family had a small garden behind our house…


And my mother used to grow vegetables there:

Bananas, coconuts, mangoes, tomatoes, peppers and more

One afternoon, I watched her carefully tend to a row of young plants that hadn’t been growing well.

She noticed I was watching her closely and explained that even though the plants looked fragile, with enough care, attention, and patience, they would grow strong.

She said:

“It’s not about how they start, but how much care you give them to grow.”

She said it in reference to an Igbo proverb, and she said it in Igbo.

At the time, I didn’t think much of it beyond the simple lesson of taking care of things.

But as I’ve gotten older, this memory keeps coming back to me.

It stands out because it’s so symbolic of how I’ve approached life.

Whether it was:

• Pursuing my career as a physician
• Venturing into entrepreneurship and real estate investing or,
• Building a life filled with purpose

I’ve learned that success and growth don’t happen overnight.

Just like those plants, they need:

• constant nurturing
• patience
• dedication
• and care over time

That lesson has guided me through many difficult moments.

📌 It reminds me that setbacks don’t define the outcome.

What matters is:

• the effort we put in
• the persistence we show
• and the faith that we’ll see the results of that care eventually

It’s a simple memory.

But it has become a powerful metaphor for how I live my life and chase my dreams.

What struck me most wasn’t fear.
And it wasn’t euphoria either.
 
It was clarity.
 
The multifamily market doesn’t feel broken.
It feels… 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲, 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱.
 
Here’s what I walked away with and will focus on especially for Pheenyx Capital

  1•  𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗼𝗳 “𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀” 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿.
Capital is still here, but it’s no longer chasing. It’s choosing. Location, quality, and execution matter again. That’s not a downturn; that’s a return to fundamentals.

  2•  𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀.
Owners with decent basis and competent operations are being rewarded with options: refinance, recap, extend, breathe. The market isn’t forcing decisions, but rather, it’s allowing patience. And patience is power.

  3•  𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁... 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆.
Strong assets in strong locations are playing a completely different game than aging properties in marginal submarkets. Lumping them together misses the point. Strategy now has to be precise, not broad.

  4•  𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴
The pressure points are real, but they’re narrow. And because they’re narrow, they’re harder to access unless you’re already positioned, disciplined, and well-capitalized.

  5•  𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘁... 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱.
Not rosy. Not panicked. More like: “We understand the rules now.”
That shift matters. Markets move forward once owners stop waiting for a narrative rescue and start operating in reality.
 
My optimistic take?
 
The next winners in multifamily won’t be the loudest or the most aggressive.

They’ll be the ones who can underwrite nuance, manage complexity, and play the long game without needing constant validation from the market.
 
2026 doesn’t feel like a boom year.
It feels like a 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿.
 
And those are often the most important ones.

And it’s more common than people admit.

Saving is good.
It’s responsible.
It’s necessary.
It’s the foundation of financial security.

Most high-income professionals do this well:

✔️ They max retirement accounts.

✔️ Maintain emergency funds.

✔️ Delay gratification.

✔️ Follow the rules.

And yet, many still feel financially stuck.

Because saving alone preserves money.

It protects you.

But it doesn’t create freedom.

It doesn’t solve:

• Dependence on active income

• Trading time for money indefinitely

• Inflation quietly eroding purchasing power

• The inability to step away without anxiety

• The absence of real options

This is the tension many professionals live with:

Financially responsible, yet still financially dependent on working.

True freedom begins when saving is paired with strategy.

When money is intentionally directed toward ownership, leverage, and income-producing assets.

Money that works while you sleep.

While you practice.

While you live.

Discipline without strategy only goes so far!

You can save diligently and still feel the gap between security and freedom.

Closing that gap requires education, intentional action, and alignment,.not reckless risk.

Some pages are neat and hopeful.
Some pages have tear marks on them.

Because real life looks like that.

Some days are strong.
Some days are heavy.

And both still count.

Writing reminds me of two things:

→ where I’ve been
→ and why I can’t quit now

Gratitude plays a huge role in this for me.

I’m deeply grateful for the last five, seven years;

→ the doors that opened
→ the people I met
→ the investors who looked at me and said,

“I see you. I believe in what you’re building.”

That kind of belief stays with you.

I once heard Tony Robbins say:

“Life will never be the same.”

And I believed him.

Not in a motivational-quote way, but because I’ve lived it.

Growth changes you.
Commitment changes you.
Showing up when no one is clapping changes you.

Here’s the real lesson I’ve learned:

You don’t win by being perfect.
You win by being relentless.

→ Showing up again
→ Staying consistent when motivation fades
→ Choosing progress over comfort

We closed out the year together in Phoenix at the Rise48 Christmas Party  a western-themed evening that brought our teams from Arizona, Texas, and North Carolina into the same room.

Not for meetings.
Not for metrics.
But for connection.

It was a night of conversations, shared stories, and time with the people who put in the work every day behind the scenes. The kind of environment where relationships deepen, trust strengthens, and culture is reinforced in real time.

Because great execution doesn’t start in spreadsheets.
It starts with alignment.
With shared values.
With teams who believe in the mission and in one another.

I left the event reminded of how far we’ve come as an organization and how much opportunity is ahead as we continue building, growing, and serving together in the new year.

Grateful for our teams, our leaders, and every person who plays a role in the work we’re doing.

I was terrified raising money for my first syndication.

Not surface level nerves.
Real fear.

Can I actually do this
What if I mess this up
What if people trust me and I fail

Up to that point, I had proven one thing.

I could buy a duplex.

But a syndication is different.
It’s not just your money anymore.

It’s a responsibility.
Stewardship.
Weight.

The McKinley project forced a new internal question.

Not “is this a good deal?”
But “am I ready to lead?”

Here’s what changed everything.

I stopped trying to do it alone.

I found partners I deeply trusted.
People with track records.
People with shared values.
People who were willing to say no if something felt off.

Then I focused on three fundamentals.

→ A growing market with real demand
→ A conservative business plan
→ Offering investors something better than what they were settling for

But the real work wasn’t underwriting.

It was identity.

I had to move from
“Can I do this?”
to
“I’m responsible to do this well.”

Once that clicked, the fear didn’t disappear.

But it stopped leading.

That first raise wasn’t about scale.
It was about obedience.
Preparation.
Integrity.

Looking back, the hardest part was never raising capital.

It was believing I was ready to carry it.

This week I’m unpacking the goals behind the deals.
And the mental barriers that came before the breakthroughs.

No hype.
No theory.
Just the real progression.

My little girl is potty trained after a holiday weekend potty training blitz! We used a secret weapon that I'm happy to share with you today.

simple, and yet the smile gives it all away.

What were some of your potty training tricks?

The hardest part of raising $1,000,000
Was believing I was allowed to ask.

Before that, I had raised $300,000.
Five investors.

That wasn’t small to me.

That was five families creating margin.
Five people accelerating toward freedom and impact.

So I set a new goal.
Raise my first $1,000,000.

And immediately, the doubts showed up.

I was working in ministry.
Different industry.
Different network.

I kept telling myself:

I haven’t earned the right yet
I need more touchpoints
I should steward the relationship better first

That belief almost stopped everything.

Here’s what finally clicked.

Asking isn’t pressure.
It’s an invitation.

You’re not asking for a yes.
You’re asking for interest.

Yes or no
Both are acceptable.

The real responsibility isn’t the ask.

It’s being prepared if someone says yes.

→ Clear education
→ Simple systems
→ The right team
→ A next step that serves them

Once I reframed that, the fear lost its grip.

God brought the connections.
Old relationships resurfaced.
New conversations opened.

Not because I was perfect.
But because I was willing.

I wanted my first real estate deal so badly.

Not because I wanted to be “in real estate.”
Not because I cared about titles or numbers.

I wanted it because my family was growing.
And because we were mentoring students who needed support.
And generosity requires margin.

At the time, I honestly didn’t know if I had what it takes.

I questioned myself constantly.
Am I capable of this
Am I thinking too big
Am I built for this path

That first goal wasn’t syndication.
It wasn’t raising capital.
It was owning our first duplex.

But behind that small step was a much bigger vision.

How do I create more capacity to give
How do I meet the needs around me
How do I steward what God has entrusted to us well

That single duplex changed how I saw myself.
Later came syndicating deals.
Later came raising capital for trusted partners.

But the hardest part was never the deal.

It was the mental question
Do I have what it takes
