Proud (and genuinely excited) to be in the jury for the first episode of the 2026 season of the Belgian Startup Awards.

This initiative really does something I care about: it doesn’t spotlight one region, one type of founder, or one “hot” sector. It celebrates the whole ecosystem.

Quick reality check on the numbers:
– 103 applications to start
– 75 startups made it through the screening
– 40% Flanders
– 30% Wallonia
– 30% Brussels

Next step: Selection Pitches in early March, happening across different tech hubs in Belgium. And yes, competition is… not soft. Only a maximum of 50 will move on to the Finals to pitch for a podium spot.

As a jury member, I’m not looking for perfect slides or buzzword gymnastics. I’m looking for clarity. Conviction. A team that makes me believe they’ll still be standing when it gets hard (because it will). 😎 

Mostly, I’m just excited to be in the room again. There’s something very special about watching early momentum up close.

It’s pitching season!!!!!

Accelerators. Awards. Investors.
Different logo. Same stress. Same 3am deck edits.
Over the past two years I’ve been lucky to sit on quite a few jury panels and every single time I’m like:

why am I more nervous than the founders???

So I turned the things I keep seeing into a carousel. Not rules. Not gatekeeping. Just your big-startup-marketing-sister-with-a-pink-Stanley-cup energy.
