This hit me hard recently.

I looked up and realized—this season of my life, with all its mess and stretch—is something I used to dream about.

But when you’re driven, you rarely pause to feel it.

You’re chasing what’s next.

Because that’s how we’ve been conditioned to measure progress.

Here’s the truth:
-People who reflect on their progress weekly are 33% more likely to achieve their goals.
-And regular gratitude practices have been shown to reduce burnout by up to 60%.

But this isn’t about journaling for the sake of it.
 
It’s about not skipping over your life.

Here’s what I do now:
-Every month, I look back and write down 3 things I would’ve celebrated last year but overlooked this year.
-I share honest updates with people I trust—not just highlight reels.
-I build in “pause weeks” where I don’t plan the next thing. I just live in what I’ve already built.

Holiday decorations are up. 

And Christmas bells are already ringing.

Five days before Thanksgiving, here’s a gratitude check:

✅ Just put my daughter’s wedding invitations into official print mode! 
✅ Excited about a new work project that can make an impact.
✅ Just locked in another good podcast guest.
✅ Spent last night laughing with my husband on a much-needed date night.
✅ Heading to Maryland to be with my brother and family for Thanksgiving.
✅ And best of all today - I’ll be sipping my homemade latte, petting the cats, and watching my favorite holiday movies while I work today.

It’s easy to overlook moments like these. But today, I’m soaking it all in.

One thing hit especially hard this morning listening to a podcast while running:

Gary V said, “Stop caring what others think. Just go after your dreams.”

It’s the reminder I needed.

If you’ve been holding back—here’s what’s helping me:

1.	Celebrate the small wins (they’re usually the big ones in disguise).
2.	Pursue joy, not just productivity.

 🏌️‍♂️ Golf for my husband — his happy place (and mine when he’s out playing 😉).
 👯‍♀️ 50-year friendships — the kind you can’t replace.
 ✨ New friends — because connection keeps us growing.
 ☕ Starbuck's lattes with soy milk — because sometimes gratitude tastes like celebration.
 📺 True crime shows — a guilty pleasure that fuels my curiosity.
 💼 My job as CMO for X-Caliber— work that challenges and fulfills me.
 🎙️ The incredible guests I’ve interviewed this year — their stories have inspired me beyond measure.

👶 My ten godchildren — and the parents who allowed us to have such a special place in their lives.

Every one of these reminds me how full life really is — when we slow down enough to notice.

Here’s the mindset shift:

 Gratitude isn’t passive. It’s a practice. When you focus on what’s right, you naturally create more of it.
