Me: “Your 45 step process misses crawling the current website with different modes and saving the crawls somewhere safe.

Maybe do that first.”

It’s easy to root for people who don’t need it. 

They have already won, the evidence is there. 

What about the person just starting out?

They need us more than ever. 

And ironically, we don’t think to root for them. 

I choose to root for the people still finding their way. 

They need me more than the people who already won.

Prospect: “We need more leads.”

Me: “Before you get more leads from my work, I have a question.

How quickly do you currently respond to your leads and what percentage are you closing on average? How many leads are pending or dead in the pipeline and why?”

Prospect: “I don’t know.”

Me: “Let’s talk once you have those answers. You may not even need me once you have them.”

Prospect a week later: “We need to put some processes in place to make some internal work more efficient before we consider more leads.”

Me: “Fantastic!”

Anyone can win the content and authority game by actually doing some industry level research for their own products and services.

You can then share those snippets of information with your industry and customers.

The first part is doing actual studies and research. 

This part costs money and/or time.

Many fall foul of this by just starting to create content based on shallow work or comparison to what already exists. 

When you have your own opinions, they are more valuable and unique to you, your business and your customers.

This works for ANY business.

I use this time of year to reflect and review things and to plan for the year ahead.

It fills me with immense joy and gratitude to be able to announce this before the end of the year:

After months of planning, failure, holes and tears, I have managed to fit the toilet roll holder and towel rail in my downstairs toilet.

I have tested at least 7 different plasterboard fittings, all wobbled and didn’t fit.

Finally, the DuoTec anchors came in to the rescue. No wobbly fittings after a few months of use.

Final goal of the year completed.

For the first time in a long time, I may have a case where Disavowing something has had a postive effect after loads of low quality link spam. 

Will share in the new year.

Continuing on with goals:

I also had a “petty” goal for the first few years.

Each time I saw an old acquaintance, family member or friend and they asked me how my “little business/project” was going, I added another £10k to the yearly revenue target.

It’s become less and less with more success providing more “cheering”, but it was a great driver initially. 

Petty or “nitty gritty” goals as Jim Rohn calls them, can be great rocket fuel to keep you aligned or at times, give you extra fuel.

Just a thought.
