It could be a potential client, a recruiter, a collaborator, or someone you just met briefly at an event.

And they’re quietly trying to understand a few things:

☇What does this person think about?
☇What do they stand for?
☇Do they show up anywhere online?

In many ways, your search results have become your first layer of reputation.

If the only thing that shows up is a basic profile, you’re leaving your story incomplete.

A founder said this to me during a call yesterday, and I still can’t stop thinking about it.

The call had started the way most discovery calls do. 

We were talking about personal branding that how he could start showing up online, what kind of content he should post, how founders today are building visibility alongside their companies.

But as the conversation went on, it slowly moved away from strategy and into something much more personal.

He began telling me about his journey. 

About how he built his company alongside his family, how the business grew year after year, and how the experience of building it changed him as a person.

He spoke about the responsibilities that came with it.

The pressure of making decisions that affected not just the business but the people around him, 

And the patience he had to develop through setbacks and uncertain moments.

At one point he paused and said, almost thoughtfully,

‘I think I’m finally ready to tell my story.’

Not to promote the company but to talk about the person he became while building it.

That moment reminded me why personal branding is becoming so powerful today.

For a long time, many leaders stayed quiet online. 

They built remarkable companies, created jobs, and navigated challenges behind the scenes, but their personal journeys remained largely invisible.

Now something is changing.

More founders are stepping forward, not just as CEOs or business owners

But as individuals who have grown through the process of building something meaningful.

They are sharing their lessons, their reflections, and the experiences that shaped their thinking.

And honestly, it is warm to witness.

Because this feels like a new chapter in entrepreneurship📍

That is not just about building companies, but about evolving as people, and having the courage to share that evolution with the world!

I’m not entitled to success; I’m just making my place by taking one small step every day.

In this race to become better, perform better, and deliver better results, I often get distracted.

I often get tired of managing every small detail, attending every client meeting, and keeping track of every client’s schedule while building a team that aligns with my vision.

Life seldom gets boring. Sometimes I feel I’m living in a loop, and then something interesting happens! Either I get a new client or an extended offer from the existing ones.

And the most proud moment comes when I attend friends & family gatherings and people tell me, ‘I follow you on LinkedIn.’

Such overwhelming moments heal everything going on inside me and give me that extra push to perform even better than yesterday. 

So yeah, running a business is not easy at all. But if it gives you confidence, lets you build your dream life, the bumpy road is definitely worth a ride🫶

It’s time to raise higher, taking another small step that leads to success📍

2 years ago, I had a meeting scheduled with a well-known industry leader.

The kind of person whose calendar you imagine is packed beyond reason. 

The kind of person you assume will either be late or have you waiting outside a boardroom.

The meeting was scheduled for 7:30 AM.

I joined at 7:25, slightly nervous and fully prepared to wait. In my head, I had already justified it, ‘He’s busy. That’s expected’

At exactly 7:29, he joined in.

No assistant announcing him, no, phone glued to his ear, and no rushed apology about another meeting running over

He greeted me well, opened his notebook, looked at me and said, ‘Good, we have 45 minutes’. Let’s start!

For the next 45 minutes, he was fully present. 

No distractions, no multitasking, no glancing at notifications. When the clock hit 8:15, he concluded and moved to his next commitment.

Woah! Now that was some serious discipline in action. 

(spoiler: he is still my client✌️)

Since then, I’ve interacted with many leaders across industries, working in different styles, having different temperaments, and different scales of success.

But the ones who operate at a different level all share one quiet habit:

They never miss their calendars📍

They respect time (theirs and yours)
They don’t (never) overcommit casually
They don’t reschedule without real reason
They don’t treat punctuality as a small thing

And today, it makes me think:

Is being on time one of the most underrated essentials of leadership?

Because punctuality is not just about being on time but it's after effects too. 

It’s about credibility, about signaling that commitments matter.

You can have vision, strategy, charisma, but if people can’t rely on your word (even for something as basic as time) something slowly erodes.

Maybe being on time is not the loudest leadership trait. But it might be the clearest one📍

I deleted a perfectly written post today

And not because it wasn’t good
(Yeah, this is the sad part)

It was actually very good.

Strong hook, clean structure, real insights, precisely the kind that usually does well.

My old self would’ve hit publish in seconds.

But I didn’t today.

Because I’ve realised over time that not every good post deserves to go live.

Sometimes you’re writing from the wrong energy, experiencing the writer’s block.

Sometimes the timing is off when your creative spirits are still sleeping.

Sometimes you’re posting just because ‘I should’

And that’s the trap!!!

We preach consistency like it’s sacred.
But blind consistency creates noise.

There’s a difference between showing up with intent and showing up out of habit.

Today, I chose restraint.

Not because I’m less confident.
But because I’m more aware.

The right post at the wrong time is still the wrong move.

And sometimes, the strongest strategy
is knowing when to wait.

Thoughts?

Before someone works with you, they search you

Not after the call or after the proposal, but before that.

☇They check your LinkedIn
☇They scroll through your posts
☇They try to understand how you think 
(before they decide if they trust you)

And this is where most people get stuck.

They overthink the format:

⇢Should I follow trends?
⇢Should I write long posts?
⇢Should I wait till I’m clearer?

Meanwhile, someone else is just showing up.

☇Do it the trend way
☇Do it the old-school way
☇Do it in a style that feels natural to you

But just do it!

Your online presence today is your credibility filter.

People don’t just buy services anymore.
They buy conviction, clarity, consistency.

And silence feels uncertain, ambiguous, and low awareness.

⇢Trends will change.
⇢Algorithms will evolve.
⇢Formats will come and go.

But visibility will not come on it’s own. 

So don’t get stuck perfecting the ‘right’ way.

Pick a lane, start building, refine as you grow

Because before they work with you, they search you.

5 mistakes to avoid while writing your hook:

1. Starting with context instead of tension

Often, a lot of hooks start with, ‘Today I want to talk about…’

Please avoid this. Instead, give me a reason to care first. 

Let curiosity enter before clarity.

2. Being too vague

And then there are some starting with, ‘Something interesting happened.’

Okay… and?

If your hook can apply to 10 different posts, it’s too generic.

So yeah, it’s a red flag!

3. Trying to ‘sound’ intelligent

Big words don’t stop the scroll.
Strong ideas do.

Be who you’re. Let’s stop the game of ‘pretending’ and build real in public.

4. Overpromising drama

When your post starts with something like, ‘This changed my life forever!’ make sure it justifies the emotion.

If the body doesn’t match the hype, trust drops instantly.

5. Writing for approval instead of impact

Safe hooks get polite engagement.
Bold hooks build authority.

Here’s what most people forget:

The hook’s job is not to impress.
It’s to interrupt.

If it doesn’t create tension, curiosity, or emotion in the first two lines, the rest of your post doesn’t matter.

Simple!

P.S. What’s the biggest hook mistake you’ve made?

I was going through an identity crisis in 2022 and found a safe place on LinkedIn

I created my profile here in a hurry to find a part-time job or even a gig, and I ended up applying to anything and everything that came my way.

Within two weeks, I secured a remote job which eventually helped me secure my identity.

I remember the first time I stepped out of the house as a ‘working mom’ and that feeling was so liberating. 

I felt like, oh, if today someone asked, 'How did your day go?' I’d tell them about my working hours and how I balance work and home. 

That excitement changed something inside me and helped me understand this is what matters, Nisha. 

I was doing something that I love, my work was getting recognized, and I could legit pay some of my bills on my own.

That day, I realised, I was never meant to be a regular ‘sit-at-home person’. I need hustle, I need work, I need a drive that would keep the spark of life alive. 

And I live by what I love doing🫶

On this note,

(I’ll now switch to what I love doing on weekends🥰)

I signed a project for $800 and ended up spending $1100 delivering it.

Yes, you read that right.

Congratulations to me! I successfully onboarded a 100% red-flag client.

Every signal was there.

❌The “multiple” quick small changes 
(that were never small)
❌The messages at strange hours.
❌The “just one more thing” requests.
❌The “everyday” 2 hours of meetings
❌The “change the strategy” again calls

At one point, I barely had the energy to focus on anything else.

The energy that quietly tells you this might become complicated.

But like many founders, I convinced myself:

⇢It’ll be fine
⇢It’s a small project
⇢Let’s just do it

6 weeks later I realised something funny.

I wasn’t running the project.
The project was running me.

By the time everything was done, I had spent more time, more effort, and more resources than the project was even worth.

Which means one thing:

I paid $300 to learn a lesson I already knew.

Founder life has this strange feature.

Sometimes the problems you solve are the ones you created yourself.

☇You ignore the red flags
☇You overestimate patience
☇You underestimate chaos

And then you spend weeks cleaning up the mess.

☇Am I proud of it?
❌Absolutely not

☇Am I laughing at myself today?
✅A little bit

Because sometimes entrepreneurship isn’t about scaling success.

Sometimes it’s just about surviving your own decisions.

2 days back, I blocked 20 minutes on my calendar to write a post (my biggest mistake)

It was supposed to be quick.

I had a simple idea in mind, framed a clear structure, everything was set in and out. 

I opened a blank document at 4:10 PM.

At 7:02 PM, I was still there.

I knew exactly what I wanted to say but the hook didn’t feel right. So I rewrote it a hundred times.

Every version felt slightly off, too safe, too obvious, too strong, and clearly not engaging enough.

I told myself, ‘Just fix this one line and save as a draft in the dashboard.’ 

15 minutes later, I was still adjusting that one line.

And somewhere between version 9 and version 11 of the same hook, I had a quiet realization:

This is not about writing anymore, Nisha.
This is about perfection.
(and I’ve been trapped!!!)

I wasn’t improving the post.
I was protecting myself.

☇If it’s perfect, no one can question it

☇If it’s perfectly balanced, no one can misunderstand it

☇If it’s perfectly structured, no one can criticise it

Perfection feels safe.

But I’ve learned something from this experience:

Perfection slows momentum more than lack of skill ever will📍

When I finally posted it, nothing dramatic happened.

⇢No one applauded the phrasing.
⇢No one noticed the micro-edits.

They just read it.

And that’s when I realized that most of the time, we don’t struggle because we can’t do the work.

We struggle because we’re afraid to release it imperfectly.

Sometimes it’s not a content problem.
It’s a courage problem.

And sometimes the 80% version posted today does more for you than the 100% version you’re still polishing tomorrow.

P.S. Tell me I’m not the only one who has turned a 20-minute task into a three-hour spiral.

I’ve been on enough discovery calls and managed enough profiles to see patterns.

Or you can say the silent signals that tell me a founder will win the platform. 

So, here’s what actually gives it away:

1. How they respond to comments

Do they drop a ‘Thanks!’ and disappear?
Or do they continue the conversation?

Founders who win treat the comment section like a room full of people, not a notification tab.

They understand that engagement is about depth.

2. Whether they can articulate #1 clear belief

Not ten, just one!!

The founders who grow fast can say,
‘This is what I stand for’

Not what’s trending or what sounds good but what they genuinely believe.

3. If they’re okay being disagreed with

Now, this is the big one!

The moment someone pushes back, do they shrink or do they stay grounded?

Because if everyone agrees with you, you’re probably playing safe.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

Winning on LinkedIn is way beyond hacks.
It’s about psychological stamina.

The founders who treat this platform like a long-term positioning game (not a short-term lead magnet) are the ones who quietly build authority.

And you can tell within 10 minutes of speaking to them.

Content that triggers real conversations (not hollow engagements) gets amplified.  

2. Professionals are judging posts by how relevant they are to their real questions, not by length, presence of images, or artificial tactics. 

Research shows promotional content underperforms compared with original thought pieces and business insights.  

3. Thoughtful, honest posts that explain the thinking behind decisions see deeper engagement because they help others solve real problems.  

4. Experts predict that this year, trust and authenticity will be the defining currency of content (far more than reach, impressions, or vanity metrics).  

What does this mean for how we should create content?

❎ Stop posting for visibility
✅ Start posting for utility.

Ask yourself before you post:

⇢Would someone search for this?
⇢Does this carry your actual perspective?

Because LinkedIn is not rewarding noise anymore.

It’s rewarding to provide content that helps someone think, learn, or decide.

I’m 32 years old, a mother of a four-year-old, chasing my dreams unapologetically.

4 years ago, I started showing up online as a complete nobody.

No audience, no credibility, no one really paying attention to what I had to say.

Just an idea that maybe I could build something meaningful if I kept showing up long enough.

Back then, everything felt new and slightly uncomfortable. 

Writing publicly, sharing thoughts, putting myself out there in a space where everyone seemed far more experienced, far more confident, far more established.

Things founders say on discovery calls vs what they actually mean

After enough calls, you start hearing two conversations at once.

I’m sharing a few classics below:

~”We want thought leadership”
→ We want leads (Preferably yesterday)

~”We’re not seeing traction”
→ We’re impatient.

~”We just need help with content”
→ We don’t know our positioning yet.

~”Our audience isn’t engaging”
→ We haven’t given them a reason to.

~”We tried LinkedIn but it didn’t work”
→ We posted for 3 weeks.

~”We don’t want to sound salesy”
→ We don’t know how to sell without sounding desperate

Technically, none of this is wrong.

In fact, it’s normal.

Most founders are not confused about growth. They’re conflicted about visibility.

They want:

◾️ Authority but without risk
◾️Leads but without patience
◾️Results but without long-term positioning

And that’s where the real work starts.

Discovery calls are not just about pitching on the go but decoding what’s really being said.

Because once you fix the real meaning,

LinkedIn is the only app that will change its dashboard so often, you start doubting your own memory.

But it’s not random, but their strategy

LinkedIn keeps reshaping the UI based on 2 things:

1. What users are actually doing (behavior)
2. What the platform wants more of (outcomes)

Best example: LinkedIn Videos📍

They started testing a TikTok-style vertical video feed and even introduced a separate video tab in phases. 

That was a behavior-led design.

Short-form video consumption is rising so LinkedIn adjusted discovery around it.

Another example: Analytics📍

The introduction of metrics like Saves and Sends shifted the focus from random engagement to intent-based engagement.

Not ‘Did they like it?’

But ‘Was it valuable enough to keep or share privately?’

LinkedIn is constantly telling us what it wants more of:

☇Retention
☇Watch time
☇Private shares
☇Repeat creators
☇Meaningful interactions

Now, here’s what I’d personally love LinkedIn to add next:

1. Follower growth source breakdown

Tell me exactly which post brought which followers. Not just impressions but actual conversion.

2. Comment reach analytics

If comments are being pushed wider (which they clearly are), show us where and by whom. Let creators optimize intelligently.

3. Deeper profile view insights

Not just ‘who viewed’ but what content led them to view. (that’s leverage)

Because if LinkedIn keeps evolving around behavior, I want data that helps me evolve faster with it.

The dashboard will keep changing.

The real question is: are you watching closely enough to decode what it’s trying to tell you?

Confession time: My early LinkedIn strategy was basically ‘post and hope’

And if I could go back to 2022 and fix one mistake I made while building my LinkedIn presence,

It wouldn’t be the content at all
It would be the ‘post timing’

I used to post whenever I ‘felt like it’

☇Late nights
☇Random afternoons
☇Between meetings
☇On impulse 

My logic was simple:
‘Good content will work anytime’

Alas! It doesn’t.

LinkedIn is not my personal diary.
It’s a distribution platform.

And distribution has windows.

If you post when your audience is not active:

⇢your first 60 minutes suffer
⇢early engagement slows
⇢momentum dies quietly

And on LinkedIn, the first hour matters more than people realise.

You post the same quality content with the right timing and get bombarding results.

Once I started posting when my audience was actually online (mornings before work, early weekday evenings), engagement stabilised.

Not exploded but ‘stabilised’
Which is more powerful (I believe)

Consistency + smart timing beats random inspiration.

So if you’re building your presence right now, don’t just think of ‘What should I post?’

Also ask:
When will the right people actually see it?

☇Content builds authority
⇢Timing protects distribution

You’d need survival instincts.

1. Influencers = Billboards

Bright, bold, impossible to ignore.

You log in for 5 minutes and somehow pass the same faces at every ‘intersection’

2. Comment section = Networking cafés

The regulars are always there.

Some genuinely insightful conversations, some polite applause, and sometimes, real opportunities brewed between two thoughtful replies.

3. DMs = Backdoor deals

The serious partnerships, the silent negotiations, and occasionally, the ‘quick question’ that turns into a 9-slide pitch deck.

4. Ghost followers = Silent residents

They never like your posts or comment.

But one day, out of nowhere, they say,
‘I’ve been following your content for a while’

That’s when you realise they were watching the whole time.

5. Trending formats = Street performers

Everyone gathers, everyone claps until a new performer arrives tomorrow.

6. The algorithm = City mayor

It doesn’t care how hard you worked on your post.

It cares about genuinity, traffic, engagements, resonance, and active conversations. 

Here’s what most people get wrong about this (LinkedIn) city:

They try to be the loudest voice on the street.

But LinkedIn rewards positioning, not shouting.

You don’t win by walking around hoping someone notices you.

You win by slowly building 
-Your corner
-Your identity
-Your reputation

Because in this city, attention comes and goes.

But authority?
That’s real estate.

When people hear the word mother-in-law, they usually expect a dramatic story.

Mine is the opposite (yes, I swear) 

She has been my greatest cheerleader ever since I’ve known her.

From the very beginning, she made it her mission to push me forward in ways I didn’t even realise I needed.

She insisted I learn how to drive.

She nudged me to step out, meet people, and socialise with confidence.

She taught me how to deal with situations calmly instead of reacting.

And somewhere between managing home and building my work life, she showed me how both worlds can exist together without one canceling the other.

But the most beautiful part?

She celebrates every step I take as if it were her own. 

In many ways, she is living a part of her dreams through my journey.

And instead of holding me back, she keeps pushing me further.

That’s something I’ve come to appreciate deeply.

Popular advice gets repeated again and again because it feels safe to say.

Real insights usually come from situations you are dealing with in the moment.

So share:

➡️An observation from your industry that others might not notice yet.

Posts like these naturally feel different because they come from experience.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I was asked this so many times as a child.

And my answer changed every few months.

An actress, after watching TV all day.

A pilot, after seeing planes in the sky.

Other times, just repeating what elders said sounded respectable.

Back then, it felt like life was about becoming something important.

But growing up teaches you things no classroom can.

There were phases when nothing made sense. 

Plans failed, confidence disappeared, and days felt heavy.

What stayed with me from those moments wasn’t advice or motivation.

It was simple acts of kindness.

A calm voice when my mind was in chaos.

A reassuring word when I was full of doubt.

A presence that made things feel less difficult.

Those moments passed for them.

But they stayed with me.

Now, when I look at my daughter, I don’t find myself wishing for fame, titles, or achievements.

I just hope she grows up with a kind heart.

Because I know firsthand how deeply that can touch a life.

People may applaud success.

But they carry kindness with them forever.

If she can be that reason for comfort in another person’s difficult day, I will feel I did something right.

Most people accept your LinkedIn request and still don’t know you exist

I’ve realised something about LinkedIn that nobody really tells you.

Sending connection requests alone doesn’t do much.

Earlier, I would send requests to people I wanted to know. 

They would accept, and that would be it.

But the people who actually replied or spoke to me later were usually the ones who had seen me somewhere before.

Maybe I had commented on their post, or they had come across something I wrote.

There was already a sense of familiarity.

It made me realise that people don’t mind connecting. 

They just prefer connecting with someone they’ve seen, not someone completely random.

Since then, I’ve focused more on being present and less on just sending requests.

It feels more natural that way.

P.S. How do you usually connect with people here?

If LinkedIn disappeared tomorrow, would your brand still exist?

It’s a strange question, but an important one.

Many of us spend years building visibility on platforms like LinkedIn. 

We post regularly, engage with people, grow our networks, and slowly build a reputation.

But sometimes it’s worth asking: 

Is our brand tied to the platform, or does it exist beyond it?

Social platforms are powerful, but they are still platforms we don’t control.

Algorithms change, and platforms evolve. 

Sometimes they even disappear. Just look at how quickly digital ecosystems shift.

What truly lasts is something deeper than a platform is your

➡️ Expertise

➡️ Point of view

➡️ Relationships.

➡️ Reputation in the real world.

A strong personal brand is not built on posts alone. 

It is built through the problems you solve, the value you create, and the trust people place in you over time.

Platforms help amplify that.

But they shouldn’t be the only place it lives.

The real question is not just how many followers you have, but whether people would still remember what you stand for if the platform disappeared tomorrow.

Because ultimately, platforms host your content.

But your work and your impact are what build your brand.

Nothing will work on LinkedIn if you’re not all in

This platform has a way of exposing half-interest.

You can post occasionally.

Comment when you feel like it.

Disappear for weeks.

And nothing really happens.

Then it’s easy to blame the algorithm.

I used to do the same.

I treated LinkedIn like a tool I’d use only when I needed something.

A client, visibility, or momentum.

But LinkedIn doesn’t respond to urgency.

It responds to consistency and intent.

Things got better when I stopped showing up only when it was convenient.

I started showing up when nobody was reacting.

Started sharing what I actually believed, not what I thought would perform.

I started investing time here without expecting immediate return.

That’s when things changed.

People started reaching out.

Opportunities came from people who had never engaged before.

Trust was building quietly.

This platform gives back.

But only after it knows you’re serious.

You can’t test LinkedIn.

You have to commit to it.

Is it okay to feel uncomfortable with some of the things happening on LinkedIn lately?

I find myself asking this question more often these days.

There was a time when LinkedIn felt like a place where people shared experiences from their work, lessons from their careers, and insights that came from actually doing something in the real world.

Now, sometimes it feels different.

Every scroll brings something more dramatic or more performative than the last. 

Advice from people who started yesterday. 

Stories that feel more scripted than lived. 

Success that appears overnight but rarely explains the years behind it.

And occasionally you pause and wonder:

Am I the only one who feels a little out of place here?

But maybe that feeling says something important.

Maybe it simply means you still value the quieter side of work.

Because sometimes work is just work.

Showing up, figuring things out, making mistakes, and slowly getting better at what you do.

And perhaps LinkedIn could use a little more of that again.

Real people, their journeys and the hard work behind them.

Most people haven’t read their own LinkedIn About section in months

It’s usually written once and forgotten.

But here’s the thing:

Your About section is where people go when they’re curious about you.

Not your posts or your job title. 

You.

And most About sections make one mistake:

They try to sound impressive instead of sounding real.

Here’s what actually helps:

Have's 

• What you really do.

• Who you work with.

• What you’ve learned from experience.

• What you care about in your work.

Avoid:

• Big words that don’t mean anything.

• Your full resume repeated.

• Trying to sound like everyone else.

You don’t need to sound smarter.

You just need to sound like yourself.

Because people don’t connect with perfect profiles.

They connect with clear and honest ones.

Might be a good time to re-read yours.

LinkedIn has seasons

And every season, everyone becomes the same person.

A few months ago, everyone was making $100K in 30 days.

Not just them, their clients too, and their clients’ clients also, apparently.

Before that, everyone was a guru, teaching other people how to grow on LinkedIn.

And now, suddenly, everyone is a founder.

With no product or revenue, but definitely a founder.

It’s fascinating to watch.

Because LinkedIn itself has changed. 

It’s no longer just a job platform. 

It has become a place where professionals build authority in public.

But in the middle of all this, one thing becomes very clear.

Every few months, everyone sounds the same.

Same claims, titles, and promises.

But the ones who speak from real experience stand out.

Not because they try harder.

Because they don’t need to pretend.

People remember honesty.

They remember clarity and value.

And over time, that’s what builds real trust.

Not the season or the trend.

And to be honest, I’ve been guilty of following a few of these waves myself. 

No regrets, though.

Part of being here is learning what’s real and what’s just a season.

Growth here is slower than it looks. 

People may not react immediately, but they are watching and forming an opinion. 

Stay consistent, because the results often come later, not instantly.

Zero-personality personal branding is becoming a real problem on LinkedIn

Scroll through your feed, and you’ll notice a pattern.

Many posts are well-written and properly structured.

They follow the same templates and formats.

 But most of them feel almost identical.

You could remove the author’s name, and the post would still read the same.

That is where the problem begins.

Personal branding was never meant to be only about sharing information.

It was meant to reflect how a person thinks and what they truly believe.

Your experiences shape your perspective.

Your perspective shapes your voice.

Information is everywhere today.

What people actually remember is a voice that feels human and recognizable.

When personality disappears from personal branding, what remains is content that informs but rarely connects.

Personal branding gave me something I wasn’t expecting

Perspective.

When you sit with founders and help shape their voice, you don’t just see what they do.

You see what they’ve been through.

The risks they took.

The failures they don’t talk about.

The years when nothing seemed to move.

From the outside, it looks like a straight line.

But when you hear their story, you realise how much happened in the background that nobody saw.

Makes you realise how much stays invisible.

My impressions are at an all-time low

So I did what every emotionally stable LinkedIn creator does.

I stared at the number for 5 minutes.

Hoping it would increase out of respect.

It didn’t.

So I cried.

Not loudly.

Just enough to stay professional.

Then I immediately wrote a post saying:

“Impressions don’t matter.”

Because obviously, we post for:

➡️ Passion

➡️ Value

➡️ Community

Not for validation from people we’ve never met.

I mean, who even cares about reach?

(Except me. I care deeply.)

Then I refreshed the post.

Again.

And again.

And once more, just to make sure LinkedIn wasn’t broken.

It wasn’t.

It was just me.

Anyway.

I’ve decided numbers don’t define me.

Unless they’re high.

Then they definitely define me.

I used to believe that if something wasn’t converting, I just needed to give more value.

More insight, detail, and more effort in every post.

It felt logical.

If people understand more, they’ll buy.

But that’s not how decisions work.

Information helps people understand.

Certainty helps them decide.

You can teach everything you know and still watch people hesitate. 

Not because your ideas lack depth, but because they’re unsure about you.

Buying is rarely about knowledge.

It’s about confidence.

Confidence in your thinking, your direction, that you’re the right person to guide them.

There’s a difference between sounding intelligent and sounding dependable.

One earns attention.

The other earns trust.

Now, when I create content, I don’t ask, “Is this valuable enough?”

I ask, “Does this make someone feel sure about me?”

Because people don’t move when they know more.

They move when they feel certain.

Just something to think about before your next post.

Maybe the chapter that you are so afraid of

Will become your favourite one.

There was a time when I knew I wanted to start my own business.

Yet I kept putting it off.

A stable income felt safe.

A monthly salary brings certainty.

And business brings questions you cannot answer immediately.

Every time I thought about leaving my job, one thought would stop me:

What if this doesn’t work?

So I stayed.

For months.

Convincing myself that waiting was the smart decision.

Deep down, it was fear dressed as logic.

The day I finally decided to leave, I was terrified.

There was no guarantee.

Today, I can say this with complete honesty

Taking that leap was one of the best decisions of my life.

It changed how I see myself.

It changed what I believe I’m capable of.

Growth was waiting on the other side of fear.

Sometimes, letting go of security is what allows you to build something truly your own.

If something in your life is asking you to take that step, maybe it is not asking you to lose something.

Maybe it is asking you to become someone.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about personal branding through a simple lens: 

The economics of attention.

Today, information is abundant. 

Everyone is posting, sharing ideas, giving advice, and documenting their journeys. 

But while content has become unlimited, attention hasn’t. 

People scroll quickly and pause only when something genuinely makes them think.

That’s why I’m starting to believe personal branding isn’t really a content game. 

It’s an attention game.

Not about grabbing attention for a few seconds, but about earning it consistently. 

The posts that truly matter are rarely the ones that simply get likes. 

They’re the ones that make someone pause, reflect, and remember the perspective behind them.

Over time, that memory quietly turns into a reputation. 

And in personal branding, reputation is what truly compounds.

Your likes are lying to you

If you judge your content only by likes and comments, you’re measuring the wrong thing.

Because for every person who engages, there are many more who quietly watch.

The lurkers.

The recruiters.

The founders.

The potential clients.

The “I’ve been following you for months” people.

They rarely like.

They almost never comment.

But they are paying attention.

They notice how you think.

How you show up.

How you treat people.

How consistent you are.

How you handle disagreement.

A lot of people stop posting because they think:

Low engagement = nobody cares.

That’s rarely true.

Some of the most meaningful opportunities don’t come from the people clapping in public 

Instead they come from the people observing quietly.

I’ve had DMs that started with:

I’ve been following your work for a while…

I don’t usually comment, but…

I’ve seen your posts and wanted to reach out…

None of those showed up in my analytics.

So if you’re feeling discouraged by low engagement then don’t.

You’re not just posting for the visible crowd.

You’re building trust with a much bigger audience you can’t see.

Visibility compounds quietly long before it compounds publicly.

People don’t experience you

They experience their perception of you.

And that changes things.

Most people here haven’t worked with you.

They haven’t seen your effort behind the scenes.

They only know you through what you show consistently.

Your posts, opinions, presence, and your silence.

And based on that, they decide.

If you look credible or you feel trustworthy.

If you’re worth reaching out to.

That’s personal branding.

It is not forcing attention but shaping perception.

I’ve seen talented people get ignored because their presence looked scattered.

And I’ve seen average performers get opportunities because they looked clear and focused.

Skill matters.

But perception gets you opportunities.

So what should you take care of?

➡️ Be intentional about what you associate yourself with.

➡️ Be consistent in how you show up.

➡️ And most importantly, be authentic. People can sense borrowed personalities.

Because over time, people don’t remember everything you said.

They remember how you made them see you.

And that becomes your brand.

I’ve noticed something interesting

A lot of people struggle to define their niche because they’re trying to label their industry.

“I’m in marketing.”

“I’m in finance.”

“I work with founders.”

That’s fine.

But that’s not a niche.

That’s just the space you operate in.

Your niche is usually the thing you can’t stop thinking about.

It’s the problem you keep coming back to in conversations.

The pattern you keep noticing.

The frustration you genuinely want to fix.

“Marketing” is broad.

“Helping B2B founders turn their expertise into authority on LinkedIn” is specific.

“Finance” is broad.

“Designing safer credit structures for MSME lenders” is specific.

One sounds like a category.

The other sounds like a commitment.

And commitment builds recall.

People don’t follow industries.

They follow people who clearly care about something.

If you’re unsure about your niche, don’t overcomplicate it.

Ask yourself:

What do I naturally talk about even when nobody asks?

What problem do I feel slightly obsessed with?

What topic could I explore for the next few years without getting bored?

That’s usually the clue.

Because authority isn’t built on variety.

It’s built on depth.

And depth almost always starts with obsession.
