‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’ is the most cliché advice ever given. 

Because in real life, a book is judged by the cover. It’s just a universal fact.

Similarly, no one clicks a video with a bad thumbnail. 

Even if the content is amazing inside, it won’t matter if the outside doesn’t make people curious enough to click.

So instead of blaming the algorithm, fix your first impression.

✅ use short, strong copy that doesn't give away the whole story yet hints enough about what's inside. 

✅ don’t use extremely bright or dull colors - better to go with the video vibe or brand. 

✅ Use a similar style so people start recognizing your videos.

✅ most importantly - think about the packaging, the idea, and the hook, and how you can connect all three in a loop with the thumbnail.

✅ your face card alone makes you stand out from the crowd.

But unlike book covers, the best part about YT is that - you can absolutely change your cover and A/B test with 2-3 options depending on the CTR and analytics.

✨Diary of a freelancer: Week 6✨

This one would be a bit unusual since last week was probably the lowest I had in a while. 

The week before that, I had three opportunities lined up and I was confident I’d close at least 2. 

But, surprise surprise — I couldn’t and it's fine tbh but I still couldn't shake off the feeling that 'maybe im not doing enough'. 

I feel this is just one of those situations when you’re doing everything yet nothing’s working out… and then suddenly everything does??

The only thing I did work on was some ad creatives (ideation + writing) and made an outline for a finance script. 

(and binge watched Alice in Borderland - if spending time with the laptop counts)

Ended the week with a huge cone of ice-cream so we started fresh on monday 🍦


P.S. the pending invoice that was supposed to be cleared by the 5th of this month is still pending though xd.

I’ve been writing content for 5+ years now, yet I still get too emotionally attached with my words.

I find reasons not to delete a sentence and editing becomes a headache at times.

But the difference between good and average content is ruthless editing.

Here’s what helps me detach and actually make my scripts better:

I only keep the video idea and the CTA in mind for this part.

So anything that doesn’t serve the story or drags the narrative further away from the core topic has to be either edited or deleted.

To keep it simple: every line needs to flow towards the CTA and not away from it.

This makes it easier to delete something when you realize the goal isn’t to “say more”, rather, it's to “say what matters”.

✨ Diary of a freelancer: Week 7 ✨

After being overwhelmed with the outreach and no definitive progress, I took a step back last week. 

Since starting this series, I’ve been on 5+ calls, wrote trials for 2 big agencies, 10+ free script samples, and twice as many ideation docs with the cold outreach. 

I wanted to just take some time and reflect back at everything I’m doing and see if I’m putting my efforts in the wrong direction.

You see, 2 years back, I burnt out bad because I refused to take a break and it took me months to get my pace back so I don’t wanna make the same mistake again. 

I put a stop to the outreach, had no major writing tasks except a few ads and one long-form finance script. 

Rest of the time, I spent painting, reading, brainstorming, and analyzing whether I’ve wasted my time with the outreach and trials. 

But before I could reach a conclusion, I got 2 solid leads. 

And thanks to the great connections I’ve made through the outreach in question, and the bits of knowledge I gained from chatting to these super smart people (who’ve been doing this far longer than me) I have the credibility to voice my opinions and share everything I’ve worked on with confidence — and that’s my EDGE. 

I became so obsessed with data and figures lately that I was overlooking the most important thing which is my network. 

So as they say, efforts never really go wasted. It all comes back either in the form of results, learning, or a redirection. 

And putting yourself out there is worth every second of the time.

“Sell me this pen” but make it content edition 📌

I call it: convince me to watch your video (in 30 seconds).

And this is my own personal challenge when I’m writing a script, especially the hook. 

Sure, retention depends on many things: pacing, storytelling, editing.

But everyone on the team has one mission, and that's to do their part perfectly.

And my part is to nail the first 30 seconds.

So I experiment with the hooks the most:

Short vs. long
Problem hooks
Question hooks
No-BS hooks
Even the direct “in this video” hooks

(and I always add 2-3 hook variations in the first draft)

Although, the format depends on two things:

- the goal of the video
- the audience it’s meant for

But the challenge is always the same:

Convince THEM to watch the video in 30 seconds or LESS >>>

This is how I'd map out content plan for a B2B channel looking to get consistent qualified leads each month for YouTube. 

👉🏼 Answer Search Questions (Top of Funnel Content)

When someone types a problem into YouTube, matching their exact words in your title helps your video show up. 

If your intro pays off the promise quickly, watch time goes up. 

Higher watch time = more search and suggested reach. It compounds.

You NEED to have this type of content on your channel regardless to cover the base.

It also helps attract new, high-intent viewers who were already looking for you.

👉🏼 Share the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of your process (Middle of Funnel)

Most people don’t buy a method until they believe the logic. 

“Why” content upgrades beliefs. 

It moves someone from “will this work for me?” to “oh, that’s why my current approach is failing.” 

You become the trusted guide, rather than a random tutorial.

This type of content helps your prospect self-qualify and lean in. 

You’re basically de-commoditizing your offer because thinking is harder to copy than steps.

👉🏼 Share Proof & Objection Handlers (Bottom of Funnel)

Buyers don’t lack information. They fear risk. 

And proof lowers risk. 

When they see people like them win, and hear you address the exact objection they were going to bring up, you remove friction before the call.

The only content strategy that works for YouTube in2025 is:
 ↳ Attention first; trust second. 

And I swear by it. 

Everyone talks about “value” — but value 
means nothing if no one’s watching. 

The YT algorithm doesn’t reward your credentials. 
It rewards your ability to stop the scroll. 

That’s why we’re seeing a surge in 
new content creators and channels blowing up! 

Because the algorithm is pushing fresh content and new faces more than ever.

- your views don’t matter.
- your subscriber count doesn’t matter either.

If your content hooks, you show up on feeds — period.

The biggest creators today (Alex Hermozi, Iman Gadzhi, Ali Abdaal, etc.,) have been doing the exact same thing for years:

- hook hard
- deliver value
- stay consistent

They didn’t build trust with one video. 
They earned it by showing up a hundred times. 

and it led them to creating empires. 

So the formula hasn’t changed at all. 
But the ‘playing field’ indeed has. 

That’s why you’re strategy matters so much. 

And if you’re not thinking like this in 2025…
you’re out of the game before if it even starts.
