I'm a passionate Data Scientist with a Ph.D. in Deep Learning (Erciyes University) and a proven track record of delivering business value through cutting-edge machine learning and deep learning techniques.

My expertise lies in extracting actionable insights from complex data.  At Al Jazeera Media Network, I leveraged my skills in Tableau, Google Data Studio, and Python (TensorFlow, PyTorch) to develop a solution that increased audience retention by 15%.

Before that, I authored a research paper on deep learning for medical image classification, published in a prestigious medical journal.  This experience honed my skills in computer vision and deep learning applications.

Beyond technical proficiency, I bring strong leadership qualities. As the former CTO of a digital marketing agency, I led cross-functional teams and developed successful technology roadmaps.

I'm a lifelong learner with certifications in Data Analysis with Python and emerging technologies like Augmented Reality.  I'm eager to leverage my skills in a fast-paced environment to tackle complex challenges and drive innovation through data-driven solutions.

Now I am using my technical skills for the good of society.

After achieving a top ranking in Tier 1 of Chambers in 2009 I left private practice for a new challenge, to work in-house for a single family office where I remained for many years becoming their Head of Legal. I rejoined private practice in 2021 on a part time consulting basis to refocus on the priorities in my life and work.  Based in Europe my priorities now include an organic farm near the sea in Turkiye whilst developing a consulting practice involving my colleagues in Hong Kong and training my son Luke.

As a solicitor I have over 30 years of experience of working with the very wealthiest in society and I have a particular niche expertise in family office practice ranging from all aspects of wealth advisory and operations to governance and dispute management. However I have at all times remained grounded in a modest family life founded in our core values and I put a premium on the JEDI qualities of Justice, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion for all. 

I try to avoid the dark side though sometimes the SITHs in the world just have to be tackled head on. As such I am a vigorous defender of human rights, the rule of law and professional ethical duties and I take seriously the responsibility of solicitors to shine a light on the egregious misconduct at times found in our profession to our eternal shame. 

In my practice for the wealthiest in society I have always focused on balancing the right to personal liberty and to enjoy the privileges of hard work and entrepreneurship with social responsibility and respect for universal human rights.

I have supported industry variously as a regular conference speaker on wealth management issues and as an active executive member of STEP for a large part of my three decades as a solicitor. 

Now I plan to focus primarily on my personal priorities, which include helping not just family offices, but also the least wealthy and most vulnerable through public interest advocacy for the rule of law and global custodianship which I will channel through the Iscariot Foundation and alliances with like minded organisations. For me this means combatting the evils of dehumanisation, global economic crime and ecological recklessness through the promotion of knowledge, ecumenical values and building global citizenship.

I’ve always thought Ian was great now I know it.   As solicitors our independence is the most important thing in performing our duties.

I settled one case over breakfast by telling a client I wouldn’t let him give evidence (because his memory was lousy, he was totally unconvincing, and he appeared to be guilty as sin based on the file I read) and he must just settle.

The real problem is sometimes ego.  Disagreeable or proud people make mistakes and then are prepared to die on that hill (with their entire army) rather than back down.

Occasionally, telling my most difficult clients that the reason they are in litigation is because they are disagreeable people, actually helps.  It gives them the perspective they need and gets me the instructions I need to find a solution.
