Ever since I was a kid. Little did I know it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. 
So that’s when it all changed and my journey really began.

Hi, my name is Ely, and it all started in 2017..

I decided to leave a career of almost 10 years working for corporate.

I travelled all across the globe working for big time worldwide companies.

Perhaps you might know Jonhson & Johnson or MARS? 

Well, if you don’t know them, I’m 100% sure you consumed at least one of their products in your lifetime.

Either way, I was there as an IT Project Manager because I always loved tech.

But the problem was: I also loved entrepreneurship. And I’ve always had a natural talent for sales too - I loved selling stuff to my friends when I was a kid.

But my career in IT didn’t enable me to develop these skills much.

So that’s when I met Marketing. And it just clicked. So then, I planned to leave my job in 2017.

And that’s what I did. 

When I embarked this journey, I decided I wanted to combine two of my passions: marketing and tech, and it just made total sense.

Considering my background of 10+ years working with IT, I think it made me a good fit for that!

And so, I've been impacting consumers and companies worldwide ever since.

I used to laugh at the idea of joining a “social group.”

Two reasons - I already have friends I don’t see enough, and my job to make friends. At least that’s how I explained it to the kids when they were babies.

This month I joined the Jaycees and spent Sunday morning stringing lights in our town square.

The Jaycees are a local group with a national network. We meet up, then give back. Think Track Friday after Thanksgiving, Santa Deliveries, and a community Toy Drive.

Credit where it’s due - Stephanie’s new venture, The Parks Planners, nudged me out of my comfort zone. Follow her on IG and Facebook!

The best part is now when I walk through town with my kids, I can point to the tree I helped light. Big bragging rights at home!

Three weeks later is not follow up.

I didn’t meet this rep at NACS. I played their booth game.

Three weeks later, I got the most generic “thanks for stopping by” email. No name. No context. No reason to care.

Speed matters, but relevance wins. 

If you can’t segment scans by activation vs meeting, or attach a single note from the interaction, you’re not following up. You’re spamming.

Here's an easy fix: 
1. Map scanners to booth zones
2. Tag every scan with one of three tracks (buyers, browsers, prize hunters)
3. Send within 48 hours
4. Personalize the first sentence with a specific detail. 

If you can't do at least that, do not send it.

I walked into a dark forest at ACC.

Not a metaphor. A literal tunnel of “spooky” trees and flashlights at Lexicon’s booth.

The premise was simple. Shine a light on the first 30 days post-discharge for heart failure patients. The copy lived on the floor, the data revealed by flashlight, the pathway clear.

Crowds formed because there was a story to enter, not just a product to inspect. 

In a hall of white walls and legal blocks, this was super memorable.

My favorite detail: those trees were handmade from pool noodles.

I loved that they took their literal message about risk in the shadows, and designed an experience that literally revealed it.

They gave attendees a part in the story, rather than just a brochure.

Stop reacting at shows. Start with Think–Feel–Do and leave with next steps on the calendar.

A mentor drilled one idea into me: Think–Feel–Do. Not once, but at every stage.

I used to wonder how we’d know any of it without client input.

The reality is that it isn’t our job to know everything. It’s our job to lead you to the answers.

Map what you want attendees to think, feel, and do before, during, and after the event. For a 1–2 person team, this is essential.

Use this simple Think–Feel–Do map across three phases. Fill it once, reuse it every show, update as you learn.

Pre-event
• Think: What should prospects believe before they arrive? Example: “This booth solves my [X] problem.”
• Feel: What emotion primes them to engage? 
• Do: Register, book a meeting, reply to an email.
• Tools: Email sequence, one-page landing hub, calendar link in every asset, targeted LinkedIn posts. Get buy-in from sales and content.
• Metric: Meeting slots booked, reply rate, qualified RSVPs, Prebook Rate ≥ 50 percent.

At-event
• Think: “These people understand my world.”
• Feel: Seen and respected, not pitched at.
• Do (pre-scheduled): Scan in, have a focused conversation, prescribe a next step.
• Do (walk-ins): Ask 3 qualifying questions, scan in, route to the right person, prescribe a next step.
• Tools: 3 scripted questions, 1 demo path, a visual proof point, a fast qual card with a required checkbox “Booked a next step.”
• Metric: Conversations over 3 minutes (roughly), demos run, Next-Step Rate, scheduled next steps on calendar.

Post-event
• Think: “That was worth my time.”
• Feel: Confident taking a next step.
• Do: Book a debrief, start a trial, intro a stakeholder.
• Tools: 3-touch follow-up in 10 business days. Step 1 recap, Step 2 resource, Step 3 clear ask. Each touch includes a booking link.
• Metric: 24-hour Follow-Up, meetings held, opportunities created, pipeline value.

How to run this with two people
• Weekly 30-minute standup with the Think–Feel–Do board up.
• One master checklist per phase. If it isn’t on the checklist, it doesn’t get done.
• Prebuild templates: outreach emails, follow-up notes.
• Ownership: assign a name next to every KPI so nothing floats.
