My team and I conceptualized, created, and maintained business systems for the IT Infrastructure Team using Power Automate and Power Apps. We worked inside the Power Platform, and Azure DevOps to innovate new ways of storing data and to automate and streamline existing business practices and we provided data analysis and visualization, over PowerBI, for the IT Ops department.

We also worked with internal IT data within Power BI to forecast future equipment demands and to try and diagnose the most common IT requests.

Business Analyst

Managed a team of business analysts that worked in the space between IT development and Operations to innovate the mortgage Underwriting process. Together, we developed Underwriting tools, performance metrics, and business systems that minimized expense and made the company more efficient by using data from frontline Operations personnel to inform what was needed to meet the needs of the organization.

Highlights:
Developed an algorithm for automatically calculating income from documents submitted without the need for an Underwriter. Algorithm was built in Power Automate, with an entrance through a Power Virtual Agent, using AI Builder to read the documents. It fully calculated income, verified information between the loan and the document, and gave a risk assessment based on submitted documents.

Created a training environment for newly onboarded Underwriters to practice their underwriting skills on closed files, without risking mistakes made on live applications. The system uses MS Forms, delivered on SharePoint, to collect the answers to file specific Underwriting scenario questions and then Power Automate dynamically sends the submission to a reviewer using PA Approvals. This information is all collected, stored, and reported out to management using Excel and Power BI. The system has supported over 30,000 training file assessments.

Power Platform Citizen Developer Team Manager

Designed and developed tools, company wide metrics, and business processes to help improve the speed, accuracy, and budget of Income Underwriting. In this role I was able to supplement IT development by quickly building (typically in the space of a week to a month) a system or tool to react to newly pressing business needs. I was also able to fill data analysis and processing needs, typically serviced by more established members of Enterprise Analytics, by quickly analyzing and presenting data to quickly inform business decisions regarding hiring and firing and risk assessment.

Highlights:
Created an Excel income calculator to apply the covid P&L analysis Underwriting overlays that used algorithmic programming and VBA to produce a final approved income calculation and a risk assessment after analyzing 11 amounts from the tax returns, the P&L, and the business bank statements.

In the midst of contemplating a shift from more senior to more junior Underwriting personnel on third party originated mortgage applications I was able to quickly create an auditing system to assess outcomes of the decision. The system was made using Power Automate to deliver quality audits to Underwriters and their managers and offered methods to dispute thhe finding at two levels. Information on the audit was then reported to the managers responsible for making the decisions on the Underwriting staffing.

Power Platform Citizen Developer

Managed a team of Income Underwriters, domestic and outsource team members, responsible for evaluating and approving income and employment on all conventional, government, Jumbo, Heloc, and non QM mortgages and working cohesively with our retail and wholesale partners as well as our in house loan officers. I trained all my senior team members on all of income Underwriting for every approval in less than one year.

Highlights:
Won most productive team of May 2021 (in the last month the competition was held).

Five of my domestic staff were promoted to leadership roles in the company within their first year and a half at the company (dept. average was 1-2 per team).

Became the subject matter expert on Child Support and Alimony income, Foster Care, Public Assistance, and Pension Income.

Hosted innumerable trainings on income Underwriting, including several in front of the entire department (200 UWs).

Hosted weekly open training/live help sessions for the sales department for over a year.

Verified employment and calculated income (of varying types and sources) on 15-35 conventional and government mortgages daily. Earned full underwriting privileges on all income types and learned, in addition to income, how to underwrite on the portions of the loan dedicated to credit, appraisal, fraud prevention, and asset review.

In 2020, I spilled directionless out of college into a world engulfed by uncertainty. 
I spent the next two years as an Underwriting Manager learning mortgages and training my team of Underwriters.

 In a matter of weeks I was, quite unexpectedly, working on data analytics and software design on Excel which grew into managing a full scale projects team doing heavy data analytics and building automated business processes through Microsoft's Power Platform, eventually a permanent role doing the same in IT, and now I'm officially a Power Platform Developer. 

The world has changed and so did my dreams. I love what I do and I hope everyone reading this has found their passion too. No obstacle is formidable enough to keep you from doing what you're supposed to do.
