The bar is on the floor at this point.

There is so much backlash against AI that even an AI company (Perplexity) just featured an article about how everyone hates AI.

Can’t make this up. 

The most hateful part is that we’re starting to think and write with AI syntax. 

So you can read a 100% human post and still have an ai-induced dry heave. 

I truly hope this is a moment we will look back on as a society and say Never again, never again.

I didn’t design my book cover. 
Noah Kagan did.
But before you call the cops.

Let me explain.

About two years ago, Noah shared a post on how he chose his book cover.

He tested multiple versions of the cover on meta ads.
And let the click data guide the decision.

Almost 8M impressions, letting him know which covers performed the best. 

I thought, oh that's cool.
Banked that information in a drawer in my brain and moved on.

So when it was time for me to make my own book cover.
I didn't start with what do I like.

I started with the most practical thing I could do.

Reference back to his winning design structure.
Took a little inspo from the best performing covers.
And rebuilt my book.

New title, new promise, new voice.

People love to say don't judge a book by its cover.

But everyone does.

And if the cover doesn’t get the clicks/picked up.
The best stuff inside never gets a chance.

Takeaway for creators and business owners.

Don’t copy the outcome. 
Copy the method.

Test. 
Iterate. 
Let the data humble you. 

Then make it yours.

This weekend, I watched how agents can eliminate 115 hours of work in one week.

This weekend I went to an AI agent workshop hosted by Thanh.

He was able to show us workflows running in real time that replaced dozens of small tasks most of us are still doing manually.

Individually, they all feel like quick things we can knock out.
But collectively, they eat into your week.

While 115 hours wasn't normal.
In those weeks you have a crazy workload of repetitive tasks.
It's magical.

And what made the workshop even better was having Flo, the founder of Lindy fly down to Austin and be there in person.

He walked us through: 

How to think of automations
Where automation breaks down  
His favorite and most useful agents 
How founders are actually using AI agents
How he personally uses Lindy to get work off his plate

One of the coolest insights was that with Nano Banana Pros' recent release, you're able to turn workflows into visuals.

Once you're able to see processes laid out, it becomes way easier to spot what could be automated. 

They shared a quote during the workshop by Bill Gurley 

The best way to protect yourself from your job being eliminated by AI is to become the most AI enabled version of yourself.

AI isn't about replacing people.
It's about reallocating your time to higher value work.

If tasks can be handled reliably by an agent.
Your time could be better spent elsewhere.

AI and agents aren't a someday thing anymore.
It's already happening.

If you’re not thinking about how AI fits into your workflow yet, you’re not behind.
But the window to get ahead is definitely open right now.

I've had this 95 Nissan for 15 yrs, it's been my baby and has over 230k miles
I just sold it to Noah.
And he's gonna blow it up. 

I’ve never been more proud of a car than my 1995 Nissan Maxima.

I bought it in high school for $800 while bussing tables after school.
It wasn’t flashy.
It wasn’t fast.
But it was mine.

I worked for it.
Every shift mattered.
And because of that, I treated that car like it was gold.

Logically, I should’ve let it go years ago.
I put thousands of dollars into it when it made zero financial sense.
Any rational person would’ve scrapped it and moved on.

But I couldn’t.

That car represented where I came from.
What I was willing to do to get something on my own.
It was my version of keeping the first chapter intact.
Kind of like how Ludacris kept his Acura Legend as a reminder of the grind.

Over the years, life happened.

At one point, a family member needed a car to get to work.
I lent it to them because that’s what you do.
When I got it back, it was in worse shape than when I let them borrow it.

Still… I fixed it.
Even replaced the transmission when it went out.

Because I wasn’t just fixing a car.
I was protecting a memory.

But seasons change.

Recently, I realized something hard but necessary:
Some things help you get here…
but won’t serve you where you’re going next.

As proud as I was driving that Nissan Maxima
No matter what nicer car was parked next to it.
It was time.

When Noah and his friend came to buy it, they joked,
“I hope you’re not emotionally attached to this thing.”

All I said was
“I hope you’re not going to do anything crazy like blow it up.”

They laughed.

And honestly?
There’s no better way for Hooptie to go out than with a bang.

That car did its job.
It carried me through a chapter I’ll never forget.

Helped me move from my hometown to college.
Drove my now wife and me to countless dates.
Hauled all the baby stuff and dog around.
 
And letting it go doesn’t erase where I came from.
It just means I’m ready for what’s next.

Some things aren’t meant to follow you forever.
They’re meant to get you started.

And that’s more than enough.

Cash price for these two tickets was $14,000+
We were going to New Zealand and we almost missed the flight.

And the reason for it was really dumb.

We drove to Houston early that day from Austin.
We got to the airport on time"

I felt great.
Thought we were early.
Thought we had time to hang out in the lounge.

After going through security, I looked up.

Final boarding call.

I misread the time on our tickets.
I suck at military time.

We were basically speed walking through the terminal like it was an Olympic event.

We were one of the last ones on. 

We made it.
Barely.
And then I had that I can't believe this is real moment.

This was the longest business class flight I'd ever booked.

When I first got into points and miles, I genuinely thought flights like this were a myth.

Like a unicorn people post on Instagram to make you feel poor.

The turning point wasn’t finding a secret trick.

It was changing how I think about booking a flight with points.

Most people try to use points like cash.
I want this exact date, this exact route, this exact time.

That’s the fastest way to get frustrated.

The advantage in the points game is flexibility.

Know where you want to go but stay open on how you get there.

Book what’s available now.
Keep an eye on the flights you actually want.
Swap when the better seats open up.
Always have a backup plan because awards are like cats, they do what they want.

It’s not glamorous in the moment.

And it's going to mean.

Booking last minute.
Changing airports.
Driving three hours to another city.
Checking availability like it’s your part time job.

But when the stars align and it hits. 

There’s no better feeling than laying fully flat, taking a nap, and waking up halfway across the world to some tasty waffles on a flight you didn’t pay for the normal way.

If you’ve ever tried to use points and thought, this is impossible.

It’s not impossible.
You just need to play by their rules, not yours.

What’s the #1 thing that confuses you about using points?

I’m not Black just today.
I’m Black every day.
Today just happens to be a day when people are more comfortable acknowledging it.

Yesterday reminded me why that matters.

I was walking through my neighborhood with my wife, daughter, and dog.

Doing nothing special.

Just existing.

A white Silverado drove past us.

A passenger leaned out the window and yelled.

“We don’t like your kind around here,” followed by the n-word.

And then they drove off.

I chuckled and brushed it off.
I’ve learned how to do that over time.
But my wife was shaken.

Because while moments like this aren’t new to me, they’re never normal.
And they’re never okay.

Racism doesn’t always show up loudly.

Most of the time it’s subtle.
Dismissive.

Quiet enough to plausibly deny.
But yesterday was a reminder that it’s still alive.

Still present.
Still real.

Which is why being an ally isn’t something you turn on for a holiday, a post, or a month.

An ally is someone who shows up when it’s uncomfortable.
When it’s inconvenient.
When there’s nothing to gain.

Someone who sees you for who you are, not what you provide.

Not the color of your skin.
Not how palatable you make others feel.

As MLK said, it’s about the content of character.

So yes.

Today we may celebrate Blackness more openly.
But it’s lived every day.

Through the joy.
Through the fear.
Through the quiet walks that shouldn’t carry moments like that.

And the work of allyship lives there too.

Traveling with a toddler isn't for the weak.

They're finally on the move.
Curious about everything.
And absolutely impossible to contain.

But I'd take this 10/10 times over staying at home.

I'm not going to lie.
It's harder than being at home.
But also much easier than the first time we did it. 

Over time we've figured out what works and what doesn't.
Keeping her schedule consistent while traveling has been huge.
Things that felt overwhelming the first couple of trips are now doable. 

Not that they're easy.
But challenges change.

Every trip brings something new to figure out.
And it can't be avoided.

What makes it worth it is watching her experience the world. 

New places, Sounds and faces.

She's learning in ways that would be hard to replicate by staying home.

And while the joke that traveling with a toddler is just babysitting somewhere else holds true. 

It does come with a better view.

Because we're not waiting for things to be perfect.
We're making memories while she's still young.
And there's nothing better than that. 

Harder? Absolutely!
Worth it? 100%

I’m recording the audiobook right now.
Going through the book again, I finally see how much value is packed into it.
Way more than I realized while writing it.

The best thing hasn't been the strategies.

It's been the early reviews.
“I wish I had this earlier.”

Not because people didn’t know about points.
But because they waited too long to use them.

Travel doesn’t get easier with time.

It gets more expensive.
More complicated.

And harder to align with the people you want to go with.

That’s why I wrote this book.

Not to teach tips.

But to remove the friction that keeps people from actually traveling.

Most people don’t regret the trips they took.
Only the ones they delayed.

I sold my car on Facebook Marketplace yesterday.
And within 24 hours, it was on fire.

I owned the car for years.
A bunch of memories, time and money spent keeping it on the road.

To me, it was more than just a silly beater. 
To anyone else, just a tool.

When I saw pictures of what they did to it.
It bummed me out.

But it was a reminder.
What you see value in, someone else won't.

Not because they’re evil.
Not because they’re wrong.
But because they don’t have your memories.
They don’t have your context.
They don’t see what you see.

The same goes for dreams. 

The thing you care about most.
The business idea, the creative project, the career move.
Other people will often look at it and think.

That's a waste.
That's not realistic.
Why would you spend your time on that? 

They don't say that to be mean.
They're saying it because from the information they have, it has no value.

But if you don't take your dreams seriously, nobody else will.
If you don't protect them, someone else will set them on fire and not even give it a second thought.
If you don't run with them, someone else will decide what they're worth. 

Your dreams don't need to be approved by everyone.
They need your commitment.

Value is subjective. 
And the only person who can assign meaning to your lie is you.

Just post.
Most people quit before the part that works.

Post the idea.
See what lands.
If it's terrible, change it.
If it hits, learn why and do it again.

I've made a conscious effort to show up more on LinkedIn. 

With no expectations.
And this is what happened.

No crazy viral moment.
No overnight follower spike.
No one post changing everything.

I did have some decent posts.
And I did rack up over 400k impressions by doing the boring part. 

I showed up consistently.
Sent connection requests every week.
Talked to real people on and off the platform.
Tried to provide value even when the numbers were low.

And as much as I didn't want this to be true for me.

Some things can't be rushed.
And LinkedIn is definitely one of them.

The compounding doesn't happen because you crack some sort of algorithm.
It happens because people see you enough times to decide.

Hey this person actually knows what they're talking about.

So if you're waiting until you feel ready...don't.

Press post.
Learn from the responses.
Adjust.
Repeat.

I teamed up with InsideHook to answer 10 big points and miles questions their readers had.

What stood out wasn’t that people didn’t have enough points.

Most people think trips like these require a massive amount of points.

Nope, you just need to understand how free night certificates work.

The part most people miss.

Some credit cards don't give points as sign up bonuses.
They give you free night certificates instead. 

Those certificates have a point cap.
But what's not well know is that you can often top them off with extra points.

That's where the real leverage comes in.

For example - yes, it's real I just found dates that worked May 10th-20th

At Le Meridien Maldives Resort & Spa, you can find nights as low as 53,000 points.

Many Marriott free night certificates max out at 50,000 points.
But you can top them off with up to 15,000 additional points.

Airlines use a psychological trick that makes you stop searching too early.
And most people never realize it.
When you search for award flights, airlines usually show you their own mileage prices first.

What they don’t highlight is that cheaper award seats are often sitting right next to them.
Bookable through their partner airlines.

Quietly out of sight
Out of mind

Most major airlines belong to one of three alliances
Star Alliance
SkyTeam
Oneworld

These alliances allow airlines to share routes, planes, and inventory.
For travelers, that means you can book a flight through one airline
and actually fly on a completely different airline within the same alliance.

Same seat.
Same destination.
Often far fewer miles.

A great example is Air Canada.

Because of its alliances and partnerships, you can book flights on 50+ airlines using Air Canada points.
Often for 40-60% fewer miles than booking directly with the airline operating the flight.

But the catch is.

If you don’t know where to look
If you don’t understand alliances
If you only search one airline’s program

You’re probably overpaying with your hard earned miles.

Airlines aren’t doing anything wrong.
They’re just counting on you to stop at the first option you see.

The biggest wins with points don’t come from loyalty.
They come from knowing the system.

And once you do, you realize how much value has been hiding in plain sight.

Over 34,209 flights were cancelled or delayed yesterday.
And today is not looking any better.
Here are 5 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸.

1) 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗢𝗥 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗱, 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱.
Not a voucher. Not airline credit. A refund.
If you don’t want to travel anymore, don’t let the agent “helpfully” steer you into a voucher.

2) 𝗕𝗮𝗱 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 = 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 (𝗮𝗸𝗮 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀) 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱.
When airlines issue waivers, you can usually change flights without a change fee.
But they’re time sensitive, and the window can be weird.
Turn on airline app notifications and check “Travel Alerts” for your airline before you head to the airport.

3) 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲. 𝗕𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆. 𝗥𝗲𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗱.
The people who get stuck are the ones who find out last.
Your job is to spot trouble early and be first in line to grab remaining seats.

Weather can create surprise hotel nights, meals, and rebooking costs.

So if you’re loyal to Delta, that’s fine.
Just don’t limit your points to it.

Earn with: Chase Ultimate Rewards, Bilt
Why: Transferable points and timing sales beats hoarding Rapid Rewards.

2. Delta
Book with: Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, Flying Blue
Earn with: Amex, Chase, Capital One, Bilt, Citi Thank You
Why: Delta price is high with SkyMiles. Partners often don’t.

1. American
Book with: Alaska Mileage Plan, Qatar Avios
Earn with: Bilt (Alaska), Amex/Chase/Capital One (Avios)
Pro move: Transfer your Avios from other Avios partners like British Avios to Qatar Avios to book AA flights
Why: AA miles are hard to come by and Alaska miles are a great alternative. 

Rule of thumb:
Don’t earn miles assuming you need to book there.
Earn transferable points, then redeem through the cheapest partner.

One of the most interesting things I learned while on the cruise is something most people will never know. 

When a massive cruise ship docks or leaves port with 5,000+ people on board the captain doesn’t do it alone.

Even though they’ve sailed thousands of miles and crossed entire oceans, they still rely on a local expert.

The harbor pilot.

The process is wild.

A small bright orange or yellow boat pulls up next to the moving ship.
If you squint you can see it in the picture.

The harbor pilot climbs a ladder onto the vessel while the boat is still moving.
Once onboard they don’t take over
They advise.

They guide the captain through that specific port.

The currents.
The depth.
The tight turns.
The quirks no map fully captures.

Every port is different.

And even the best captains know that local knowledge can be the difference between a smooth docking and catastrophic damage.

Life works the same way.

You can be capable.
Experienced.
Smart.
Hard working.
And still need a local expert.

Someone who’s been exactly where you’re trying to go.
Someone who understands the nuances.
Someone who helps you avoid mistakes you don’t even see coming.

The captain doesn’t lose authority by asking for help.
They protect the ship.

Sometimes the smartest move isn’t pushing harder.
It’s finding the right guide so you don’t sink something that took years to build.
