As the Head of Sales Development Operations, I built out & lead our SDR team (100% female), aka ‘Jenny from the Block’. In addition, I oversee our Sales & Marketing tech stack - from Hubspot, SalesLoft, LinkedIn Sales Navigator to ZoomInfo, Seamless.ai & Regie.ai. Helping our revenue org build funnel & pipeline through qualified meetings. Leveraging my SDR leadership network to learn what are the pain points from SDR leaders right now, and how Jenny can help.

Who lives, who dies, who tells your story? 

That quote from Hamilton aligns with the way I aim to live, tell my story, and be of service. 

I LOVE life. I really really do. Challenges? I've had my fair share...sometimes, it feels like more than my fair share. 

But throughout my life and career, three constants have become my foundation: storytelling, human connection, and a deep faith in all things working together for good. 

I started as a theatre major. Growing up in a challenging household meant storytelling on stage was my lifeline, and my escape. Ever since, I've been obsessed with teamwork, big goals, and speaking up with one voice for something bigger than ourselves. 

After college, I followed my passion for positive change into the world of politics. From Boston to D.C. to NYC, I worked as a Communications Director and Press Secretary on political campaigns for some folks you definitely know. It was fast-paced, difficult work - but it's where I built my professional communications and marketing skills, and I wouldn't trade those times for the world. 

In 2020, politics led me to move to NYC. A historic year to be there, full of heartbreak and anxiety but also full of neighbors showing up for each other. The feeling of community was palpable. And quickly New York became home. 

So when I was itching for something new, start-ups was a natural fit. My skills in content, community, and events would translate to B2B SaaS more than I knew. But I started as a scrappy BDR at Reachdesk - years that taught me the SaaS space from the ground up. Those years opened my eyes to the SaaS community - and the magic of a group of BDR friends. 

And to explain my career transition to myself and others, I started creating content on LinkedIn. It would soon become a twist of fate. 

In January 2024, I accepted my role at RevPartners. First as a social media manager, my role was quickly expanded to include planning and executing our first Southbound GTM Summit. My love of community and relationship building ultimately translated to strong skills for Partnerships, the role I hold today. 

During this time, I was blessed to live my dream life as a digital nomad. I worked remotely while doing van life in the PNW and Canadian Rockies, travels through Spain and Portugal, and 3 months of living in Colombia.

As a BDR, I couldn't sell a gifting platform to my current company.

Now I use gifting in my role almost every day.

Here's the story:

When I was at Reachdesk, I pitched RevPartners on gifting - surprise and delight moments for customers, team members, event attendees, HubSpot reps. It went nowhere. (The meeting did flip though, so commission appreciated 🙏)

Fast forward, and we've now been using gifting at RevPartners for a year.

It's a core part of how we recruit attendees and spread the word about Southbound to sales and marketing leaders, especially those in the Southeast!

Right now, we're building a campaign to gift folks we met at previous INBOUND conferences who we think would love the event. 

Writing the messaging, picking the gifts, being on the user side of a gifting platform - it's a full-circle moment!

When I was a BDR, I spent every day talking about how gifting solves problems for marketing leaders. Those are now *my* problems to solve. 🤯 

→ And full disclosure, we now use Sendoso, thanks to their strong partner program. Regardless of platform, what I recommend is the strategy!

Because with gifting, the ROI speaks for itself. 

If gifting helps us fill our Southbound room with 600 attendees instead of 500, that's 100 more GTM leaders empowered to build connections, absorb great content, and explore what RevPartners can do for their HubSpot journey.

Gifting still works. 
It builds real connections. 
It's different. 
I believe in it as much as I did on day one of my BDR role.

Beyond the conversation being super interesting (what VCs are looking for in founders and startups in an AI/LLM world) it was also a reminder to me to RAISE YOUR HAND! 

Ask the question! 

I went into the room knowing they’d be speaking the language of venture capital and startups - still feels beyond my league, I feel like I’ve learned to “fake it well.” 

I was nervous to ask Itamar about how much weight he places on founders having built their businesses on a scalable data model (like the RevPartners Revenue Performance Model™️) 

And it was really exciting when he responded with a smile and asked if I had read his LinkedIn because he’s super into this train of thought! 

I hadn’t yet…I will be now! 🙌 

NYC adventures continue. Hearts so full.

Reminded this week how much of a career excellerant living/working in NYC can be. 

I never would have transitioned into tech startups without ending up here somewhat on a whim. 

I’ve chosen to spend the last 1.5 years mostly away from the city, but it was wonderful to be back and to take advantage of multiple career related meetings and events, while still having time for my closest college friends, my NYC church, and some cultural outings too. 

Great week and refreshed to get back to my building season in Maine! Definitely plans to be back ~once a month and energized to get to some more networking events in Boston too. 

Happy Sunday - get out of the house (even if you end up somewhere random) and make it count!
