This has been how we’ve been working for a while, so it feels right to make it official.

Peter Westmore is joining Fractional Finance as Co-Founder.

Pete has been part of building this business since April 2023. We worked together at Deloitte, and when he moved into fractional CFO work it lined up almost perfectly with me launching Fractional Finance. What started as some early support quickly became something much bigger.

Since then, Pete has been a constant presence behind the scenes. He challenges my thinking, helps shape big decisions, and is someone I trust to say the thing I might not want to hear but usually need to.

He has had a big influence on how we work, how we support founders, and the kind of business we are building day to day.

Making this official reflects how we have been building for the last couple of years.

I am proud of what we have built so far, and genuinely excited about what comes next with Pete alongside me as Co-Founder.

I’ve had a lot of new followers recently, so a quick intro feels right.

I’m Kat. Founder of Fractional Finance and The Fractionals Group.

I always thought success meant Big Four, Partner track, corner office. I worked hard, got close, and then realised I didn’t want the version of success that came with it. It felt like I’d have to give up too much of who I was to get there.

So I left.

What I did know was this. I’m not a traditional accountant. I care about the numbers, but I care just as much about the decisions behind them. The risk. The people. The reality of building something from the ground up.

I could see a gap. Ambitious founders weren’t getting the support they needed at the stage they were actually at. So in January 2023, I launched Fractional Finance. Not as a consultancy, but as an embedded finance team that helps founders move their businesses forward.

That model worked. So well, in fact, that it became the blueprint for The Fractionals Group. A group of embedded, functional teams supporting founders across the parts of the business that matter most as they scale.

Since then, I’ve gone from solo founder to group founder and co-founder. I now sit on the same side of the table as the founders we support, making the same hard decisions and feeling the same pressure.

That’s what you’ll get from me here.

Honest takes on scaling, leadership, and building support around you that actually works. What I’d do if it were my business. What I’ve got wrong, what I’ve learnt, and what I’m still figuring out.

Three years ago to the day, I was on a self-curated retreat getting ready to launch Fractional Finance.

Nothing fancy. Just time, space, and a lot of thinking.

Here’s what I did back then:

I wrote a manifesto, mission, vision, and values. Most of them still hold true today.

I created a five year plan, a one year plan, and quarterly rocks.

I listed out every task needed to launch and time blocked them properly.

I built a full services menu with a pricing methodology behind each one, so pricing was consistent and confident. That framework has carried us through for three years (although one of our Q1 rocks this year is to revisit this)

I spent time with my mentor, sense checking everything and being pushed well outside my comfort zone.

If I were doing it all again, I’d follow exactly the same approach.

In fact, we do.

As an SLT, we now run something very similar each year, with a lighter version every quarter. 
That rhythm has helped us build a seven figure business in three years, and one I’m genuinely proud of.

Today is my first official working day of 2026.

Sitting here writing this, I feel some of the same nerves I felt back then. This year’s goals are bigger than anything we’ve set since launch.

But I also know this. When we slow down to get clear, put structure around ambition, and do the work properly, the results follow.

Same approach. Bigger goals. Let’s see what’s possible.

Woke up this morning to the highest HRV and recovery I’ve had in over a month.

I’m putting it down to yesterday.

I spent the day with the leadership team of one of our clients. Just a genuinely great day with smart, thoughtful people who care about what they’re building. 
The conversations were open, energising and properly human. 
The kind that remind you why you do this work in the first place.

I left feeling inspired and, honestly, pretty grateful that this is what my working day gets to look like.

And apparently my body agreed.

We talk a lot about work in terms of output and delivery. 
We don’t always acknowledge how much good teams, good energy and real connection matter, not just mentally, but physically too.

Yesterday was a good reminder: working with the right people doesn’t just make the work better, it makes you better too.
