The 7/10 is the most dangerous psychological trap in life (and business). 

I was catching up with a friend this week. She is brilliant, holds a senior B2B marketing role, after MBA from a reputed B school and makes a very comfortable 18 LPA.

by every traditional metric, she has "made it."

but she is quietly, deeply miserable. she showed me a fully fleshed-out blueprint for her business. it has been sitting there, untouched, for two years. she hasn't executed a single step.
Why?
cuz her life is a 7 out of 10.

it pays just enough to keep you comfortable, but not enough to buy your freedom.

it drains just enough energy to keep you tired, but not enough to make you angry enough to quit.

there is a biological reason high-achievers get stuck here.

behavioral economists call it Loss Aversion.

science proves that the human brain feels the pain of losing something twice as intensely as the joy of gaining something.
 
at a 2/10 (toxic boss, zero money), your brain screams: "Jump." 
you have absolutely nothing to lose. survival instinct forces you to build.

 at a 7/10, your brain panics: "what if I fail and lose this 18 LPA?
“w if I pivot my business model and lose my safe clients?
you have just enough to lose. so you freeze.

rock bottom forces a pivot. 7/10 forces a compromise.

a 2/10 ruins a year of your life.
a 7/10 ruins a decade.

the only way to escape the trap is to realize that comfort is not an asset. it is a debt.

you are paying for today's safety with the compound interest of your future regret.

if you are terrified to make a move right now because things are "pretty good"—that is the exact sign you need to jump.

be honest with yourself : are you building your 10/10, or are you just protecting a 7/10?

“keep your options open."

we spend our entire careers collecting safety nets. we get the safe degree. take the corporate job. we build multiple streams of income before mastering one.

we do it to maximize "optionality."
but nobody warns you about the Optionality Trap.

when I finished my MBA, the pressure to secure a "Plan B" was suffocating. 

everyone around me wanted me to take a secure banking or government job. the ultimate safety net.

and if I had kept that option open, I would have never built a global consulting firm, i’d have been too comfortable.

even the smartest people I know are paralyzed by it. 

they have so many "good" backup plans that they never fully commit to the "great" one.

• they build a startup on the weekends, but keep the 9-to-5.
• they launch a product, but refuse to pick a niche because they don't want to "lose a customer segment."
• they want to build an empire, but they refuse to burn the boats.

the brutal truth about human psychology:

if you always have a Plan B, your brain will automatically default to it the second Plan A gets hard.

every massive breakthrough in business, relationships, and wealth comes from a moment of singular, terrifying commitment.

stop trying to keep every door open.

8 months ago, i signed a contract with a nasdaq listed founder.

it was the kind of deal that changes your year.

when we got on the kickoff call, i looked him up on linkedin.
i expected to see him in my comments. maybe a "like" here or there.

he wasn't even following me.
he had never liked a post. never commented. never shared.

i asked him:
"how did you find me?"

he said:
"mishka, i’ve been reading your posts for 8 months. an exec screenshotted your framework on 'executive presence' and sent it to my board. when we were ready to hire, you were the only name on the list."

that moment changed how i view this platform.

we are obsessed with "engagement."
we panic if a post gets 50 likes instead of 500.

we think "silence" = "failure."

but internet culture follows the "90-9-1 Rule":
• 1% create (me, you).
• 9% engage (the people commenting "great post!").
• 90% lurk (the decision-makers).

your ideal client: the ceo, the vc, the f500 exec, is in the 90%.

they are too busy to comment.
they are too guarded to "like" a controversial opinion.

but they are watching.
they are screenshotting.
and they are judging your competence in private.

don't let the vanity metrics fool you!

it’s sunday morning. the building is completely empty.

the best time to be in the office is when nobody else is here. 

no slack pings. no "quick syncs." no fires to put out.

people say working on a sunday is toxic hustle culture.

and if you are doing it because you are drowning in tasks, they are right.

but there is a massive difference between working out of panic and working out of peace.

monday to friday; you are managing your team, answering clients, and reacting to the market.

but a quiet sunday morning with a coffee and empty office is is where the actual strategy happens.

i used to feel guilty for opening my laptop on the weekend.

now i realize that 3 hours of uninterrupted silence is the ultimate luxury for a founder.

be honest: is working on a sunday a toxic habit for you, or a therapeutic one?

Quick reality check: if you still have to explain what you do in every meeting, your positioning isn’t working.

you are probably treating a marketing problem like a sales problem.

most founders think they need better closers, slicker pitch decks, or more aggressive follow-ups. 

but the reality is: you cannot out-sell market confusion.

when you enter a zoom room and have to spend the first 15 minutes justifying your existence, you have already lost your leverage.

you have entered the call as a vendor.
and vendors always get price-shopped.

elite positioning does the heavy lifting before the calendar invite is even accepted.

here are 3 brutal signs your positioning is completely broken:

1. the "we do everything" trap.
if your answer to "what do you do?" includes the word "and" more than twice, you are drowning in your own complexity. the market doesn't pay a premium for a swiss army knife. they pay a premium for a scalpel to fix a specific, bleeding wound.

2. you are selling the flight, not the destination.
if you find yourself explaining your "proprietary 5-step methodology" instead of the exact financial or operational outcome you guarantee, your prospect is already asleep. executives buy outcomes. they do not care about your internal operations.

3. the zero-trust cold open.
if a prospect gets on a call with you and hasn't consumed a single piece of your content, read your thoughts, or seen your point of view, you are walking into a trap. you are forcing your sales team to build trust from absolute zero.

when our clients walk into a boardroom or a zoom call, the power dynamic is already flipped.
their target prospects already trust their frameworks.
their investors already know their exact thesis.

they don't waste a single minute explaining who they are or what they do, because their digital footprint already did the selling.

on 9/10 calls i take, the ceo already knows exactly how my brain works before we even say hello (through my LinkedIn obv). they aren't asking what i do. they are asking how fast we can deploy.

build a moat around your digital positioning
reinforce it consistently.

the most expensive mistake a founder or executive can make in 2026 is this:

“hiding behind a corporate logo.”

we are officially living in the zero-trust economy.

ai just made it entirely free for a 19-year-old to spin up a slick corporate website, generate 500 seo articles, and fake a massive brand in a weekend.

modern B2B buyers have stopped trusting the usual corporate marketing. they don’t trust:
– PR statements
– 40-page whitepapers
– Brand slogans

they trust people.

9 out of 10 calls i get on; the prospect already trusts my brain before we even get on the first zoom call, because they’ve already checked out my profile.

and yet, I still meet CEOs running $20M+ companies who refuse to write publicly because it feels “unprofessional” or “too exposed.”

really, they are just terrified of their board's judgment.

so they stay quiet. and they pay the "faceless penalty."

if the market doesn’t know:
– how you think
– what you believe
– how you make decisions
– what you stand for

then you are interchangeable.
and interchangeability is expensive.

it’s about your entire moat:
1. employer branding: the top 1% of talent doesn't want to work for a "company." they want to work for a mission led by a person they respect. if you are invisible, you are only hiring the people who couldn't find a better leader.

2. investor confidence: in 2026, transparency is the new due diligence. a founder with a voice is a founder who can’t hide behind a spreadsheet.

3. the halo effect: when the leader is seen as a thought leader, the entire company's valuation goes up. you aren't just a vendor; you’re an authority.

in a world where ai execution is infinite, your personal voice is the only un-copyable asset you have left.

this month was tough. 

we spend our twenties and thirties romanticizing the hustle.
we sacrifice our physical baseline to scale our empires. we brag about surviving on 4 hours of sleep. 

it hit me hard when my mother was admitted last month for her surgeries. sitting outside that ward, your title is completely useless. numbers means nothing. your network can't save you. you are just a helpless kid, entirely at the mercy of biology and the doctors in the room.

it forced me to look at 4 undeniable laws of adulthood that nobody teaches you: 

1. a family crisis is the ultimate business stress test.
if you disappearing into a hospital for 7 days causes your company’s revenue to tank or your team to panic, you own a fragile, high-stress job. 
true operational leverage is building a team and a system that protects your cash flow while you are busy protecting your family.

2. biology keeps a perfect ledger.
health is not a "side project" you get to when your company scales. if your body fails, your business goes to zero. being fit isn't a vanity metric; it is the foundation of your leverage. you cannot protect your family or lead a team if you are physically falling apart.

3. money is a shield. money cannot reverse time or bribe disease. but it buys speed. it buys the top specialist, the private room, and the ultimate freedom to look at a doctor and say, "do whatever it takes," without ever hesitating to check a bank balance.

4. the illusion of infinite time. a hospital visit forces you to calculate the actual math. you don't have "years" left with your parents; you have a specific number of healthy weekends. you have to audit your calendar accordingly.
build the business. make the money.
but stop trading your health and your family to get there.

this month made me stronger & clearer.

about what & who matters.
about what real leverage is.
about what i’m actually building for.

what your LinkedIn profile says about you V/S what people actually read

in last 7 years, I've reviewed thousnds of LinkedIn profiles — students, professionals, founders, CEOs.

and almost every single one makes the same mistakes, here’s the mismatch:

1/ headline:
you wrote → title, credentials, achievements

they read → “is this person relevant to me?"
most headlines fail that test in 3 words.

2/ about section:
you wrote → your journey, passion, mission, story 

they read → the first 2 lines and quickly skim through, then they're gone.

3/ experience:
you wrote → every role, every title, every win since your first internship

they read → your last 2 positions and the names they recognise

4/ featured section:
you wrote → your best work, your proudest moments

they read → your first 3 featured posts, just that. 

5/ recommendations:
you wrote → carefully curated proof from people who love your work

they read → the first (top) one. skimmed in 4 seconds.

this applies whether you're:
→ a student trying to land your first opportunity
→ a professional looking to get headhunted
→ a founder trying to close your next big client

people are not reading your profile.
they are making a decision about you.
In 11 seconds.

“Is this person exactly what I'm looking for?"

99%  profiles answer that question with vague descriptions instead of clarity.

so here's what I want you to do right now:

> open your About section right now.
> read your first line.
> if it starts with "I am" or "I have" or "I am passionate about", rewrite it:

make it about the PROBLEM you solve.
make it about the PERSON reading it.
make it so clear that they feel seen in the first 5 words.

it’s a conversation that starts before you say a word.

The internet will flood your feed with flowers and quotes today. If I could sit every woman down for 10 minutes, this is what I'd say: 

1. work on your body like your life depends on it.
because it does.
stat strong. nfor the gram. not for anyone else.
because; 
a healthy body keeps you out of hospital beds.
the confidence that comes from a strong body —
walks into rooms differently, negotiates differently, leads differently.
I've never met a sharp, powerful woman who treated her health as optional.
not one.

2. become financially independent.
not "somewhat."
not "working on it."
fully.
the day you stop needing to ask —
your father, your husband, anyone —
for money, for permission, for a yes —
you become someone different.
you make decisions differently.
you leave things differently.
that shift is freedom.
and every woman deserves to feel it.

3. learn to do things yourself.
the things you've been outsourcing out of habit.
the things you've been waiting on someone else to handle.
the things you've quietly told yourself you can't do.
you can.
there is a specific kind of power that comes from not needing to be rescued.
dependence feels comfortable until it becomes a cage.
and by the time it does — leaving is expensive.

4. stop bringing emotions to work. start bringing emotional intelligence.
this one's the hardest. I know because I've failed it too.
when a sharp comment derails a whole week.
when a difficult client becomes a personal crisis.
when we make permanent decisions from temporary feelings.
master this and everything changes.
how people receive you. how rooms respond to you. how far you go.

let's do the math on this. 

40 minutes sitting in traffic.
60 minutes of listening to a stranger trauma-dump their broken business model while secretly hoping you'll give them free consulting.
40 minutes driving back.

you just burned 2.5 hours of your life, and zero dollars in revenue were generated.

your time is your only un-copyable asset. letting someone steal it for the price of a starbucks is a massive strategic failure.
we live in the leverage era.

you don't need to shake 100 hands to build a network.
when you build a digital footprint, you are having 100,000 coffee chats simultaneously while you sleep.

i work entirely remotely.
i don't go to local business mixers.
i don't hand out paper business cards.
i just write down and hit publish on LinkedIn.

the market reads it, qualifies itself, and the people who actually value my time pay the invoice before we ever get on a zoom call.

stop letting strangers pick your brain for free.

relationships matter but modern relationships start with signal, not small talk.

Someone once told me that the easiest way to understand people is to watch how they order food, and as an entrepreneur who thrives on attention to detail, I absolutely agree.

I recently came across BSH Home Appliances India ’s Women’s Day campaign featuring Kunal Khemmu, which shows him trying to cook something exactly the way his wife likes it. And sitting right there in the kitchen is the Bosch Combi Steam Oven, quietly making that possible.

We see the oven shifting between steaming, baking and grilling, depending on what the dish needs, almost like a silent partner in the kitchen while he focuses on getting the meal right.

Which means the cooking doesn’t turn into guesswork. It made me realise how often people underestimate the 
beauty of doing something ‘Just How She Likes It'. 

Because often the difference between “good enough” and “done right” is attention to detail.

In work and in life, symbols fade quickly, but standards last.
And the right tools make it easier to meet them consistently.

At some point in your data career, you realize something uncomfortable:

These tools transform raw data into interactive dashboards and business insights.

What’s fascinating is that while each cloud has different tools, the underlying data engineering patterns remain the same.

Storage → Processing → Analytics → Visualization.

The platform changes.
The engineering thinking stays consistent.

And that’s the real skill data engineers build.

What a night at the 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 & 𝐀𝐈 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭. 

The room was full, the conversations were thoughtful, and the energy from the community was amazing to see. 

A huge shoutout to the 128 people who attended and made the discussion so engaging.

One theme came up again and again during the panel:
↳ 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚.
↳ Every speaker had a different journey.
↳ Some started technical.
↳ Others came from completely different fields.
↳ Yet they all built impactful careers in data.

A few journeys that really stayed with me:
• 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐬 shared a more linear path - starting as a DBA, moving into consulting, then BI, and eventually leading teams.
• 𝐇𝐚𝐳𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐮𝐡𝐭𝐚𝐫 began with no coding background, gradually moved into technical roles, and now works as Senior Director of Product Analytics at Wise.
• 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐚 𝐋𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐬 took a very unconventional route - marketing → archaeology → treasury → startups → bootcamp → Amazon (Alexa) → consulting → Monzo — always driven by a desire to create impact.
• 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐌𝐢𝐤𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐣𝐜𝐳𝐲𝐤 initially pursued medicine, but during a gap year discovered a love for numbers while working in operations at an insurance company. That curiosity eventually led her into data roles and leadership after reaching out to alumni for opportunities.

 Different backgrounds.
 Different starting points.
 But one common lesson.

𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦.
The worst possible answer is 𝐧𝐨.

But sometimes asking leads to a conversation, a connection, or an opportunity you didn’t expect.

Another powerful takeaway:
𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬.
Careers rarely grow in isolation.
They grow through people who support you, advocate for you, and open doors you didn’t know existed.

A few insights from the discussion that really stuck with me:
▫️ Don’t wait until you feel 100% ready. Growth often comes from stepping into opportunities before you feel fully confident.
▫️ Leadership isn’t about knowing everything. It’s about facilitating the conversation and helping teams navigate complexity.
▫️ Clear communication is essential. Being able to explain technical work in a way that business stakeholders understand is a powerful skill.
▫️ Self-doubt is common. Even experienced leaders experience it - the key is not letting it hold you back.
▫️ Relationships matter. Many opportunities come from connections and conversations, not just applications.

1 in 10 women worldwide live with endometriosis.
That’s around 190 million women.

Many of them are sitting in meetings right now.
Joining stand-ups.
Leading teams.
Writing code.
Presenting to clients.

And most people around them have no idea what they’re going through.

Endometriosis is not “just bad cramps.”

It can mean:
* Chronic pelvic pain
* Debilitating fatigue
* Brain fog
* Hormonal struggles
* Fertility challenges
* Years of delayed diagnosis

For many women, the pain can be so severe it feels impossible to stand — yet they still show up to work.

They smile through meetings.
Deliver deadlines.
Lead projects.

All while their body is fighting a battle that remains largely invisible.

And often, when they do speak up, they hear things like:
“Maybe it’s just stress.”
“It’s normal period pain.”
“Take a painkiller.”

But the truth is - it’s not normal.

It’s a serious condition that affects not just health, but careers, confidence, and everyday life.

So today, I want to give a shoutout to every woman living and working with endometriosis.

To the women pushing through the pain.
To the women advocating for their health.
To the women who refuse to let this condition define their potential.

Your resilience is extraordinary.

And to workplaces and leaders everywhere:

Let’s build cultures where women feel safe talking about health challenges.

Where empathy is not seen as weakness.

And where invisible illnesses are acknowledged, not dismissed.
Because strength isn’t just showing up when everything is easy.
Sometimes strength is simply showing up despite the pain.

I once organised a meeting.
Set the agenda.
Prepared every talking point.
Sent the invite with clarity and intent.
And then, while sitting in that room, I felt it slip away.
Not abruptly. Not aggressively.
But quietly. Smoothly. Almost invisibly.
A small interruption here.
A subtle reframe there.
Until, before I even realised it, my ideas were moving around the room… just not in my voice anymore.
By the end, the conversation had shifted.
The ownership had shifted. And somehow, the meeting no longer felt like mine.
I was still there. Just no longer part of it.

That experience stayed with me. Not as bitterness, but as a question:

What would it have taken for that room to work differently?

I think it comes down to four small habits that cost nothing but intention:

1. Name the idea AND the person, out loud
When a leader summarises a discussion, they should say: "Priya raised this" or "that came from Disha." Not in the notes later. In the room, in the moment. Attribution spoken aloud is attribution that sticks.

2. Protect the unfinished thought
Create one space in every meeting where no one interrupts. Not to correct, not to build on, not to redirect. Just to let the thought land as it was meant to. Many of us never get that.

3. Write it down as it happens
A live shared doc with ideas and names beside them. It is surprisingly hard to take credit for something already in writing, next to someone else's name, in a document twelve people can see.

4. Assign someone to look back
One person per meeting whose job is simply to notice: "Did anything get lost?" And to bring it back. "I want to return to what she said earlier, because I don't think we finished with it."

None of these is radical.

They don't require a policy change or a training budget. They require a leader who is paying attention to more than just the loudest voices in the room.

The best leaders don't just open doors.

They notice who walked through, what they said, and make sure the room heard it too.

Early in her career, Emma Chalwin, the chief marketing officer of Workday, shared an idea in a room full of male executives.

After the meeting, the feedback she received was not about the substance of her idea, but about her tone. She was told she was "too emotional". 

The next day, a male colleague repeated her idea – and was praised for it. 

That experience quieted her voice. She spoke less, until a new manager changed the dynamic. In a meeting months later, when Emma hesitated, that manager pushed the floor back to her: "Emma has a really excellent point of view," she said. "She's a subject matter expert in this area and I'd love for her to share her perspective."

Sometimes leadership is simply making sure the right voice is heard.
