I knew LinkedIn was freaky when I shared a photo of myself with a post, and a random stranger told me my exact height 🫥



And that was, like.. 3 years ago? Can't even imagine what folks can calculate and pinpoint based on a photo now.

Be careful what you're putting out there! Online privacy is an illusion.

If I saw you visit my profile after my last post, I just know you're looking through my image posts, trying to calculate my height 🤨

Me after writing 30 AWESOME posts that I can't wait to share, but I have to "spread them out throughout the month" 🙄

I know the exact reason why 'weird LinkedIn' is taking off right now, and it's a pretty obvious one. 



Humor remains the one thing that simply cannot be outsourced to AI, no matter how hard you try. 

The best funny stories? They're from people. 

The most hilarious memes? Humans created those. 

The most random ideas? Yep, human brains are responsible for those bad boys. 

The 'weird LinkedIn' angle is peak humanity and originality. 

Corrupt CEOs and unsuspecting Founders can try to outsource anything and everything to AI while leaving marketers and creatives in the dust.. 

But they will NEVER take away our humor 😎

Why do you think 'weird LinkedIn' has been trending for so long?

Still asking ChatGPT or Claude your questions? I drink at least 80% less water while being at least 80% cooler and 80% more original. Ask me in the comments instead 😎

Me, who didn't realize I'm allergic to the nature in the Netherlands until I moved here:

International Women's Day is just around the corner, so here's a marketing reminder for every single company who is planning a post or campaign around it.. 

Don't do it for show. Only do it if you're genuinely doing something of value for gender equality and women's rights. 

Because there's nothing more embarrassing than making a "Happy International Women's Day!" post as a company who..

- Has a C-suite composed exclusively (or almost exclusively) of men

- Doesn't offer accommodations for maternity leave or health issues faced by women

- Looks the other way when women in the company face sexual harassment

I remember working for a company who made an International Women's Day celebratory post, even though the staff was 95% male, there wasn't a single woman in a leadership position, and one of the top people in the company made women uncomfortable around every corner with his questionable behaviors and remarks.

Don't be the company who does that. 

Make your International Women's Day posts if you want; profit off your Women's Day campaigns if that's what you see fit. 

But if you do that, you better be doing something of value for gender equality and women's rights — whether it be in your company, or on a higher level. 

Anyone else cringe on March 8th every year when companies who clearly don't care about women make those cheap marketing posts?

PS - I'll always be the first to speak about these topics in the workplace and marketing space. Does it make you uncomfortable? Good.

Despite a blizzard, my friends Paula Aidoo, Elie Paul and many others made it to Fabrik in Manhattan for another wonderful Lawrence Krubner event. We got to hear from three technology leaders (Thu Do, Dan Maccarone, Greg Adams) who are pushing the limits of what AI can do. We are very lucky to get to meet and learn from incredible people like them!

One of the things that I love about community centered workspaces like Fabrik is the collection of books they have on the shelves. On one of the shelves was a hard copy of "The Song of Significance," written by brilliant marketing thought leader, prolific best selling author and founder of the altMBA Seth Godin 🌔. 

Every time I read his books, he changes the way I think about work, marketing and art. Great writers like Seth can distill the complex into something portable that anyone can understand. His "Stakes/Trust Quadrant" is worth sharing! Aim for the top right quadrant!

Networking events, for lots of people, are SO uncomfortable. 

There is a formula for success, however. 

It's not about finding a lead or making a sale. 

It's about making new relationships and being genuinely curious about whoever you bump into. 

Even the most introverted of personalities can simply change the goal of the networking event, and all of a sudden, an opportunity shows up at your doorstep. 

No one wants to sell or be sold to. 

Everyone wants to storytell, though. 

Be a good listener, and do your best to add value to the conversation.
