By surfacing the hidden signals competitors leave behind from hiring trends and API changes to product documentation updates, we help teams anticipate moves months before they hit the news.

Alongside building companies, I’ve invested in underrepresented founders through funds like W Fund and Hustle Fund’s Angel Squad, and served on boards supporting inclusive entrepreneurship. I also authored “Decoding the Why,” an Amazon best-seller on behavioral science in product design and growth.

With over 25 years of experience in the innovation and start-up space, Steve is a Principal Consultant at Capasiti Consulting Inc., a consultancy working at the intersection of innovation, placemaking and rural economic development. He specializes in innovation ecosystem capacity-building projects, particularly for rural and regional economies, and provides various services, including market intelligence, strategy development, advisory services, public policy development and program development and management.

Steve is the architect of the Innovation Ecosystem Canvas, a tool for understanding the resources and gaps in a community's innovation ecosystem. He has delivered 17 workshops with rural and regional stakeholders in British Columbia, using the canvas to help them better support innovation and knowledge work in their communities. He is also passionate about the transition to a low-carbon economy and advocates for clean, renewable energy and circular carbon solutions. He believes that innovation is not only a source of economic growth, but also a means of creating social and environmental impact.
