In 2024, I was recognised as an Audit Beacon at The 𝟲𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀, one of my proudest moments. 

As a multilingual communicator, fluent in three languages, I engage effectively with diverse stakeholders up to board level, steering and influencing strategic agendas relating to Environmental, Social and Governance (𝗘𝗦𝗚), Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (𝗗𝗘&𝗜), Artificial Intelligence (𝗔𝗜) governance, and cybersecurity. 

I served as 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 of the Veblen Director Programme, enhancing the board dynamics and unlocking opportunities with global leaders. 

At 𝗚𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲, a FTSE company, I developed audit innovation hubs spanning five continents comprising over 45 high-performing auditors, and advanced the company’s 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 with a new team of data scientists and rollout of digital tools and technologies. 

I was instrumental in supporting Glencore through a turbulent time caused by the commodities crisis, retaining $MM audit services for a carved-out agriculture business, and reducing working capital.    

Over the years, I have headed high-profile fraud investigations and mitigated risks, ensuring compliance during complex situations, and safeguarding positive outcomes. 

I created and maintained Glencore’s 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (ERM) framework, systems and standards, reporting upwards to the board.

Hard work is a poor substitute for being in the right room.

At 26, I was a struggling entrepreneur who had exhausted my savings. Just a few years prior, I had a high-flying career and more money than I could spend.

I wasn't a "better" person back then; I had simply lucked into the right environment. As a young entrepreneur, I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I eventually realized that success is less about effort and more about engineering access. I have since codified the five levers I used to move from the outside to the inside. I call it the CARES framework.

Connections: Your network is a shortcut. A single introduction can collapse years of effort into one conversation. Stop drifting and start being deliberate about who you know.

Authority: Status is a signal of credibility. Whether through board positions, media, or published work, building a profile ensures that people want to back you before you even speak.

Reach: If no one knows you exist, your talent is irrelevant. You increase your "luck surface area" through content, speaking, and community engagement.

Equity: Stop trading only time for money. Wealth and freedom live in assets and deals. Without a stake in the outcome, you are just working harder for diminishing returns.

Service: This is the foundation. If you aren't solving meaningful problems for others, your success will be hollow and temporary. The most successful people serve the largest number of people.

Most ambitious professionals who feel stuck are usually missing one of these levers. They are busy chasing tactics instead of following a framework. When you align these five elements, you stop chasing opportunities and start choosing them.

Stop worrying about being ruined by a single business failure.

When I started out, I was convinced that every move was being watched and judged. I genuinely believed that if a project didn't work, my reputation would be destroyed for life.

I was wrong. The reality is that the most successful entrepreneurs usually have more losses on their record than wins.

Your objective is not to avoid failure at all costs. Your job is to reframe those setbacks so they provide direction rather than causing you to sink. 

When you look at failure as a data point, it stops being a threat.

My own failures have provided three specific assets:
First, they gave me the credibility that only comes from being in the arena and taking real risks. Second, they created a reservoir of practical knowledge that I now share to help others avoid the same traps. Finally, they taught me that a loss is simply one of several outcomes when you take action.

As Warren Buffett points out, the game wouldn't be worth playing if every shot was perfect.

Failure is not the antithesis of success; it is a fundamental part of the journey.

The Hollywood model of employment is the future of business.

Traditional hiring methods are failing because past performance is a poor predictor of future results. Standard interviews rarely reveal true cultural alignment, yet companies continue to take massive risks by committing to full-time salaries before seeing any output.

I hire for results first and sign the contract second.

Every senior leader on my team today started with me as a freelancer. 

Some of them began by handling basic administrative tasks for $10 an hour. A few years later, they are running entire companies for me.

The reason this works is simple: freelancing allows you to witness actual performance before you make a long-term commitment.

The traditional hiring process is backwards. I have found it much more effective to skip the resumes and the endless interviews. Instead, I provide a paid trial and evaluate a candidate based on three specific metrics: responsiveness, communication, and the quality of their output.

This approach quickly separates those who are reliable from those who are merely good at interviewing.

Stop treating your working hours as a badge of honor.

I have been an entrepreneur for 30 years and I can tell you that nobody cares how many hours I put in.

My clients are only interested in the results I deliver. My team is focused on meaningful projects and fair compensation. My shareholders are looking for growth and dividends. Not one of them asks for a timesheet because hours are a participation prize, not a measure of value.

We have drifted into a culture where time spent is the default metric because it is easy to track. However, true efficiency is built on outcome-based thinking.
