La Casa del Queso is part of a cheese processing plant located in Chontales, Nic. We  export Morolique cheese, to El Salvador. The last 5 years sales abroad have fallen.  " ... the fall in the value of the Morolique cheese exports is mainly due to the country's sociopolitical crisis. 'The time we spent without being able to export, due to the problem in the country, mainly due to road blocks, had an impact on exports of between 15% and 18%.' " In addition to that, there has been a substantial loss of clients (of the exporters), mainly in El Salvador, who have been replacing us with products from Honduras." Now, Honduran dairy products have preferential treatment in the Salvadoran market, which was the main market for Morolique cheese, while more restrictive measures are upheld for Nicaraguan products.
