Starting this summer, my wife and I are packing up and "auditioning" cities across the US for our next home — a 3-year adventure we're calling 'Are We There Yet?'.

But I’m not just passing through. I am bringing the AI LAB with me.

For every city we live in, I am dedicating my residency to equipping local business leaders, agencies, and creative teams with Human-First AI Strategies. My focus? Speeding up your production without sacrificing your taste, judgment, or brand voice.

I shared about my youngest son Wesley’s Senior year wrestling prowess - but left everyone hanging after he made it to State’s (taking FIRST in the NC East Regional State Wrestling Championship)…

But not too educational — because they're still quietly cashing checks from that Lynda.com acquisition and would love to sell your audience on their course first.

Videos are great. Until they're not. 
Carousels are king. Until they aren't. 

Portrait images fill the screen beautifully on mobile — a phone they've made nearly impossible to actually create or share content from. 

And LinkedIn Messaging on the app? 
We don't talk about LinkedIn Messaging on the phone app... or the desktop for that matter.

Be personal. Share opinions. 
Just don't have too many opinions...
... or the wrong ones
... or opinions on a Tuesday.

Want real engagement? Wonderful. 
They'll show your post to eleven people and call it an algorithm.
Pay a little (in their estimation) and they will make sure it hits twice that many of people already following you. They promise!

From static AI-images to a full car ad. Here's an AI video workflow:

Minivans aren't supposed to be cool. But this AI-powered OffLander is. 👇

My nephew Luke is building a lifted "OffLander" Toyota Sienna. It’s a work in progress, but I decided to use AI to see what the final vision could look like - and then I turned it into a full-scale commercial.

This project is a masterclass in "AI Directing." To get that polished, professional look, I stacked a series of powerful tools:

Visuals: 
• Used Leonardo.ai with Kling 3.0 for those smooth 360 orbits and Veo 3.1 for the cinematic mountain reveals.

Audio: 
• ElevenLabs provided the VO
 •Suno handled the "Toyota-vibe" brand music.

Performance: 
• I used Midjourney to create my "host" + 
• LTX to sync his speech and gestures.

Editing: 
• Brought it all together in Camtasia for the final cut.

The hardest part? 
Convincing the AI that the van should stay stationary while the camera moved! It took several rolls to get that perfect "automotive showcase" feel.

Recently, Claude introduced a feature that lets you "switch without starting over" by importing your entire AI conversation history.  On the surface, it’s brilliant. It solves our very human fear of waste.

The countdown is on. In just a few months, AI LAB is leaving the desk behind and hitting the pavement for a three-year journey across the country. First stop? Knoxville—the "big small town" we've grown to love.

We're coming to see the mountains and some of our best friends, sure. But mostly we're coming because Knoxville is full of creative professionals and makers who are ready to actually use generative AI—not just talk about it.

You've got this interesting mix here: real Appalachian character mixed with serious intellectual firepower.  Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK). People doing breakthrough research. And at the same time, creators and makers who aren't waiting around — they're already experimenting with genAI tools, figuring out what's possible in their work. That's exactly who we want to work with.

Then there's the business side. HGTV & Scripps Networks came from here. So did Pilot Flying J. and Clayton Homes Inc. Real companies at scale, all ripe for AI-driven transformation. We're here to help people across these sectors actually integrate generative AI into their workflows — not with theory, but with hands-on guidance for the work they're already doing.

And honestly? You can grab a Smokies adventure minutes from downtown. 

Knoxville proves you don't have to choose between serious creative work and real living. That balance is exactly what we think AI should help people achieve.
