That's like saying... "noticed we both appreciate breathing air..."

This is just the worst... cold adding people to webinars they never signed up for.

I've spent 12 months building a competitive intelligence solution.

Here's what I learned about why this problem looks simple on the surface but is incredibly complex underneath:

1. Change detection is brutally difficult.

A scraper hits an error and returns no content—your tool flags that the competitor removed a feature. But they didn't. 

The page just timed out.

A homepage updates its copy—is this a strategic pivot or just a refresh?
Testimonials rotate on every page load—your diff script screams "change detected" constantly.

Most tools treat any change as meaningful. 

The signal-to-noise ratio becomes unusable.

2. You wants to provide insights first, then sources—but it's a chicken-and-egg problem.

The right approach is surfacing "Company X launched Feature Y" with all supporting evidence underneath. Not "Company X just published a news article about Y."

But to identify that insight, you first need to collect and analyze all the raw sources—news articles, tweets, changelog entries, job posts. 

Then you have to work backwards, connecting those scattered sources to the insight they collectively reveal.

Most tools skip this step entirely. 

They dump raw data and expect you to find the patterns yourself.

3. Individual changes mean nothing in isolation.

Three pricing page updates, two executive hires, and a product positioning shift might signal a major strategic move—or might be completely unrelated.

The tools that actually work don't just detect changes. 

They understand context, filter noise, and surface what actually matters.

Since the 20th Century in the West, art is being collected, commissioned, and exhibited in the name of corporations. Various art professionals have been writing texts for companies. My thesis (368 pages) presents an interdisciplinary research on the corporate instrumentalization of art, as well as on the formation of art historical narratives regarding art in corporate context. The first chapter gives an overview of the history and the discourse around art related corporate activities and corporate art throughout the 20th Century. The next chapters offer close readings of three seminal works of corporate commissioned art and their discursive canonization through the medium of text. These are:

Museum for the Workplace: Portrait of a Working Community' (1995) by Clegg & Guttmann for the DG BANK headquarters in Frankfurt; A Project in Two Phases (1994-1995) by Andrea Fraser for the Viennese art exhibition space of insurance company EA-Generali; and an untitled installation (2004) by Maurizio Cattelan for the temporary appropriation of a Milanese city square by luxury brand Trussardi.

Through their variation in kind (office floor, gallery setting, public space), country (Germany, Austria, Italy), genre (participatory art, institutional critique, public installation art), and institutional agenda (presentation as democratic, presentation as self-critical, promotion through stealth marketing), they allow for the critical discussion of a broad spectrum of issues around art related corporate activities and corporate art. 

A close and critical reading of both primary and secondary sources, the comparison of insights won from a thorough analysis of the respective corporate processes with the critical close reading of the texts produced to promote and disseminate the works, uncovers the blind spots and hidden agendas which inform art historical canonization of corporate (commissioned) art.

Previously, I wrote a PhD thesis (368 pages) entitled 'Kunst in bedrijfsopdracht. Bedrijfspublicaties, kunstprofessionals en tegenstrijdige belangen' (2019) about three commissioned works of art between 1994 and 2004 for DG BANK (DZ BANK) in Frankfurt, EA-Generali (Generali) in Vienna, and Trussardi in Milan. 

In my spare time, I have been executing self-started non-profit art projects worldwide. Although less time, I still do take much pleasure in reading about sociology, socio-political philosophy, the petrochemical-finance industry, geopolitics, economy, western esotericism, and anthropology. Physically and mentally I have been trained in Russian Martial Art Cистема for 5 years, low acrobatics and knife fighting were my favorite topics.
