I remember hearing that stat the same year I quit my full-time job to start WP Creative.

That was 10 years ago.

It was one of the hardest years of my life:
- I had just gotten married
- I was working 80-hour weeks
- I was $18,000 in credit card debt
- I lost my mom to cancer that same year
- I was in legal conflict with the wrong business partner

And still:
No backup plan.
No safety net.
No way back.

The odds were terrifying.
I wasn’t even sure I’d survive the first 2 years, let alone 10.

The decade that followed was brutal.
I call it “the valley of death”, and not just once.

Almost every year.

Moments where I thought:
- “Can we make it through this one?”
- “This has to be the year I quit.”

At the time, it felt overwhelming. 
Painful.
Sometimes, honestly… life-threatening.

Looking back, I realise this:
I should have failed faster. Taken bigger risks. And failed harder.

I love what Seth Godin says: “The rule is simple: who fails the most will win. Because in order to keep failing, you’ve got to be good enough to keep playing.”

Despite everything we’ve built, this year feels like starting again from zero.
Even after 10 years, it still feels like day one.

We’ve set an audacious new 3-year goal.
And yes…. it scares me.
