I used to turn down opportunities because I didn't think I was good enough.

Now, I say yes before I feel ready and figure it out along the way.

To my 10-year-old self:
'Harrison Pereira', that's what you were called when you were bad.

You're about to head into 'big school' in Winchester. 
It's pretty fun there but you'll find it extremely hard.
The days will feel like weeks, weeks like months & months like years. 
You'll get bullied a bit, you'll fail a lot but you'll make lifelong friends. 
You'll scrape your GCSE's [because you're a 'bare minimum' kid still]
But you started hitting the gym at 14 so that's cool.
You'll get top marks in BTEC Sport in College & be accepted to Uni for Sports Coaching.

Your Mum will be diagnosed with cancer - this will hit you like nothing before.
Your College lecturer will tell you you're not intelligent enough to do Biomedical Science, so you choose it anyway. I'm f*cking proud of you for this.

You finish Uni with a 2:1 in Biomed & 1st in your Diss after having to retake almost every exam in year 1 & 2 [f you to my old college lecturer].
Graduation will be the most proud moment of your life so far.

Your Mum will get cancer twice more. She's a warrior.
Your Dad & Brother will be caring for her a lot while you achieve your dreams.
This will leave you with guilt that you'll later have to work through.

You'll live in Dubai then London then back to Dubai.
You'll face rejection in business, grieve family members & struggle financially.

But you'll develop an insanely resilient mentality, become the most resourceful people I know & you'll never give up on your dreams.

I don't know how, but you chose the path of turning your pain into power by starting your business from nothing, helping others understand who they really were, breaking their own mental limitations & becoming the best version of themselves in business & life.

I've just renewed my business again; 3 years in Dubai [+ 3 years in London].
It's pretty incredible when you reflect... 
It'll give you motivation, focus & clarity. 

Look back at what you had to go through to get to where you are; 
it'll bring a little tear to your eye and some fire in your belly.

People overcomplicate self-development. 
This is what I'd do if I was starting out:

1/ Set very big [meaningful] goals
2/ Create very simple systems to achieve them
3/ Learn to detach from outcomes [put faith in the process].
4/ Do things that scare me 1x p/w
5/ Practice presence & mindfulness daily

The problem is, self-development isn't sexy.
It's a long game that most aren't willing to play.

But the results on quality of life, are phenomenal. 

What they also don't notice is that results subtly come without realising it; 

- You'll face a situation with grace that you once got overwhelmed by.
- You'll ask "Why am I not anxious?" when making a scary decision. 
- You'll surprise yourself when you stay calm during confrontation.

Every time you wake up with intention to grow, you raise your level of awareness and therefore your baseline.

Overtime, that baseline looks very different to when you started,
but day to day, you don't really notice it. 

Real mastery isn’t about doing more random stuff; reading & meditating.
It’s about the daily pursuit of becoming more present, intentional & aligned.

Think of the monks in red robes on mountaintops.
They have very little, do very little… yet they’ve mastered something we haven’t: inner control.

When you learn to lead your mind, emotions & energy, the rest follows.
and yes - you can have the monk-like calm & the ambition of an entrepreneur.

→ Build systems that align with your values, not your ego
→ Practice non-attachment while pursuing excellence
→ Focus on the process, not the pressure of the outcome

That’s the essence of the work we do inside my coaching experience — integrating mindset, systems, and energy into one seamless flow.

Mastering yourself isn’t complicated.
It’s a decision — one you simply need to re-live daily.

A dead German philosopher understands AI better than most tech CEOs.

Friedrich Nietzsche died in 1900.
He never saw a computer.

But he understood something about technological disruption that most Silicon Valley leaders completely miss.

Nietzsche lived through the industrial revolution.

He watched machines transform work.
He saw traditional values collapse.
He witnessed entire communities lose their sense of purpose.

And he diagnosed the real problem:

It wasn't the technology itself.
It was the meaning crisis that followed.

When factories replaced craftsmen, people didn't just lose their jobs.

They lost their identity.
Their purpose.
Their understanding of what made life valuable.

Sound familiar?

Here's what's happening right now with AI:

Tech CEOs are obsessed with productivity and efficiency.

They talk about:
• 10x output
• Automated workflows
• Streamlined processes
• Cost reduction

But they're completely missing the existential dimension.

AI isn't just changing how we work.

It's forcing us to ask: What's the point of work at all?

If machines can think, write, create, and analyse better than we can, what makes us valuable?

That's not a productivity question.

It's a 'meaning' question.

And that's exactly what Nietzsche spent his life exploring.

He called it the "crisis of nihilism."

When old values collapse, people don't automatically find new ones.

They fall into despair.
They cling to outdated beliefs.
They resist change because they don't know who they'll be on the other side.

But here's where Nietzsche gets interesting:

He didn't just diagnose the problem.

He offered a solution.

He called it "self-overcoming."

The idea is simple but radical:

You can't wait for society to give you meaning.
You can't rely on your job title to define your worth.
You can't hold onto old identities when the world has moved on.

You have to actively create your own values.
You have to destroy your old self and build a new one.
You have to embrace the discomfort of transformation.

This is the psychological work that nobody talks about with AI.

Everyone's focused on learning new tools and skills.

But the real challenge is deeper:

Can you let go of who you were?
Can you rebuild your sense of purpose?
Can you find meaning in a world where your old contributions are obsolete?

Most people can't.

They resist.
They deny.
They wait for things to go back to normal.

But the people who will thrive in the AI era understand what Nietzsche understood:

There is no going back to normal.

The only way forward is through active self-creation.

Not adaptation.
Not acceptance.
But radical reinvention of what makes your work meaningful.

Tech CEOs will keep talking about efficiency gains.

But the real revolution is happening inside people who are brave enough to ask:

Who do I become when machines can do what I used to do?

That's the question Nietzsche would ask.

This post could have been a book...

And suddenly, you're taking your kids to look at Universities...

Walking through campuses, watching them imagine their future, and it hits you like a wave.

Wasn't it just yesterday you were dropping them off at kindergarten?

You remember holding their tiny hand on the first day of school. The oversized backpack. The nervous smile.

Now they're taller than you, stronger than you...

And you're standing there trying to hold it together.

Partly because you're proud, but also because you wish you had been more present.

Because somewhere between bedtime stories and Uni tours, two decades disappeared.

Here's what happens when you live mentally absent:

You're at the dinner table, but your mind is on work emails.

You're at the park, but you're scrolling through your phone.

You're reading bedtime stories, but you're thinking about tomorrow's meeting.

You go through the motions. Show up physically. Check the boxes.

But you're not really there.

And life? It passes by anyway.

The moments don't wait for you to pay attention.

Your kid learns to ride a bike.
Loses their first tooth.
Makes the school team.

And even if you were there for all of it.

You were mentally elsewhere.

Because being present and being there are two completely different things.

Life moves fast.
But it's never too late to slow down & be present.

If you're reactive, meditate.
If you're overwhelmed, journal.
If you're anxious, move your body.
If you're distracted, change your environment.

Most people catastrophise.

They wake up in a bad mood, get snappy with their partner, and can't focus.
And suddenly they're rethinking their entire life.

They get one piece of bad news and question if they're on the wrong path.

Their workload spikes & they're figuring out "how to escape the matrix."

They feel distracted and think "Maybe I'm not cut out for this."

This is what's actually happening:

Your brain is designed to find patterns and predict threats.
One bad moment triggers your pattern-matching system.
It searches for similar past experiences.

Then it projects that pattern into your future.

The fix isn't hidden in big, drastic diagnoses or changes right now...

It's recognising the spiral before it takes over and implementing daily actions.

When you catch yourself catastrophising, ask:
"Is this a real problem or am I pattern-matching?"

Most of the time, it's just a rough Tuesday morning.

Not a life crisis.
Not a sign you're failing.
Just a moment that needs a simple fix.

You can't think your way into clarity.

The more you try, the more stuck you become.

Here's what actually happens when you overthink:

• Your brain creates problems that don't exist
• Simple decisions become impossible
• You confuse motion with progress

It's like standing at a swimming pool, analyzing the water temperature, calculating the perfect dive angle, and studying swimming techniques.

Meanwhile, everyone else is already in the pool learning by doing.

The trap most people fall into:

They believe more analysis = better decisions.

But overthinking isn't problem-solving.

It's avoidance dressed up as productivity.

Real clarity comes from:
• Taking small actions
• Testing assumptions in reality
• Moving before you feel ready

Your brain will never give you permission to act.

It's designed to protect you, not propel you forward.

Stop waiting for the perfect answer.

Start moving toward any answer.

Clarity follows action.
Not the other way around.

Install these 7 mental habits.
Watch your performance transform.

I spent my first 3 years in business chasing productivity hacks.

None of the hacks worked until I killed that narrative and learnt to let go.

Below is what I realised actually moved the needle:

1. Default to action over analysis
2. Set constraints before you start
3. Separate thinking time from doing time
4. Kill projects that aren't working
5. Review your decisions weekly
6. Shorten your timelines to force action
7. Build systems when you're motivated

Let me break these down:

→ Default to action over analysis
Most decisions are reversible. Make the call quickly and adjust based on what happens [break out of the 'what if' mentality].

→ Set constraints before you start
Give yourself boundaries: time, budget, scope. Constraints force clarity and kill overthinking.

→ Separate thinking time from doing time
Plan in one session. Execute in another. Mixing them kills momentum and creates decision fatigue.

→ Kill projects that aren't working
Sunk cost will drain you. If something isn't moving forward after honest effort, cut it and move on.

→ Review your decisions weekly
Look at what worked and what didn't. Pattern recognition beats gut feeling every time.

→ Shorten your timelines to force action
Take whatever timeline you set and cut it in half. Tight deadlines force you to move fast and kill overthinking before it starts.

→ Build systems when you're motivated
Capture your process while you have energy. Future you will thank the present you when motivation drops.

Do less of what sounds impressive.
Do more of what actually works.

"I only follow people i can learn from"
What I learnt from 1.5 hours of doom scrolling last night:





....

[Sure, some things were useful, but nothing stuck & 0 action was taken]

How I felt when doom scrolling:

[unsure because 100% of attention was in someone else's world]

How I felt after doom scrolling:

- Tired
- Unfocused
- Low energy

[dopamine has crashed, felt unproductive, wasted time]

^ What a new client said to me last week about his evenings spent scrolling.

"I only follow people who provide value," he said.

Then he admitted he couldn't recall anything from his nightly scroll sessions. No insights. No takeaways. Just exhaustion and terrible sleep from the blue light and dopamine crash.

So why do we do it?

We're avoiding something:
• Work we don't want to do
• Feelings we don't want to face
• Conversations we're putting off

We lack structure:
• No clear goals
• No systems
• No plan for our time

We've built the habit:
• Reach for the phone during any silence
• Default to distraction
• Can't sit with our own thoughts

We're stressed:
• High-pressure days lead to escapism
• Scrolling feels like relief
• It's actually making things worse

I'm not perfect at most things.

But this? I don't doom scroll anymore. Haven't in years.

It's not about 'always being productive', I'm opposed to this idea in fact.

It's about serving yourself.

You're polluting your mind and training it to be distracted.

I built a system that removes it completely. Cold turkey. Gone.

It works for my clients. It'll work for you.
