In 2018, work wasn't working for me, so I broke it and methodically designed a new life with intention.
I used my job as an investor in my future. I figured out my advantages and then built a side business that I took to full time corporate exit, then scaled to over $1m in revenue.

I built an entire process to help me figure out my re-invented career and now I use that to help other corporate pros smartly build futures that are Self-Directed, intentional and successful - that is my purpose.

Each purchase made via the GoodShop mall results in a donation to the user's designated charity or school.

Prior to becoming a career coach, I worked for nearly a decade in sales in the ad-tech industry.

I climbed the corporate ladder from Coordinator, to Account Manager, to Account Director, to Business Development Manager to owning my own business and every role I landed I did so never applying for a job online. My journey taught me invaluable negotiation tactics, which led to boosting my salary by over 437%. My years in sales and numerous nailing interviews taught me how to pitch and present myself confidently both in person and through my resume.

I know that coaching other 20s & 30s somethings is what I’m most inspired by. I love helping others find "their thing" and find excitement in their daily lives through leveraging their strengths and areas of engagement.

Before you accept that job offer, take a breath.

I know the relief that comes with finally hearing “we’d like to make you an offer.” Especially if your job search has been draining or you’ve dealt with rejections. It’s tempting to say yes on the spot.

But not every offer is a good one. Some roles look great on paper but drain you from the inside once you’re there. Others come with toxic leadership, unclear expectations, or pay that doesn’t match the scope of work.

The truth is, the wrong offer can set you back further than waiting a little longer for the right one.

So before you accept, pause and evaluate. Does this role align with your goals? Does it respect your boundaries, your growth, and your value? If not, it’s okay to walk away. That’s not being difficult. That’s being intentional.

A job offer should feel like an opportunity, not an escape route. Choose accordingly.

It was so hard for me to accept that I needed to leave my career path.

Because my job was so good on paper, I spent almost a decade trying to “make it work.”

That meant making small pivots here and there, new company, slightly different job title, different industry...

But still…I would feel intense dread every Monday morning.

💔I lacked confidence because I felt out of place

💔I felt anxious all of the time because I felt so stuck

💔And, I felt so selfish for even feeling that way and that made me feel even more miserable

Until…I accepted and stopped resisting the truth: this just wasn’t the career path for me.

Somewhere along the way, we started confusing stress with success.

We tell ourselves that being exhausted means we’re ambitious. That constant pressure is just part of “earning it.” That if we’re not stretched thin, we’re not doing enough.

Your job is not your identity. Your worth doesn’t live in your inbox or your performance review.

You can care deeply about your work and still protect your peace. You can be driven without being drained. And you can grow your career without letting it consume every part of you.

It’s not a badge of honor to be burned out. It’s a sign that something needs to shift.

This weekend, give yourself permission to separate who you are from what you do. You might find that clarity creates more space for success than stress ever did.

Some days it feels like you’re pushing a boulder uphill.

You’re trying to hype yourself up, trying to force excitement, trying to pretend your job still fits when deep down you know it doesn’t. And that exhaustion hits different in your late twenties and thirties because you’re smart enough to see the gap between where you are and where you know you should be.

You believe you’re meant for work that actually lights you up. Work that engages you. Work that builds toward real growth, not just another year of “getting through it.”

But you have no idea what that job is. No idea where to start. And honestly, admitting that out loud can feel embarrassing. So you justify, you rationalize, you settle, because the alternative feels like a pipe dream.

This feeling is extremely common, but most people ignore it until they burn out or check out. You do not need to wait for a breaking point to make a change.

What you’re feeling is valid. And it’s also a sign.

The 5 habits that helped me pause and rebuild a career I loved and was proud of ⬇️⬇️

1. I got hyper clear on why I felt so disconnected and unhappy. Not surface level “I don’t like my company” stuff, I went deep. What specifically about the work drained me? Why did I choose this role in the first place? Was it the actual work, the culture, or the fact that I optimized for a title that looked good but felt like crap? You can’t fix what you don’t have awareness around. This type of self-auditing became a habit I consistently came back to.

2. I scrapped my entire definition of career success. Turned out it wasn’t even mine, it was some old school version of what my parents wanted, what looked impressive to friends, and what I thought I was “supposed” to want. I rebuilt it from scratch based on what actually mattered to me. Then the habit became about making decisions and taking action in line with my updated version. 

3. I leaned into “fake it until you make it” harder than I’m comfortable admitting. I had limited confidence but no roadmap for building it. So I acted like I had it, spoke up when my voice shook, raised my hand for projects that scared me, did things FAR outside my comfort zone. My brain caught up eventually. Confidence came from doing the thing, not from feeling ready first.

4. I built real relationships, not a network. I stopped doing transactional coffee chats and started connecting with people doing work that actually interested me and getting super curious. Those relationships fully become my foundation for the larger career change I would eventually make.

5. I stopped trying to figure out the entire path before taking the first step. The pressure to “get it right” kept me stuck for years. So I asked: what’s one thing I can do right now? I did that. Then asked again. The clarity didn’t come from planning, it came from consistently taking small steps.

Your End of Year Review Is in a few weeks

There’s a moment in every job search or career pivot when you feel exposed. A little embarrassed. A little “who do I think I am?”.

Most people hit that feeling and pull back. They stay small. They stay silent. They wait for confidence to magically show up before they take the next step.

If you’re not willing to feel a little cringe, you’re not going to grow.

Embarrassment is an underused tool. It’s usually the sign you’re stretching, trying something new, or doing the thing you’ve avoided for years. The people who move fastest in their careers aren’t fearless. They just stop letting other people’s opinions be the barrier.

When you’re willing to feel uncomfortable on purpose, everything in your career opens up. New conversations. New opportunities. New confidence that comes from action.

So if you’re in a season of change, let it be messy. Let it be awkward. Let it be cringe. It’s still progress.
