That's a tiny part of it.

After I finished cancer treatment, even simple things felt uncertain.

My energy was low and unpredictable.

The doctor kept encouraging me to go for walks.

Every time I tried, I made it about five minutes before turning back.

It wasn't about motivation.

It was fear.

Fear that if I went too far, I wouldn't have the strength to get home.
When you've come out the other side of something big, that kind of fear settles in quietly. You start calculating risk everywhere. How far is too far? What if I can't make it back?

So for months, I stayed close to home.

Out a little. Back a little.

Always measuring what I thought I could handle.

Then one day, something changed.

By then, Jordan had his driver's licence. I told him I wanted to go for a walk and see how far I could actually go. I asked if he could come and get me wherever I ended up.

He didn't hesitate.

"Of course, Mum. Call me anytime."

That was all I needed.

Not the lift itself.

The safety net.

Permission to try without the fear of being stuck.

So I set out in one direction, toward Collaroy Beach, knowing I wouldn't be walking home. 
I stopped along the way. Took photos. Let myself breathe.

I wasn't fast. I wasn't strong. But I kept going.

And somewhere along that walk, something clicked.

What I'd convinced myself was a physical limit turned out to be mostly a mental one.

Ninety minutes later, I reached Collaroy Beach. A distance that would have felt impossible not long before.

I called Jordan. He came to get me.

That walk wasn't about fitness or distance.

It was about reclaiming trust in myself.

And it reminded me of something I still see play out in business all the time.

Most people don't avoid growth because they're incapable.

They avoid it because they don't feel safe to try.

Sometimes what makes the difference isn't pushing harder.

It's knowing there's support if you need it.

You don't have to do everything alone.

And you're often capable of more than you think.

I don't fall for Nigerian prince emails promising me $10 million inheritance.

But this one got me.

I was expecting medical results.

The email came from the imaging clinic I had just visited.

Perfect timing. Perfect context.

That's called social engineering.

It doesn't trick your intelligence. It uses your reality.
I clicked.

Within minutes, my email account was compromised and firing messages out to hundreds of people.

The scammers even created hidden Outlook rules so the warning emails were automatically going into Deleted Items.

Normally, I would've gone straight into panic mode.

Instead, I opened ChatGPT.

Step by step it told me:
Reset passwords.
Check sign-in activity.
Remove malicious rules.
Force sign-out of devices.
Secure the account properly.
Scan your computer for malware.

It didn't just give me instructions.
It gave me calm.

I build websites for a living.
Apparently, I still need supervision.
Good thing I've got Al on speed dial.

I wasn't overwhelmed because I had too much to do. I was overwhelmed because everything lived in my head and everything felt urgent.

My to-do list just kept growing.
Client work in progress.
Emails I hadn't replied to.
Ideas I didn't want to forget.
Tasks I knew mattered but didn't have the headspace to touch yet.

Nothing was urgent on its own. But together, it was constant noise.

Every morning I sat down to work and felt tired before I'd done anything.

That constant background thinking was what drained me.

I finally dumped the whole mess into ChatGPT and said: "This is everything on my plate. Help me work out what actually matters."

Once I had clarity, I moved it into ClickUp properly so it stopped living in my head.

Same workload. Completely different energy.

That's when I realised overwhelm wasn't about time. It was about carrying too many decisions at once.

Most people think a website launch is the finish line.

It's not.

It's the handover.

Once a site goes live, three things start happening immediately:

    1. 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭
        Your wording, structure, and calls to action are now doing the explaining.
         If something's vague, people fill in the gaps themselves - usually incorrectly.

    2. 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐛𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭
        Confusing menus.
        Unclear services.
        Missing next steps.
        These don't show up in the build. They show up once real people start using the site.
    
    3. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠
         If you hesitate before sharing the link, you'll compensate in conversations.
        You'll over-explain.
        You'll soften your offer.
        That affects outcomes more than most people realise.

This is why I don't treat website design as a "launch and walk away" job.

A good website supports the next phase of your business — not just the day it goes live.

If you only ever use one Al prompt in your business, make it this:

"Here is everything currently on my plate.
My priorities are time, clarity, and sustainability.
Help me decide what matters this week, what can wait, and what I should stop giving energy to."

This prompt works because it does three things:

✅ it removes emotion
✅ it forces prioritisation
✅ it stops false urgency

It doesn't give you answers.

It gives you 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞.

It usually means one of three things:

And here's the thing - clients feel that energy.

When you're proud of your website, you send it without thinking. You reference it in conversations. You build authority around it.

When you're unsure, you avoid it.

Your website isn't just "online presence."

It's your business home.

If it doesn't feel clear, organised and representative of your work, that's not a marketing problem.

That's a structural problem.

The most useful way I use ChatGPT isn't for writing.

It's for 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠.

When I feel stuck or pulled in too many directions, I ask one question:

"Based on my business as it is right now, what deserves my attention this week - and what doesn't?"

That one prompt forces clarity.

It helps me stop reacting to noise and refocus on what actually moves things forward.

I still make the decisions.

It just removes the mental clutter around them.

This exact mindset is baked into Wait. You Can Do That?

Al isn't replacing thinking.

It's helping you aim it properly.

The moment I realised my business had to work around my life wasn't about ambition or growth.
It was about fear.
Not fear of failure.
Fear of regret.

Before Jordan was born, I was on a fairly standard path.

Corporate work. Long days. Long commutes. Being a number more than a person.

I didn't love it, but it was familiar. Predictable. Safe.

Then Jordan arrived, and everything shifted.

I remember holding him as a baby and thinking something that scared me more than any financial risk ever has:

"If I go back to that life, I'm going to miss this." 
Not the big milestones people talk about.

The everyday stuff.
The ordinary moments that quietly make up a childhood.

When he was two, I became a single parent.
No backup income.
No safety net.
No one else to absorb the risk if things went wrong.

The pressure was intense. Money was tight. I questioned myself constantly.
But the question that guided every decision wasn't
"What if I fail?"
It was
"What if I miss his childhood?"

I couldn't accept a life where I needed permission to attend a school assembly.

Or where someone else saw his milestones before I did.

Or where I was always rushing, apologising, or choosing work over presence.

So 1 made a decision that didn't feel brave at the time.

It felt necessary.

I wasn't going back to corporate.

I needed a business that worked from home. That worked around nap times and later school hours. That could bend when life needed it to.

That's how I found my way into building websites. Not as a grand plan, but survival mixed with hope.

The early years were hard.

There was burnout, financial stress, and moments I wondered if I was being irresponsible.

But there was one thing I never questioned.

I didn't miss him.

I was there for the first day of school.
The assemblies.
The sports games.
The class performances.
The moments that don't come with do-overs.

Now Jordan is grown, thriving, and living his own life.

And I can look back and say, without hesitation:

I chose right.
My business wasn't built because I felt ready.
It wasn't built because I had a perfect plan.
It was built because I refused to look back one day and realise I had been present everywhere except where it mattered most.

I remember the moment I realised I had to learn WordPress.

Frontpage, the software I'd used for years was gone. Phased out.

I've seen this before.

Years ago it was FrontPage.

Then Dreamweaver-heavy builds became unmaintainable.

More recently, I've had enquiries from business owners panicking because their site was built on a tool that no longer fits what they need - or is quietly being phased out.

Here's the real issue:

When your website is built on something you don't fully control, 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤.

You might still have a website, but:

This is why I don't build websites to suit trends or tools.
I build them so they can evolve.
