I built a Custom GPT for pitch decks.

It worked until I hit the 8,000 character limit. Had to split it into 3 separate GPTs just to handle one deliverable.

Tape and glue.

Then I tried Claude Cowork. One skill. No limits. No splitting. That was the day I stopped building Custom GPTs forever.

If you're still on ChatGPT and wondering what you're missing — here's the honest breakdown.

Claude isn't one tool. It's six:

Here's your 30-minute setup:

Minutes 0-5: Go to claude.ai/download. Get Pro ($20/month). Open the app. Click the Cowork tab.

Minutes 5-10: Create a file called about-me.md. Write three things: what you do, how you communicate, and one example of work you're proud of.

Minutes 10-15: Select your folder in Cowork. Type: "Read my files. Then ask me questions before doing [your task]." Watch what happens — Claude generates a clickable form to clarify exactly what you need.

Minutes 15-20: Install a plugin. Click Customize in the sidebar. Browse. Pick Marketing, Sales, or Productivity. Type / to see slash commands.

Minutes 20-30: Give it a real task you need done this week. Not a test prompt. A real deliverable.

Two settings most people miss:

→ Select Opus 4.6 as your model (not the default)
→ Turn on Extended Thinking — it forces Claude to reason before responding

The founders who get the most from Claude aren't prompt engineers.

I cancelled my ChatGPT subscription 3 days ago.

12,206 of you read about it. 133 visited my profile.

Then, on a live client call, I proved why.

A dental clinic owner joined our call. He shared one document. A single page describing his ideal patient, his core offer, and the one problem he solves.

Claude Cowork read it. From that single page, it identified the perfect patient profile. Built the complete offer with pricing, bonuses, urgency, scarcity, and a guarantee. Formatted the whole thing into a ready-to-send proposal.

Then it wrote the campaign posts.

Then the email sequences.

Then the LinkedIn DMs.

Then the campaign calendar.

I didn't copy a single thing between tools. I didn't prompt it 14 times. I didn't split anything into "Part 1, Part 2, Part 3" like I used to with Custom GPTs.

That last part matters.

My Custom GPT for pitch decks? I had to split it into three separate GPTs because of the 8,000 character token limit. Slides 1 to 5 in one. Slides 6 to 14 in another. The rest in a third.

Claude Cowork doesn't have that problem. It handles the full complexity in one conversation.

But here's what really changed my mind.

I typed "write me a newsletter." Three words.

It opened my Notion. Scanned my workspace. Found my business context, my programs, my content strategy. Identified five topic candidates. I picked one.

It wrote the draft. 1,100 words. It didn't read like AI. It read like me.

Then it added the newsletter to Notion by itself. Suggested subject lines. Created social posts to promote it. Set up a scheduled task: draft every Monday, review every Wednesday.

I didn't ask for any of that.

Remember in The Matrix when they upload Kung Fu directly into Neo's brain? That's what a Claude Cowork skill is.

You take your years of expertise. Package it into a skill. Upload it. And now AI doesn't just know what to say. It knows how you work.

Custom GPTs were smart notepads. You talked. They responded. You copied. You pasted. You organized.

Claude Cowork is a general manager who never forgets a step.

The question isn't whether AI replaces your process.

It's whether you package your expertise before someone else does.

It changes everything.

People are building entire careers just by showing up here consistently.

I spent 8 months building custom GPTs on ChatGPT.

Claude Cowork made all of them obsolete in 47 minutes.

The mechanism is called progressive disclosure and it changes everything.

Here is what I discovered.

Custom GPTs are isolated containers.

Each one lives in its own chat window. You jump between them. You paste context back and forth. And when your task gets complex, the AI starts forgetting things because it is carrying too much at once.

I thought that was just how AI worked.

It is not.

Claude skills work differently.

A Claude skill is an SOP written in Markdown. It has a name, a trigger phrase, and a full instruction file. But here is the key: Claude only loads the full file into memory when you actually need it.

Every other skill stays in the background as a lightweight summary.

That is progressive disclosure.

The result: you can have hundreds of skills available in a single chat window, chain them together without switching tabs, and Claude never gets confused because it is not carrying dead weight.

Last week I tested this properly.

I opened one Claude Cowork window and launched a complete LinkedIn campaign for a client.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟭: I triggered my Campaign Launcher skill. It pulled the client's positioning document, built the offer using the Hormozi Value Equation, and mapped the 3-post campaign sequence.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟮: Without closing anything, I triggered my LinkedIn Post Writer skill. It wrote all 3 posts using a scroll-stopping hook structure engineered to make founders pause mid-scroll.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟯: I triggered the Outreach skill. It drafted 3 days of DM scripts and email follow-ups.

One window. Three skills. Full campaign.

With custom GPTs, that would have been 3 separate sessions, 3 rounds of pasting context, and 3 chances for the AI to lose the thread.

With Claude Cowork, it was one clean chain.

The other thing skills do that GPTs do not: they self-improve.

When I approve a strong output, the skill can save it as a reference example for next time. The AI gets better at my taste over time, not just better at the general task.

This is not a feature comparison post.

It is a workflow shift.

Skills fix that.

Not:

If you post but don’t comment with intent…

Over 700,000 people have now pledged #QuitGPT. ChatGPT uninstalls surged 295% in 24 hours. And Claude just hit #1 on the US App Store for the first time.
 
The shift is not anecdotal anymore. Here is the data. And how to actually make the move.
 
What triggered the exodus:
 
On February 28, OpenAI announced a deal with the Pentagon. Hours earlier, Anthropic publicly refused to let Claude be used for mass surveillance or autonomous weapons.
 
That contrast hit people hard. And the numbers followed.

But here is the part nobody is talking about.
 
Most people's ChatGPT is a junk drawer.

Do not migrate the mess. Migrate what matters.
 
Here is how I did it:
 
Step 1. Open ChatGPT. Paste this prompt:
 
"Export everything you know about me. All stored memories, preferences, communication style, and custom instructions."
 
Step 2. Read the response. Delete anything outdated. Keep what is still true about how you work and think.
 
Step 3. Open a Claude Project. Paste the cleaned version as context.
 
Claude now has a working model of you without the baggage.
 
If you want the full history, go to ChatGPT Settings, Data Controls, Export Data. OpenAI emails you a zip file. But do not dump all of it into Claude. Pick the 5 to 10 conversations that represent your current best thinking.
 
Projects are Claude's superpower. Think of each one as a dedicated team member for a specific area of your work. One for clients. One for content. One for strategy.
