In Jan. 2020 I renamed my podcast formerly known as Selling with Social to The Modern Selling Podcast.  

Why the change?

Simple.  Ever since the beginning I included topics centered around #Sales, #SocialSelling, #DigitalSelling and #SocialMedia for sales and sales leaders.  As I grew the fan base and followers it transformed into topics ranging from sales motivation, prospecting, managing growth, scaling, closing and many more.  So in 2020 it was relaunched to better connect with all of you, my fans.

I spent 106 consecutive quarters in B2B Sales, Marketing & Leadership roles growing hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue annually and now I have the privilege of motivating sales teams to engage in the Omni-Channel approach to prospecting and buyer engagement.

I'm honored to join the NAWSP Advisory Board, making me the first male and first Latino male to join their leadership team. 
 
The National Association of Women Sales Professionals (NAWSP) was founded in 2016, by my friend, Cynthia Barnes in Metro Detroit. The goal was to create a national organization that could provide women in sales with professional development, training, support, and access to opportunities so that they could reach the Top 1% and Dance on the Glass Ceiling™ Since its inception, the organization has experienced explosive growth, growing to over 14,000 paid members in 30 months.  

Anyone who knows me knows that forming a company and having its team be diversified has been a #1 priority of mine since developing the strategic plan to form Vengreso.  In fact, out of the 39 partners, employees and contractors that we support, there are 22 female Vengresonians!  That equals 56% of our staff.  In addition, of our four founders, 75% are representative of minority backgrounds (2 Latino executives and 1 female executive).

Two words started it all in 2017:
1. Ventas = Sales 
2. Ingresos = Revenue

We had two goals: increase sales and revenue for teams and companies, and thus we became Vengreso.

After making my way into the 100% Club 15 of 18 years in corporate, I started my first company in 2015. 15-months later, I did a 7-way merger and formed Vengreso. We became the world's largest digital sales prospecting training company by 2022.

On Dec. 2020 we gave birth to a new SaaS product called FlyMSG a text expander and personal writing assistant. It was specifically designed to support our sales training programs to help sellers save prospecting time and increase productivity. And, it worked. It worked very well. 

Fast-forward one year later, and I woke up to an alert that a pharmacy had onboarded all of its digital pharmacists to FlyMSG. I then asked how many users we had on the "freemium" service. To my surprise, even though we onboarded only a few hundred users via our sales training programs, we actually had 2,000 users, with 65% being non-sellers!!! 

That is when we knew we had a burgeoning SaaS-based PLG company on our hands. Overnight we went from supporting Sales to supporting every vertical and use case you could possibly think of. 

I wish I could say we were smart enough to have forecast a horizontal application of FlyMSG, we weren't. But, we were in fact smart enough to see the trend!

That trend was further recognized in March 2022 when we were notified that we won one of the most prestigious awards in business you can achieve - a Gold 🥇Stevie Award for FlyMSG Innovation.

As the Director of Sales for Marriott, Summit Watch Park City, I was responsible for Marriott’s sales revenue, customer experience, recruiting and training for all sales and marketing personnel. Among my major achievements at Marriott, my co-manager and I led our sales team to become the number one resort in the Marriott organization, and we were labeled as “The Most Successful Ownership resort in the World.”

By creating a new-hire training curriculum, which was used company wide, I became the highest-ranked female in all of Marriott’s ownership/real estate division. 

Some of my other notable accomplishments include: 

💯 Monitored the daily, weekly and monthly KPI’s that led to breaking a world record in the resort/hospitality industry. Named #1 ownership resort in the world by Vacation Ownership World Magazine. 

💯 Worked closely with management to develop innovative marketing programs, which included: customer enhancement seminars, prospecting strategies, increasing referrals from key accounts by over 76%, and the development and implementation of loyalty programs to ensure customer experience.

Today, my heart is broken in two.
If you’ve been following me a while, you know how much my mother, Sonia Levitin, means to me. 

Holocaust survivor. Force of nature. Mentor. Best friend.    
                 
At 91, she is writing a new play, because slowing down isn't her thing. 
But, last week, she fell hard, and she’s been in the hospital ever since.   
           
She can’t walk, move, or use her hands. 

Watching someone who has spent a lifetime creating suddenly unable to lift a pen brings  heartbreak I didn’t know existed. 

In high school, I once asked her how we, as Jews could be right about our faith and beliefs, and my friends, one Mormon, one Christian, one Catholic, could be wrong. 

She said:

“God has many children. We’re more alike than different. We all want the same things, we just get there in different ways.”

That lesson feels especially important today: 

At your holiday tables,  amid the debates, celebrations, and noise, remember this:

We share more values than we think. We crave the same things, love, belonging, safety, meaning. We just arrive in different ways.

And in that spirit, regardless of your faith, and especially if it’s different from mine, I’m asking....Please pray for my mother, Sonia.
 
For strength. For healing. For many more scenes in the story she’s still writing.

How was it possible that after than two decades of leading a global training company, I had never even heard of the National Speakers Association?

A few years later, I applied, ((a long shot) to serve on the National Board of Directors. I assumed I didn’t stand a chance. But NSA took a chance on me.

I admit it. I have zero boundaries. Never have.
My employees become my friends. We drink together, ski together, and laugh so hard we fall down.

 My clients? They show up at our Thanksgiving table. They light candles with me during the holidays. 
And yes… yesterday one of my favorite clients negotiated next year’s contract with me while my head was in a shampoo bowl.

Why? Because that’s how I like it.

I call B.S.

Eight years ago, I thought LinkedIn was a stuffy Facebook.
Polished headshots. Perfect lighting. Zero personality.

So naturally, I resisted video like it was a bad timeshare pitch.
Then one day, hiking up a mountain, my much-younger employee calls me and says:

“Your newsletters are boring…”
"Excuse me?"
I had spent hours writing and polishing…
“Try video instead. Film one right now and post it!”
Then he dared me:
“Record. Right now. Post it.”

I panicked. No mascara. No hair. No dignity.
But I love a good dare… so I did it.
And WOW:

When Brent Adamson and I first started talking about doing a podcast, I thought we’d dive straight into the sales frameworks. You know, the stuff we both teach every day.

But instead, we talked about something else.

The feeling that so many sellers, including me, carry into the job:
You’re supposed to be focused.
You’re supposed to be composed.

But sometimes, you’re juggling a sick kid, a quiet deal, a team that needs you. And you still have to show up and listen with your whole self.

I used to be that woman — the hard-driving, childless businesswoman who’d say, “What do you mean you need to go to your kid’s school play, don't they record them?"

Then I became a mom. Everything changed.

 I learned fast that you can’t “framework” your way into empathy. Kids call you out on that pretty quickly.

Last month, I keynoted a conference with 300 sales leaders.Instead of sending a generic thank-you email or automated AI follow-up, I did something different.

I recorded one short video. One. Not Spielberg. Not scripted. Certainly not shot in a studio with my hair cooperating.

Then we used AI to personalize the message around it:  names, roles, and a line that made it personalized. I didn’t sit on a stool for three weeks filming 300 versions of my face. I pressed record once.

And the response?

Ten times more engagement than any email, nurture sequence, or “AI-crafted” masterpiece we’ve ever sent.

 Real replies.
 Real conversations.
 Real opportunities.

It reminded me of something we often forget in sales:

Buyers aren’t starving for information. They’re starving for connection.

I admit it...guilty as charged.
