I have been involved in the property sector all my working life and now have over 25 years experience in the delivery of development projects across a variety of sectors and regions 

Recently I have focused on the self storage sector, owning and operating facilities as well as providing 3rd Party Management Services to both property owners and investors interested in getting involved in the self-storage sector. 

I have also been a trustee of Resurgo Trust (www.resurgo.org.uk) which helps communities overcome social challenges through church based social ventures and 1MoreChild (www.1morechild.org) which provides housing and schooling for children in Uganda. I am currently a trustee of The Branch (www.thebranchtrust.org) which is a community hub run by St Mary’s Church in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire.

I founded Self Store Consulting as an extension of my expertise, gained within the Self Storage sector over the past 10 years. 

I have worked with Self Storage businesses of various sizes across multiple markets, with the intention of improving their retail strategies and optimize their business efficiency. I have built relationships with many industry operators and suppliers.

At Self Store Consulting, our core services include packaging solutions, product development, and business optimization consulting, i thrive on sharing my experience and knowledge to help drive portfolios forward.

The DZV South Africa

The DZV, a solutions agency that was borne from my passion for marketing and ability to understand my customers and their requirements.

The agency was initially created to procure bespoke branded packaging into the Self-Storage sector and grew to supply open ended packaging and media marketing solutions within the borders of South Africa. 

Responsibilities:
• Entrepreneurial operator and business owner, responsible for the wholistic management of the business and my support team.
• I have gained in excess of 10 years industry experience consulting alongside the largest self storage REIT in South Africa with growing representation in the United Kingdom.
• Industry focused, we nuture the ability to develop, source & supply bespoke branded retail products/merchandise, complimented with a strategy to influence sales and margin.
• We focus on  business optimisation with a clear focus on sales, operations, marketing and human resources, to improve efficiences for our clients.
• Identify, engage and manage supplier onboarding & cost negotiation in line with project requirements.
• Oversee project requirements, target against budget & critical timelines in respect of client brief
• Provide consultations with business banking for international payments ie: FX hedge and cashflow management.

Selected Achievements and Career Highlights: 
• Exceeded sales throughput in excess of 1 million corrugated cartons or 1,200 tons of  converted board within Self Storage to date.
• Awarded the national festive radio campaign for the Sorbet Group (retail beauty group: 240 stores, listed on the JSE - Johannesburg Stock Exchange)
• Awarded the national Out of Home (OOH) campaign for Sorbet Salons which saw a 35% uplift in product sales over 3 months within key geographic nodes.

•	Appointed to oversee the management of the entire mobile category with the inclusion of 
        VAS(value-added services) & FS (Financial Services) within all retail, wholesale & franchisee 
        formats.
•	Management of the mobile category throughout Southern Africa & neighbouring countries.
•	Development of annual category strategy against the achievement of category-budget/sales and 
         margin.
•	Influence sales growth through all business channels.
•	Develop and grow the independent retail channel & franchise partners.
•	Negotiate trading terms with suppliers to maximise the real-time value of money.
•	Create a resourcing structure for the category.
•	Liaise with the mobile networks & 3rd party suppliers.
•	Conceptualise campaigns that increase prepaid sim attachment amongst all sub-channels.
•	Business development & category expansion in line with the business Africa strategy.

•	Successful system implementation and rollout of financial services within the greater Masscash retail & wholesale environment.
•	Negotiated a lower mobile airtime switch fee which benefitted the group approx. R3 million per annum ($200,000)

National Category Manager: Telecommunications

South African Breweries

•	Appointed to ensure that all outlets are aligned to SAB, Global Brands AMPPS Standards 
        (Availability, Merchandising, Product, Price and Space)
•       Key account management for key global brands namely, Peroni, Miller Genuine Draft, Grolsch including local beer brands.
•	Maximise Volume and portfolio market share.
•	Influence retail pricing in line with the portfolio pricing ladder matrix.
•	Devise an annual by quarter activation calendar using the designated budget, per brand, per outlet.
•	Develop and maintain relationships with all GSB (Gold/Silver/Bronze) outlets.
•	Allocate merchandising funds accordingly, in line with brand developments.
•	Compile competitor in trade activity.
•	Planning, executing and reporting on all regional activity quarterly.
•	Upward feedback for effective planning of the brand's strategies from a regional perspective.
•	Compiling Reports and SWOT analysis on promotions and campaigns to various regional teams and marketing departments.
•	Represent the SAB global brands within the sales and marketing retail space; product listing across key segmented, brand-aligned outlets & creating meaningful brand interactions to promote trial and purchase.
•	Within 12 months, had managed to negotiate key listings and category availability across all tiered outlets in line with the brand plan. Was therefore seconded to Johannesburg from Cape Town to assist in replicating my winning formula across those outlets and succeeded.

Selected Achievements and Career Highlights:
•	Successfully rebrand a retail beer stronghold in Cape Town from Heineken to our Groslch Brand and then Peroni whilst creating a platform to list many of our ancillary brands
•       Multi-draught tap rollout across key venues strategically in line with the national draught program.

Global Brands Account Manager (Peroni/ Miller Genuine Draft/ Grolsch)

•       Plan, conceptualise & execute regional BTL campaigns aligned to the National Brand plan for all 
         brands.
•	Identifying brand-aligned opportunities across key markets.
•	Implementing and planning the regional brand strategy through: 
      o	Consumer engagements
      o	Brand Activations
      o	Sponsorships
      o	Memorable brand experiences
•	Managing regional and event-specific budgets.
•	Event management.
•	Database creation using online and telephony & email as a primary mediums. (Pre-Social Media)
•	Planning and reporting on regional activity quarterly.
•	Upward feedback for effective planning of the brands' strategies from a regional perspective.
•	Managing and Implementing brand campaigns.
•	Reporting and SWOT analysis on promotions and campaigns to various brand managers.

•	Planned & activated the initial Cafe Peroni concept in Cape Town, South Africa. 
•	Awarded best brand activation at the Taste of Cape Town event for Grolsch & Café Peroni

iTalk Cellular

•	Strategically position iTalk Cellular as a key cellular service provider within the telecommunications industry
•	Segmentation – Segment the existing cellular base and identify target consumers and nodes
•	Brand Plans - Compile annual brand plans encapsulating various monthly themes
•	Advertising Agencies – Engage and manage relationships with advertising agencies and media suppliers; monitor discounts and invoicing of campaigns to ensure competitive pricing
•	Direct Marketing – Creating direct marketing campaigns for the outbound call centre WRT retentions & acquisition
