I watched this scene from Steve Jobs again last night.

Wozniak tells Jobs the brutal truth: 

"You can't write code. You're not an engineer. You're not a designer. You can't put a hammer to a nail."

Then Jobs responds with:

"I play the orchestra."

Here's what nobody tells you about building companies:

You don't need to be the best at everything.

You don't even need to be the best at anything.

But you do need to know how to make the best people sound incredible together.

Most founders I work with struggle with this.

They think they need to:

→ Write the best code
→ Close every deal personally
→ Design every feature
→ Be the smartest person in every room

It seems like the best leadership is:

→ Hiring people better than you 
→ Creating a vision they believe in 
→ Getting out of their way 
→ Taking responsibility when things fail 
→ Giving them credit when things work

The greatest conductors don't play every instrument.

They make the musicians sound better than they could alone.

In 15+ years working with sales leaders and founders, I've seen this pattern repeatedly:
