A founder told me yesterday his content needs to be more authentic and when I asked what that meant he sent me three viral vulnerability posts from other founders, 

which is the least authentic thing you can do but nobody wants to hear that.

This happens constantly now. 

Someone sees a post about a mental health struggle or a failed startup that got 200K impressions and thinks that's it, I need to be vulnerable too and then they sit down to manufacture a vulnerable moment that fits the format.

The structure is always identical. 

Rock bottom story. 
Darkest moment. 
Breakthrough realization. 
Lesson learned. 
Tag someone who needs to hear this. 

And it reads exactly like what it is,  a performance of authenticity, not actual authenticity.

Real vulnerability in content is admitting you don't have it figured out without wrapping it in a tidy lesson. 

It's saying I'm struggling with this decision and I genuinely don't know what to do and leaving it there. 

No redemption arc, no breakthrough moment that happened at exactly the right narrative beat.

But that doesn't perform as well because people want the struggle to have been worth it. 

They want proof that vulnerability pays off. 

Which turns the whole thing into inspiration porn instead of actual honesty.

The manufactured low point. 
The perfectly timed breakthrough. 
The lesson that lands a little too clean. 

You can feel when someone's performing sadness versus actually being honest about where they are.

Authentic content isn't about sharing your darkest moments. 

It's about sounding like yourself when you write. 

Having opinions that aren't borrowed from whoever went viral yesterday. 

Being willing to say something 80% of your audience might disagree with because it's actually what you think.

But that's harder than copying the vulnerability format, so most people just reverse engineer the last viral post they saw and wonder why it feels hollow.

I've spent hunders of hours studying what makes personal brands actually convert into revenue and it comes down to one structural element most people ignore,

Narrative consistency, meaning every post, every comment, every story ladders up to one central belief that your audience starts adopting as their own.


Not content consistency. Narrative consistency, there's a difference.

Posting every day means nothing if Monday you're talking about hiring, Tuesday about mindset, Wednesday about AI, and Thursday about cold outreach. 

That's not a brand, that's a content mill with your face on it.

The founders I've worked with who actually generate inbound from LinkedIn all have one thing in common. 

You could read any 5 of their posts picked at random and walk away with the exact same understanding of what they believe and who they help. That's not an accident, that's engineered.

When I build a founder's brand the first thing I do isn't write posts. 

I sit with them and figure out what is the one narrative they want to own. What's the worldview they want their audience to absorb over 30, 60, 90 days of reading their content. 

Once that's locked in everything else becomes easy because now every post has a job. 

Every story has a purpose, every comment reinforces the same belief.

Your audience doesn't convert because they liked one post. 

They convert because over weeks of reading you they started thinking the way you think and then buying from you felt like the obvious next step.

That's narrative consistency, that's the craft.

The amount of founders who think changing their headline to Helping X achieve Y is a personal brand strategy is genuinely concerning.

You grabbed that format from some viral LinkedIn thread in 2024 and thought cool positioning done, it's not. 

It's the same template every other founder in your space is using word for word. 

The guy running a 200 crore business and the guy who started last Tuesday literally sound the same on a profile visit.

But to be honest, your headline doesn't matter that much anyway.

Seriously, six words at the top of a profile, that's what you're spending your energy on? 

Meanwhile your last 20 posts say nothing, no opinion, no stance, nothing that would make someone reading them go oh this person actually thinks differently.

That's the gap, not the headline. The stuff underneath it.

I've had founders come to me with the most generic headlines you've ever seen and their inbound is insane because their posts do the actual work and then there's founders who've A/B tested their headline fourteen times and still hear crickets because their content is just noise.

Nobody ever DM'd a founder saying your headline really spoke to me, that's not how it works.

People binge 3-4 of your posts, something clicks, and then they reach out. 

The headline had nothing to do with it.

Figure out what you actually want to say, the headline is the least interesting problem you have right now.

turns out, i was just oversharing.

not because i shared too much.
but because i shared without intention.

here’s the rule i follow now before i post anything:

• what’s the point of this post
• what do i want you to feel
• what real moment proves it

miss even one, and the post feels off.

saying something vague about how hard leadership can be, doesn’t build trust or clarity.

authority is built when i show:
• the decision i made
• the tradeoff i chose
• the lens i use now

that’s when content stops feeling like journaling
and starts feeling intentional.

nobody "finds" time for content.

you trade it.

here's what that trade actually looks like:

→ less being busy, more being visible
→ less waiting to feel ready, more just showing up

the compounding effect of consistency is real.

it's slow. it's quiet. nobody notices it happening.

but one year from now, you'll either have a body of work that speaks for you... or another year of "i'll start when things slow down."

things don't slow down. you know this.

it was never a time problem.

it was always a priority problem.

5. remove daily friction
↳ capture once. refine later. don’t create on demand.

bonus:

posting feeling heavy usually isn’t a motivation problem. it’s a system problem.

so what actually changed for me?

1. i stopped dismissing my own experience

every decision i made shaped how i think today. that wasn’t “unfinished.” that was earned perspective.

2. i realized authority isn’t built at the finish line

it’s built while you’re still figuring things out. when you share how you think, not just what you know.

3. i understood who i was really posting for

someone one step behind me. scrolling quietly. trying to make sense of the same phase.

once that clicked, posting got easier. 
and more meaningful.
