I grew up in a developing country with a single mother. 

She taught me: “You’re no less than a man”. 

This was in a place where: 

- Girls often got married off in their teens. 
- Women had to dress, think, act conservatively. 
- To be “respected” you had to be a wife or a mother. 

But my mom made it “safe” and normal for me to: 

- Get a job instead of getting married. 
- Have strong opinions and talk publicly about them. 
- Never apologize for who I was or who I wanted to be. 

Raising me against the “norms”, mom faced criticism.

But as a result, I: 

- Explored the world and traveled to 20+ countries. 
- Bootstrapped a startup to $1M in revenue. 
- Spoke on global stages like TEDx. 

Now I coach CEOs with 10x more privilege than me.

3. Use your talk as your calling card when networking: 
→ Ask new people you meet to come see you speak. 

4. Express genuine interest, show real enthusiasm: 
→ If you “fake” interest in someone, they will know it. 

5. Have a networking strategy before you attend: 
→ Then invest time in having real conversations. 

Every single event is an opportunity: 
New collaborators, potential clients and connectors. 

Start speaking on stages to be visible. 
Start networking to be remembered.

How to Look Like an Expert

I’ve coached 500+ CEOs to speak confidently. 

This is the #1 mistake I see them make: 

They get “confidence” wrong. 

Most people think confidence is “acting” a certain way. 

But to have unshakeable confidence, you have to dive deeper. 

Here are 3 layers of confidence to master: 

1. How to look confident: 

→ Get rid of the poker face - use expressions. 
→ Use open gestures and maintain great posture. 
→ Take up space physically and in the camera frame. 

2. How to sound confident: 

→ Enunciate clearly and emphasize keywords.

→ Warm up beforehand to get “in the zone”. 
→ Practice and create a positive feedback loop.
