In the last two years, Miu Miu went from Prada’s “little sister” to one of the hottest brands in fashion.

The formula was simple:
• Viral runway moments (hello micro-mini skirt)
• Strong Gen-Z celebrity ecosystem
• Products that travel well on TikTok and Instagram
• Entry luxury pieces like ballet flats and mini bags

And as the brand gained:
Cultural relevance → demand → growth.

Miu Miu is now doing what luxury brands rarely achieve: turning internet culture into revenue.

➔ Prada stayed the intellectual luxury anchor

While Miu Miu focused on cultural relevance, Prada remained consistent with its minimal and timeless design language.

That balance matters.
It allows Prada to protect its heritage while letting Miu Miu experiment with trends.

Prada Group is now integrating Versace.

These 3 brands almost collapsed because their logos became too popular

➤ In the late 80s and early 90s, Gucci was in chaos.

The company had:
→ Licensed the logo to hundreds of manufacturers
→ Allowed cheap accessories everywhere
→ Flooded the market with double-G logos

You could buy Gucci cigarette lighters, keychains, socks, luggage tags, almost anything.
The result:
→ Massive counterfeiting
→ Oversaturation of the logo
→ Luxury customers abandoning the brand

By 1993, Gucci was almost bankrupt.

In 1994, TOM FORD took over as creative director and made three bold moves: he killed most licenses, made Gucci sexy and high fashion again, and reduced the overload of logos.

Just a year later, his 1995 collection revived the brand almost overnight. Today, Gucci is worth tens of billions.

➤ Louis Vuitton faced a different version of the same issue.
Their LV monogram canvas became one of the most recognizable patterns in the world.

But that created problems:
→ It became the most counterfeited luxury item globally
→ Fake LV bags flooded street markets
→ The logo became too visible everywhere

Luxury buyers started shifting toward “quiet luxury.” At the same time, the monogram became one of the most counterfeited designs in the world.

So the creative director, Marc Jacobs, introduced:
→ Limited collaborations
→ Art-inspired designs
→ Seasonal experimentation

One famous example was the Takashi Murakami collaboration (2003), which reinvented the monogram with colors.

Instead of killing the logo, Vuitton made it cultural and collectible.

➤ Burberry faced a similar problem in the early 2000s.
The iconic Burberry check pattern became extremely popular and started appearing everywhere.

Burberry repositioned itself as a modern global luxury brand while protecting the exclusivity of its iconic pattern.

I noticed this while browsing the website of a Brooklyn-based lighting studio called In Common With.

On their product pages, there’s a small toggle:
“Turn off the lights.”

Click it, and the entire page darkens.
Now you’re not just looking at a product page.

You’re seeing the fixture the way it’s actually meant to exist, glowing in the dark.

Such a tiny interaction.
But that tiny detail changes everything.

It helps you imagine the product in your own space.
And that’s the difference between design that looks good and design that works for the user.

The best brands don’t just focus on big ideas.

They obsess over micro-moments:
• a thoughtful interaction
• a subtle animation
• a small feature that makes the experience better

Because brands aren’t built through grand gestures.
They’re built through hundreds of thoughtful details.

And when someone notices one of them,
You know the brand did something right.
