International Women’s Day has started to feel like a well-rehearsed conversation that rarely asks the harder question: what has actually changed?

Every March we celebrate.

We post powerful messages.

We applaud progress.

But the harder question rarely gets asked:

What has actually changed?

Take medicine.

One of the most demanding professions in the world.

Years of training.

Long nights.

Responsibility that carries life-and-death weight.

Yet female physicians in the United States still earn significantly less than their male counterparts across specialties.

Which forces a more uncomfortable reflection.

Are we advancing progress…

or becoming better at discussing it?

Every year we say women support women.

But support is not a phrase.

Support is a decision.

It shows up in hiring.

In mentorship.

In investment.

In who gets backed, funded, and elevated.

A Mercedes-Benz campaign once said something that stayed with me:

“I don’t want to be the only woman in the room. I want to be one of many.”
For decades we celebrated the woman who managed to become the only one.

But real progress looks different.

It’s the moment when being the only woman stops being impressive, because there are many.

And that shift will not happen through celebration alone.

It will happen through capital.

Women are rapidly becoming one of the most powerful financial decision-making groups in the United States.

Letter to My Younger Self: 

Stop Thinking Like an Employee
If I could go back to the start of my residency, this is the one conversation I would have with myself. While I was hyper-focused on the next promotion and a higher salary, I should have been focused on ownership.

The hard truth nobody tells you in medical school:

Income isn’t wealth.

Salary isn’t security.

Saving isn’t freedom.

Working isn’t winning.

I realized I couldn’t spend my best years waiting for a "retirement age" that keeps moving further away. I wanted financial security; not in decades, but now.

I had to shift my focus toward:

Success is a heavy burden when you have to carry it in silence.


We are trained to be the pillars. 

The ones who have the answers.

 The ones who stay calm when the market shifts or the patient’s vitals drop. We spend our lives perfecting a version of ourselves that never wavers.

But there is a specific kind of loneliness that comes with being "the expert."

It’s the feeling of having a thousand accomplishments but no one who truly understands the cost of them. 

It’s the friction of being highly "successful" but feeling profoundly misunderstood by the very people you want to lead.

We think that if we show the cracks, the foundation will crumble. 

We fear that if we speak about our doubts or our "why," we will lose our seat at the table.

 So we keep the conversation clinical. 

We keep the updates formal. And we stay safe behind our titles.

But safety is the enemy of influence.

People do not want to follow a statue.

 They want to follow a human being who has navigated the same storms they are currently facing. 

They are looking for the "how" and the "why" that only your story can provide.

Storytelling is the only way to turn your hard-earned wisdom into a lifeline for someone else.

 It is the bridge that turns a cold network into a warm community.

It’s that specific quiet in the car after a long shift. No radio. No podcasts. Just you in the hospital parking garage, trying to decompress before you walk through your front door.

In those moments, the titles don't matter. You aren’t the "Attending," the "DNP," or the "Lead." You’re just a human being trying to leave the weight of the day behind.

In healthcare, we are trained to be the shock absorbers for humanity.

We see what others hope they never have to witness. We hold the hands of strangers in their darkest moments. But here is the truth we rarely post about: The system wasn't built to hold the healer.

The system was built for throughput and efficiency. But you were built with a heart, and that heart feels the friction of every difficult case and every missed family dinner.

To my colleagues on the front lines:

It’s okay to be tired in a way that sleep can’t fix.

It’s okay to feel the weight of the coat you wear.

It’s okay to admit that while the mission is beautiful, it is also heavy.

We spend our lives checking everyone else’s vitals. Today, I’m just checking in on yours.

Three years ago, Pheenyx Capital Investment was just an idea.


Not a portfolio. Not six properties. Not a track record.

Just a belief that healthcare professionals deserve more control over their financial futures.

I’ve lived that life; the long shifts, the heavy responsibility, the income earned through sacrifice. I kept asking: Why are some of the hardest-working professionals still financially dependent on the next shift?

That question became my mission.

Today, we’ve crossed over $150 Million in real estate transactions. 

I don't say that to flex. I say it because that number represents:

6 Communities in real markets, pressure-tested and intentionally chosen.

In these three years, we chose discipline over hype. We passed on "exciting" opportunities that didn't meet our standards. We chose operations over optics and longevity over noise.

As a physician, I understand that capital is sacred. I know what it’s like to earn it through service, and I know the weight of being a steward for someone else's future.

This isn’t about celebrating a number; it’s about honoring the trust behind it. 

Building wealth isn't about speed; it’s about stewardship.

As women, we are often told that to be powerful, we must be loud, or cold, or relentless.

The truth is, our power lies in our duality. We are both the fierce advocate and the quiet comforter. We are the strategic leaders and the empathetic healers. We carry the weight of our careers, our families, and our communities; not because we have to, but because we are built with a capacity that the world still struggles to measure.

To the woman reading this: Your strength is not a burden. Your grace is not a weakness. Your heart is the very thing that makes your leadership essential.

This month, we don’t just celebrate what you do. We celebrate who you are.

You are the architect of the future and the anchor of the present.

Own your light. The world is better because you refused to dim it.

The 3:00 AM calculation that changed everything.


I remember sitting in the hospital breakroom, staring at a lukewarm cup of coffee and doing some "doctor math."

I was calculating how many extra shifts I needed to pick up to hit my next financial goal. In my head, the path was simple:
Work more = Earn more = Get free.

But looking at the clock, I realized I was winning the "career game" while losing the "life game." I was a high earner, but I had zero autonomy. Every time my income went up, my free time went down. I was the only engine driving my financial life, and that engine was getting tired.

The hard truth I had to face:
As long as you are trading your physical presence for a paycheck, you are an employee, regardless of the "MD" or "DO" after your name.

I had to stop looking at my paycheck as "spending money" and start seeing it as capital.

The Shift:
I moved from "What can I buy with this?" to "What asset can I buy that will eventually replace my time?"

The first time a real estate distribution hit my account without me having to pick up a stethoscope, the "employee" mindset died. I wasn't just a doctor anymore; I was an owner.

That shift didn't just change my bank account, it changed my bedside manner. When you work because you want to, not because you have to, you show up differently for your patients.

Your degree gave you the income; now it’s time to let that income buy back your time.

Leadership can be lonely.

I used to believe the only way to reach the finish line was to run faster.
