Software Engineer on Banking - Credit Term Loans

Square Banking is built to empower our sellers to access capital and manage their finances within Square through products like interest-free loans, which have offers automatically generated based on seller payment processing.

Rev.com

Oversaw technical direction and post deployment support for the release of editor built for tens of thousands of transcriptionsts.
    • Managed team's JIRA board, prioritize issues, and structure work so that the team can efficiently make improvements and fix high priority issues on a live service.
    • Designed, developed, and delegated features used across multiple editors including timestamp compatible text editing and editor-connected React components that use custom React hooks. Release improvements to the library through npm packages so that other teams can seamlessly use it to build new editors. 
    • Responsible for collaborating with group product lead to plan beta expansion and directly communicate with users to find improvements.

Architected and implemented a differential based saving infrastructure using Redis that efficiently handles millions of requests for all Rev.com editors. 
    • Created AWS Lambda, S3 Buckets, and API Gateway resources using Terraform to set up transcript format conversion service used by C# backend.
    • Created controller endpoints, editor service, and transcript repository in C# to handle server requests. 
    • Designed Redis schema for editor transcript persistence, and continuously made improvements by analyzing Kibana log data. 
    • Improved save request process time on the server by more than an order of magnitude compared to the old editor's non-diff based infrastructure.

Act as a technical backstop for other engineering teams using our new internal editor library to work on projects like the Rev Zoom Meeting Assistant, rebuilding the customer editor, and creating new features in the transcriptionist editor.

Senior Software Engineer

Full-stack software engineer on the Temi/Editors team

Rebuilt a new foundation for all Rev.com editors used by freelancers and customers to improve performance and scalability. 
    • Owned epics from design to implementation to build a new editor library that supported media timestamp-synced text editing. 
    • Solved complex problems like dynamic per word rendering for dependable timestamp management and implemented efficient editing operations for long documents of 10k+ words.

Acted as extern coordinator to onboard and support the 2019 cohort, and introduced the students to Rev's engineering practices and culture. 
    • Mentored several interns and an extern with full responsibility of technical mentorship - including teaching coding practices, reviewing PR's, assigning issues, and weekly 1on1's. 
    • Participated in recruiting by attending a career fair and interviewing candidates.

Designed and developed a C# service using Delighted's API to bring NPS surveys with Rev.com to gauge customer and freelancer satisfaction.

Software Engineer II

Full-stack software engineer on the Temi team - an automated transcription (AutoTC) service powered by Rev to pilot test market viability

Developed front end features using React, Redux, and Slate for Temi including Editor improvements, UX in Dashboard, Prepay Credits. Collaborated with design and product to continuously improve and develop features for customers.

Developed across the stack to bring AutoTC as a new service to Rev.com. Made changes to the order workflow in C#, built new dashboard features in React, and collaborated with teammates to migrate user accounts and orders from Temi to Rev.

Northwestern University

• Developed and tested code for the Northwestern University Source Separation Library (NUSSL), a Python package of popular algorithms used in audio source separation research
• Implemented algorithms such as the Degenerate Unmixing Estimation Technique (DUET) and Nonnegative Matrix Factorization using Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients, and prepared code for launch at Midwest Music and Audio Day at NU
