Morgridge Center for Public Service

The Morgridge Center for Public Service and the UW-Madison Division of Continuing Studies awarded me $6,000 to implement an independently designed community program. I incorporated elements from a UW Massive Open Online Course about Aldo Leopold into a comprehensive nature curriculum for children age six to eight as well as teenage campers. The curriculum covered concepts related to environmental stewardship, observational learning, ecosystem dynamics, and sustainable initiatives. 

Working under the supervision of UW-Madison Associate Professor Bret Shaw, and in collaboration with YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities' Camp Director Stephanie Lentz, our program educated nearly 100 campers directly, generated 10 service projects, facilitated over 100 hours of community service, and created a new composting system to sustain the summer's 3,000 campers seasonally.

Today's business challenges are messy. Whether you're deciding what products to build, who to build them for, how to bring them to market, or even what processes you need to stand up to make it a reality, you can't touch any one factor without a domino effect dissipating across the system. The complexity of the world today has made even simple problems a house of cards.

That's where I create the most value, bringing clarity to chaos. 

In my work, I arm myself with: 

- Progressive experience leading and influencing brand, marketing, commercialization, and strategic planning for nearly $400M in B2B software and tech products across an array of technical industries
- An interdisciplinary Master’s of Design + Innovation that equips me with a swiss-army-knife of problem-solving perspectives from engineering, business, visualization, art, human factors and more 
- Really good questions that paint a systems-wide picture of a challenge, helping my teams unearth unseen resources, pain points, opportunities, and pivots
- A belief in the art of possible and eye for the future - pragmatically balanced with a bias towards action and a dig-in personality to make great ideas and strategies actually come to life

I bring this compassionate and more-than-human-centered design approach to all of my work (yes, even writing blog posts and building pitch decks!) which helps me dig in to the root of big problems. This lays the foundation to collaboratively create more viable and more efficient solutions - whether its a product story, a business process, or an entirely new venture.
