This Sunday and Monday, I was invited by the brilliant Renate Kratochvil to guest lecture at her MBA course “Innovation Strategy & Business Development” at Technische Universität Wien. 

The participants were a standout group: corporate innovation leaders, R&D engineers, IT heads, and founders that had spent days absorbing high-level theory.

So, I decided to disrupt the classroom a bit and let them feel what a real failure culture looks and sounds like.

✅ They shared personal fuckups. Me too.
✅ We reverse-engineered real cases (like Lidl’s €500M IT disaster).
✅ And we wrapped it all up with one powerful “take-home” exercise:
Write an 8-minute speech owning a massive fictional failure.

The room shifted. This confession moment got real, and I loved to see that for them, failure wasn’t abstract anymore. It was personal, vulnerable, and full of leadership.
