I disappeared from social media for two weeks.

Where did I go?
 
Back home.

To the small town near Jawai in Rajasthan, the place I grew up.
This time, it was for a wedding.

A friend I’d studied with my entire school life was getting married.
I don’t even remember when we first met, maybe Class 1, maybe earlier.
We just… always knew each other.

When I reached, it wasn’t just a wedding.
It was like life had pressed pause and rewind at the same time.


And of course, those evenings after tuition,
when we’d grab snacks and cold drinks from the same stall,
three of us squeezed onto one bike, roaming aimlessly through the streets,
laughing about things that made no sense, but made life feel full.

Now, one of us lives in the US.
Another’s in Mexico.
One’s in Bangalore.
And one’s in Pune.

But somehow, when we meet, it still feels like nothing has changed.
It’s a simple town.

But it grounds me in ways the city never can.
No validation. No noise. Just roots.
Every year, I make this trip.

And every time, it gives me something new,
a reminder of where I came from,
a sense of peace I can’t buy, and the warmth of being known not for what I’ve achieved, but for who I’ve always been.

It’s nostalgic, yes. But also strangely energising.
It recharges me in a way that nothing else does.

By the time I return, I’m full of memories, of meaning, of quiet strength.

Here's what nobody told me:

Year 1: Exciting chaos

Everything is new

Comfort is overrated.

Personal brands in 2026 aren't about how many people follow you.

Nobody cares anymore. 

The whole follower count thing is dead.

What matters is if the right 100 people know who you are. 

The ones who can actually do something for your business.

I see it with every client. 

The guy with 50k followers gets nothing. Other with 3k followers but all the right people watching? He's closing deals left and right.

2026 is going to separate people who are just making content from people who are actually building something. 

Your personal brand either opens doors or it's just you talking to yourself.

Audience behavior is shifting hard.

People don't want to be educated anymore. 

They're drowning in information.

What they want is someone to make sense of it all.

To have a strong opinion about what matters and what doesn't.

Future is going to reward curation over creation. 

The founders who can say "ignore all this noise, here's what actually matters" are going to win.

Stop trying to teach. 

Start having a point of view.

Nobody's paying attention anymore.

Everyone's skimming. 
Half reading while they're doing five other things.

So if your first sentence doesn't make someone actually stop, you're done. 

They're gone.

Not some clever hook. 
Not a question. 

Just something that makes them go wait, what?

Most people will fail at this. 
They'll keep writing the same boring intros. 

"Here's 5 things" or "Let me tell you about" or whatever.

And nobody will read it.

The bar is going up. Way up. Most people won't clear it.
