Ever since I was a kid. Little did I know it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. 
So that’s when it all changed and my journey really began.

Hi, my name is Ely, and it all started in 2017..

I decided to leave a career of almost 10 years working for corporate.

I travelled all across the globe working for big time worldwide companies.

Perhaps you might know Jonhson & Johnson or MARS? 

Well, if you don’t know them, I’m 100% sure you consumed at least one of their products in your lifetime.

Either way, I was there as an IT Project Manager because I always loved tech.

But the problem was: I also loved entrepreneurship. And I’ve always had a natural talent for sales too - I loved selling stuff to my friends when I was a kid.

But my career in IT didn’t enable me to develop these skills much.

So that’s when I met Marketing. And it just clicked. So then, I planned to leave my job in 2017.

And that’s what I did. 

When I embarked this journey, I decided I wanted to combine two of my passions: marketing and tech, and it just made total sense.

Considering my background of 10+ years working with IT, I think it made me a good fit for that!

And so, I've been impacting consumers and companies worldwide ever since.

✅ MY EXPERTISE: From 2018 to 2021, I’ve helped several global B2B SaaS & startup leaders/founders to dramatically grow their revenue & MRR. After that, I've decided to focus heavily on web3, and enable companies to make the best out of marketing by using web3 technology.

“Why have you gone into executive search?!” 

A question I’ve been asked multiple times over the past few months.  My why? Impact. 

The biggest impact on the trajectory of a business is hiring great people.  

The right person in right role at right time can x10 performance.  

When I had breakfast with Mike Drew in July 2025, I didn't expect to be working with him (again!) at Odgers. 

I’m actually returning to search after 20+ years as a commercial operator in start-ups, corporates and consultancies including Deliveroo, Sky, Accenture and a Series A health-tech start-up.  Some context:

→ 🧠 My Experience & Perspective 
I’ve accumulated 20+ years of experience across a range of sectors and companies.  A key part of my roles has been hiring (and firing), designing operating models and org structures. This gives me a unique perspective on talent and teams. 

→ 🤖 The impact of AI
This was obviously going to make an appearance! AI is reshaping every aspect of our lives. Companies that win won’t just be the ones with the most £. Talent will be the biggest determent of who survives or thrives. 

→ 🧑🏻‍🏫 Always be Learning 
Throughout my career I’ve made pivots. Each time I’ve learnt new stuff and emerged better. I’m confident this move will do the same.

I’ll be working with Mike and the global team to support high growth, PE / VC backed and founder-led businesses. I’ll have a particular focus on ‘consumer tech & platforms’.

What do rosé riders, Macron’s aviators and Japanese loos have in common?

All topics that came up at the ‘Year Ahead’ post-Davos event by World Media Group last night.

This was my 4th event of the week.  I’m loving immersing myself in the tech / media ecosystem.

Chatham house rules, but a few things stuck with me:

1️⃣ 🤖 AI will continue to evolve . . . but quantum is the next incoming 🌊

→ Vertical AI (functional focus e.g in supply chain or finance function) vs. horizontal AI (cross-company, all business areas) are the two approaches for how most corporates are looking at AI today.
→ Voice is going to disrupt everything - not sure when we will see the end of keyboards, but its getting closer
→ Watch out for the social backlash to AI.  Not just the ‘slop’, but potential impact on elections, energy prices and employment. The hype may start to sour more quickly than we expect if real benefits aren’t seen for all.
→ Quantum is going to disrupt all things AI. Expect to hear more about qubits, entanglement and cryogenic cooling in 2026 (Mike Drew as you've been saying!)

2️⃣ 🙌🏻 UK AI has the ability to be world-class in some areas

→ Ignore the doom.  The UK has some tangible advantages in ‘proper’ applications of AI. Healthcare, education, financial services, defence, legal etc. 
→ We have experienced talent, the right regulations and investors who want to back founders.  It’s go time.

3️⃣ 🗞️ The need for high quality journalism has never been greater 

→ In a world of AI ‘slop’ and relentless algorithmic synthetic content there is an increasing consumer desire for reliable, credible sources of information.  This includes print, broadcast and social (from real people!)
→“More signal. Less noise” is the mantra to get behind.
