Who am I?

4 years as a fully trained infantryman, as part of the 3rd Battalion, the Royal Anglian Regiment, affectionately known as the Steelbacks.

*Part of a Gold medal winning team on Cambrian Patrol 2010. 
Arguably the hardest patrol competition in the world, Cambrian Patrol is a 60km reconnaissance patrol over the Black Mountains and Sennybridge Training Area in Wales.
The Patrol is conducted over a period of 48 hours with no sleep, across demanding terrain, during rough weather and carrying 50kg upwards, whilst completing a series of tactical missions and tasks along the way. 
I was tasked as the 'point' man for the patrol, reacting to pressure situations first and maintaining a pace for our Section of 8 infantrymen to arrive at task as quickly, efficiently and as orderly as possible. 
My ability to lead from the front with determination, fitness, humour and sheer-willpower was just one of the reasons our Reserve Section got awarded the Gold medal standard. 

Stands include:
-First Aid and casualty evacuation under fire (CASEVAC).
-Navigating a minefield.
-Dealing with improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
-Intelligence gathering and observation.
-Reacting to and handling Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) threats.
-Crossing 75+ metres of open water (cold) tactically with all equipment.

For some reason my algorithm is filled with the usual 4-day a week garbage and "I only work till 5" - ironically from recruiters and those trying make it to the top (if not why would you be in sales).

Quickly scratching those off the list of ones I will try and headhunt to join me at 4mation Partners (FYI we're hiring now).

Well let me tell you a story.

I didn't do a sales deal for 12 months in my 4th year into my career.
I then picked up a lead after pitching a minimum of 7 people per day.
Made a placement with a large tech consultancy in month 12 of this dry spell.

What followed was a slow rise.
In the 1st year trading with them, less than 20 deals.
The next year, was around 50, third 65, fourth, over 100, fifth, more and so on and so forth.

When I met the main POC at the end of the first year she said:

"When I message you, you reply. Anytime, before everyone else. Even before the rest of the UK is at work."

Or something along those lines.

Anyway, as Ingvild Borge loves me saying, 

"The extra mile is an often vast and unpopulated waste land".

There is always a better Marc Burgess out there.

and that starts quite simply with doing anything to win that business ethically.
