For a long time, I thought protecting my energy meant doing less.
What I eventually learned was this:

It meant stopping certain things altogether.

Here’s what I stopped doing to protect my energy:

1️⃣  I stopped explaining myself to people who had already decided who I was.
Clarity doesn’t need consensus.

2️⃣  I stopped saying yes out of guilt.
A polite no costs less energy than a resentful yes.

3️⃣  I stopped over-preparing for conversations that didn’t deserve that much weight.
Not everything needs rehearsal.

4️⃣  I stopped reacting immediately.
Pauses create better choices than speed ever did.

5️⃣  I stopped carrying work that wasn’t mine to carry.
Responsibility is powerful. Over-responsibility is draining.

🍀 None of this made me less committed.
🍀It made me more present.
🍀Protecting your energy isn’t selfish.

🎯 It’s how you show up sustainably for your work and for your people.

Writing emails is an underrated leadership skill.

Because the moment you’re promoted,
your words stop being “just communication.”
They become direction.

An email isn’t only about sharing information.
It signals how you think, how you decide, and how you lead.
That’s why the details matter.

➡️ Knowing when to use : vs ;
➡️ Understanding the difference between — and -
➡️ Using “ ” and ‘ ’ correctly
➡️ Knowing their from there

It’s not nitpicking.
It’s precision.

So is knowing:

➡️ PFA vs PFB
➡️ FYI vs FYR
➡️ When to be brief
➡️ When to explain
➡️ When a full stop sounds decisive… and when it sounds dismissive

                                       Leadership shows up in tone.

↪️Being assertive without being rude.
↪️Clear without being cold.
↪️Direct without being disrespectful.

Because when you lead, your emails:
✅ set expectations
✅reduce ambiguity
✅prevent unnecessary back-and-forth
✅model professionalism for others

Here’s the uncomfortable truth:
If you’re promoted but can’t write a basic, clear email, your authority will leak quietly.

People may not say it.
But they’ll feel it.

Good leaders don’t just make decisions.
They communicate them well.

 And said no to more temptations than I can count.

💚  Showed up for my journal
 Consistency over intensity.
 Clarity over chaos.

💙 Protected my peace
 Moved slower.
 Thought less.
 Stopped turning everything into a problem that needed solving.

 Less distracted.
 More listening.
 More being there.

Quiet upgrades. Long-term payoff.
