Ever since I was a kid. Little did I know it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. 
So that’s when it all changed and my journey really began.

Hi, my name is Ely, and it all started in 2017..

I decided to leave a career of almost 10 years working for corporate.

I travelled all across the globe working for big time worldwide companies.

Perhaps you might know Jonhson & Johnson or MARS? 

Well, if you don’t know them, I’m 100% sure you consumed at least one of their products in your lifetime.

Either way, I was there as an IT Project Manager because I always loved tech.

But the problem was: I also loved entrepreneurship. And I’ve always had a natural talent for sales too - I loved selling stuff to my friends when I was a kid.

But my career in IT didn’t enable me to develop these skills much.

So that’s when I met Marketing. And it just clicked. So then, I planned to leave my job in 2017.

And that’s what I did. 

When I embarked this journey, I decided I wanted to combine two of my passions: marketing and tech, and it just made total sense.

Considering my background of 10+ years working with IT, I think it made me a good fit for that!

And so, I've been impacting consumers and companies worldwide ever since.

After a successful career in Austria, firstly working in finance and later assisting my family business become one of the leading IT consultants and Hewlett Packard distributers in Vienna, I returned to the United States in 1997 and founded PCtronics.

I surrounded myself with a small, but highly skilled team of engineers comprising MIT graduates and one of the very first engineers to obtain a formal Microsoft Certification, Manfred Schmutzer. Manfred, one of the founding members of PCtronics is now our C.T.O., providing technical oversight and leadership to all PCtronics technical systems and projects.

By partnering with a major accountancy software firm, the word quickly spread and I soon grew PCtronics into the IT consultant of choice for a diverse portfolio of companies from a broad cross section of different industries across Southern California.

In 2015, I recruited Nick Harney to head up PCtronics’ operations. Bringing 40 plus years experience serving primarily public sector clients, Nick focused initially on assisting PCtronics attain the necessary qualifications to serve the public sector and secured some major contracts with leading municipal entities. Through this period I also added highly experienced, ex. military Cyber Security experts to the team which proved to be a timely addition to proactively head off the steady increase in malware and ransomware attacks.

Also, around 2015 I established a Social Media and Marketing team which brought a useful dimension to the Company. Amongst this team are some truly imaginative website designers that in conjunction with effective marketing can make sure your company is not “the best kept secret” in its field.

Over the past two decades, I have enjoyed sustained growth and gained a valuable advantage over many of my competitors with the unique ability to transfer knowledge from one industry sector to another. Supporting clients through a major downturn in the economy in the late 2000’s, I learned to resolve many of my client’s IT issues without the need for major capital expenditure, applying unique, “out of the box” solutions to help my clients remain solvent during difficult times. This expertise will no doubt prove to be invaluable again over the next few years according to post pandemic economical predictions.

Over the past few years, I have been focused on evolving PCtronics beyond traditional managed support, transitioning from an MSP into an M.I.P. through automation and intelligence led systems designed to guide clients through what is coming next.

The gap is context, ownership, and decisions made fast, with confidence.

Everywhere I look right now people are dropping the phrase “agentic AI” like it is the new magic word.

Before it turns into more noise, it is worth getting clear on what it is and what it is not.

Most people met generative AI first.
ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot inside Microsoft apps, image tools like Midjourney or DALL E. You ask for something. It gives you an answer, a draft, a summary, an image or a video.
Then it waits for your next move.

Agentic AI is what happens when you stop treating the model like a clever typewriter and start treating it like a junior operator inside a workflow.

You give it a goal.
You connect it to tools and data.
You let it break work into steps, call those tools in sequence, check its own results, ask for clarification when it is unsure, and hand the right pieces back to a human at the right moments.

On #AWS that might look like Bedrock tied into Lambdas, Step Functions and your own data stores.

On #Microsoft it might be Azure OpenAI (Microsoft Foundry) working with Fabric or Synapse and Power Platform, behind a Copilot that can actually take actions in your business systems.

On #Google it might be Vertex AI with BigQuery and small services that read and write to the apps you already run.

Change the logo on the slide and the pattern stays the same.
You are not just asking a model to answer questions. You are asking a system to move work.

That is the real shift.

Generative AI changed how fast we can think on the page.
Agentic AI changes how fast work travels from idea to action to outcome.

The hard part is not picking a platform.

The hard part is deciding which workflows you are ready to trust with an agent watching the rails, where humans must stay in control, what evidence you need at every decision point, and who owns the outcome when the system acts on your behalf.

This is where INTENTIONAL INTELLIGENCE lives.

You are not just buying tools. You are designing how judgment, authority and automation fit together.

Thank you to the SuperOps team and for trusting me with this story and giving me a platform to talk about what is actually changing in our world, not the headlines, the real shift we are living through day to day.

I founded PCtronics Managed IT, Security and Automation and we have navigated every major technology cycle since the Windows 95 era. This one is different. Intelligence is becoming the baseline layer for how work gets done. That is why I keep pushing the evolution from MSPs managed service providers to MIPs managed intelligence providers. Managed services does not go away. It levels up. The next layer is helping clients design workflows, connect systems, govern automation, and prove outcomes.

GENERATIVE AI vs AGENTIC AI
If you say you “use AI” do you actually know which one you mean?

2026 is the year of agentic AI for SMBs!
If you run a business or an MSP it pays to know the difference 👀 

Most people who say they use AI are talking about "generative AI"
You open ChatGPT or Gemini or Claude or Claude Code.

You ask it to write an email, fix a spreadsheet, summarize a report, draft some code, help you do your work faster.
You drop into Midjourney or NanoBanana to get images maybe ElevenLabs for voice.

You ask.
It generates.
That is "generative AI"

Agentic AI is a different animal 🫎 

Instead of giving you a draft it moves through a workflow. It can read data from several systems decide what should happen next take actions and then confirm the result back to a human.

Think simple examples.

✔️ Customer onboarding
An agent can pull data from your CRM check documents in a shared drive open your PSA create tickets set permissions trigger a welcome sequence and notify the account owner without you clicking through five different tools.

✔️ Accounts receivable
 An agent can watch for overdue invoices follow your playbook for reminders check for promised payments and surface only the exceptions that need a human decision.

Same intelligence layer
Very different job

This is why I keep saying that for 2026 the real shift for our world is agentic AI not just generative AI.

If you are an MSP this matters even more.

Your clients already play with generative AI in random tools
That is shadow AI.
It is risky and it does nothing for their actual workflows.

Our job now is to lead them into safe agentic AI.
That means understanding their processes where decisions live how data is stored and what outcomes they want.
From there an MSP that evolves and can think like a Managed Intelligence Provider (MIP) will be able to design real workflows with agents on top
not just give them another chatbot.

Generative AI is the demo.
Agentic AI is the system.

MSPs that make this shift to an MIP mindset will protect their clients and stay relevant.

Those who stay stuck at “we use AI when what they mean is chatbots" will watch someone else redesign the workflows around them.
