Yesterday I had the privilege of speaking to an incredible group of Year 11 students as they prepare for their GCSEs at Barking Abbey School .

I reminded them of one simple truth:
“Everybody wants to be great… until it’s time to do what greatness requires.”

No hype. No pressure.
Just mindset, discipline and ownership in this final stretch.

Had the privilege of speaking to a group of Year 11 students yesterday at The Ongar Academy as they received their mock results.

Mocks don’t define you…..they direct you.

They show you where to focus, how to adjust and what’s possible between now and GCSEs in May/June.

The message was simple:

Own the result
Fix the gaps
Finish strong

Proud of these students for choosing growth over excuses.

Even the best speakers feel it, that rush, that heartbeat, that pressure.

But confidence isn’t the absence of fear.
It’s learning to stand tall in spite of it.

Is laziness stopping you from being successful?


Speaking to year 11 students, I wanted to let them know that laziness is a major contributor to failure. 

A lot of the times its the things we don’t do that leads to failure, not your ability.

Find your why, your reason to keep going, a purpose that can push you on the days you can’t push yourself!

It’s 6am. I’ve just left the gym and I’m sitting in my car writing this. I was training with my big bro Mr Beezy  someone who genuinely lives by discipline and consistency, especially when it comes to fitness. In the middle of the session he said something simple but powerful:

“The decisions you make determine your life. You are where you are right now because of the decisions you’ve made.”

That stayed with me.

So many of us hope life will get better. We pray. We wait. We visualise. But we rarely pause to ask ourselves a harder question. What am I doing today that is actually moving me toward the life I say I want?

Your future is not random. It is not luck. It is not prayer without action. It is a projection of your current daily choices. If you do not like what you are projecting, the answer is not to wish harder. The answer is to choose differently.

Small decisions, repeated daily, create outcomes.

Someone important once told me that if I did not change my decisions, I would end up in jail or dead. At the time, that sounded extreme. Looking back honestly, with the choices I was making, it was probably true.

I had to change. Not my intentions. Not my words. My actions.

Growth did not come from one big moment. It came from choosing discipline over comfort. Consistency over excuses. Long term vision over short term relief.

Every day you are deciding something, even when you think you are standing still.

So the real question is this.
What are your daily decisions building?

A message to year 11 students and all students taking exams is this:

Just because it gets difficult, it doesn’t mean it’s not doable.

The only limitations you experience in life are the ones you put on yourself.
