I'm 34 years old. I've never had a full-time job.

Not once.

No, I did not grow up rich without needing to.

My dad passed when I was 13, my mom made $26,000 CAD, and he left her with an invalid life insurance policy. He had changed it to void unless he was 65 years old or older

He did that 2 days before local laws changed where your spouse needed to approve life insurance policy changes. 

He also left her with tons of debt on credit cards she didn't know about.

So she was forced to file for bankruptcy.

We were real poor.

I managed to go to university only because she moved to Vancouver with me.

And I paid for it by aggressively applying for scholarships. 75% of it was covered.

Yet, I've never used that degree.

Since then I've:

- Taught myself programming
- Worked as a freelance developer
- Worked as a freelance copywriter
- Lived out of a backpack for 3.5 years as a digital nomad
- Started two 7-figure revenue businesses in the marketing industry

At no point was I hungry, broke, or homeless.

People think that forging your own path is risky.

What I think is risky is taking out a mortgage based on a full-time job that can be taken away from you at any moment

As a freelancer, you have numerous income streams—losing one isn't existential.

As a business owner, your job can't be taken from you. You make more if you find a way to provide more value to people at scale.

This is why I've dedicated my life to helping people start, build, and grow companies.

I've started receiving hate comments finally🥳


This month, I received mean comments on about half my posts!

"this is not how you should post" 
(ok sir! please send me your million dollar playbook that helped you gain 49 followers!)

"You're bringing the wrong vibe to LinkedIn"
(wdym you got offended by a joke on vanilla essence?)

"seems like you're selling me something🤢"
(nothing for you, sir! I don’t sell a brain!)

Etc etc etc…

If they ever got a chance, they'll even start hating me for having 10 fingers and not 12.

Few weeks ago, it used to hurt a LOT! 

Because, I signed up for building a personal brand bro! 

Receiving hate wasn't a part of the agreement!!🫠

But now?

It has become a total entertainment source!

I gossip about it with friends! 
We laugh at this stuff. 
We stalk accounts. 
It's too much fun!

Because….what else SHOULD I do? 

What else CAN I do?

I swear, if I could, I would send a wild Gorilla to every hater's home.

But since that's not legal, I'll go about my life…thinking that, these people are, AT LEAST, giving me some extra engagement💅🏻

I think I'm still embarrassed by my tongue slips in the video. And I still think I shouldn't have posted it.

Writing a catchy hook is not rocket science.
 
 
It's not a cake walk either.
 
It takes multiple sighs, failed attempts, questioning your existence and
…some extra 600 seconds for one damn line!?
 
And if you roll your eyes and wing it,
Don't be surprised when people don’t stop scrolling past your stuff🥱
 
It's important!
 
10 days ago, when I read A LOT of hooks from people, this carousel was bound to be born!
 
Long story short…you NEED...
💓Subject clarity word, 
💓action word, 
💓outcome and 
💓contrast 
...in your hooks.
 
Though that's not all and there's much more we can learn around hooks, I love slashing things down to the essentials.
 
And these. Are. The. Essentials.
 
The get 80% of the job done! That pretty good I guess?💅🏻
 
As a disclaimer, the hook is just a garnishing. Packaging.
 
No garnishing works if the dish tastes 🤢
So yes! Work on the hooks…they are important.
 
But also know, that content counts. The most.

I BOUGHT 180 days on a Sunday! 


Seriously!

This weekend, I decided to NOT touch my laptop at all.
No work, AT ALL!

I was all set to do 'interesting stuff' and surprise no surprise!!!
I ended up buying a course and learning ABOUT WORK. On. A. Sunday.

Spent 18000 on an 84-minute course!!!

JUST. 84. MINUTES.

And honestly? No regrets🤓

Why?
Because I had a problem. I was stuck.

Could I figure it out myself? Well, not immediately.
But in 6-12 months? Yes, of course!

But could I wait for those 6-12 months? NO. A BIG FAT NO.

Most people would call it impatience.
I'd call it 'buying time.' 'skipping 180 days of confusion'

When somebody already has the solution to my problem, when he's already fought the battle I am fighting, when he's already invented the wheel, WHY SHOULD I?

Well obviously, if I didn’t have the money, I'd have to wait until I could find a solution.

But when we CAN pay for our problems and solve them in '84 minutes' rather than 180 days…

…delaying solutions....is stupidity.

I still gotta complete the worksheet from the course, so if I don’t post for a while, please know, I'm alive :)

Only one thing scares me online.


It's going viral for the wrong reasons.

Today morning, we were chatting, in the group, about somebody...a fairly famous individual...who posted something...i.d.i.o.t.i.c.

...and attracted huge numbers. PR. Buzz.

Peak virality.

But none for the right reasons.

That's obviously none of my business. 

His life. His choice💅🏻

But when I think about people playing games with their name online, it sends shivers down my spine!

It makes me afraid!

Because even when we can post anything,
even when the internet is everybody's,
the internet is nobody's.

ANYTHING can catch fire.

It spares none. 

And by the time we realise, the damage has been done🙄

How far would you go for your obsession?


Yesterday, I was skimming through my bookshelf to find the next book I'd read!

It was then that my gaze landed on about 2000+ papers...some loose and some spiral bound.

All nicely stacked up.

That...just that, took me some 700 days back, when I was hell CONSUMED by topics like spirituality, vibrations, manifestation, identity shifting and whatnot!

(btw, I still believe in all these. They are real.)

But back then? I was "consumed." I wanted to learn.

I tried to find the best books on the topics.

Turned out, all were decades old and none was available on Amazon or Flipkart or whatever book-selling websites that exist.

I could find PDFs, yes!

But come on! I couldn't read 700 pages per book through a goddam screen!!!!🫩

After losing sleep over this, and crying maybe 10-15 times in 10-15 days (no exaggerations) 

I found out that some businesses provide book printing services (I didn't know)

And? I got 2000 pages PRINTED!!! 

As much as I'd like to end this with "you must be resourceful" and "we must go far enough for worthy obsessions" etc etc etc

the question is,

Is it too late to see a therapist?

After running my brain's mixer-grinder 589 times this month, I'm super relieved to announce that I'm finally working...

After I started creating value based content here on LinkedIn, I started getting a lot of DMs from prospects asking for help with their personal brand, content and leads.
 
But I've said "NO" to 80% people. Because I didn't like what they did.
 
And as a matter of my values, I can't promote anything I don’t believe in. Even when, by all means, I can!
 
So, I've decided to niche down on ONE industry I DO believe in.
Personal development. Coaching.
 
I've grown up with books and dedicated half my years to bettering my ways. (I still suck at half the things but let's pretend I don't.)
 
Promoting personal development is my selfish endeavour. So, it's official💃🏻
 
I've decided to focus all my content on helping COACHES. The people who take the self-help/ personal development industry forward.
 
(That doesn't mean that the fun and jokes go anywhere💅🏻 I'll still be "me." Just that my target audience is getting specific. because....why not?)
 
Long story short, if, as a COACH, you're looking for help with your personal brand and content, don't pretend like I don’t exist.
